@DaBroskiBro I've thought about it, and I've determined that you are an idiot. There is no evidence of god, just as there is no evidence of Thor, Allah, Osiris, Odin, etc.
Thank you religion for murdering yet another homo sapein. Religion you keep killing my species. Your unending onslaught against Humans has been going on as long as anyone can remember. Your fake imaginary gods keep affecting people and they take your message of hate and kill for you. Religion I know you have no power, no knowledge, no control but the weakest of my species don't know. Come pick on me, Ill tell you to fuck off to your face. Leave the weak, let them be Humans again without you.
I don't think I'm the only one who believes this. But hey maybe I am and others just prefer their more radical positions. One way or the other. No middle ground huh? But, from Big bang, and nebulae(sp?) to exploding stars and pulsars, magnetrons, black holes, damn just the size of the universe, it's not that hard to make at least me think "That's the work of God." Not the whole 6 days thing. 4 all you know God could have just thought "I'm going to create an Universe"snapped his fingers=Big Bang
Keeping in mind what I said before. Should we take the words on the bible literally?I don't think they were meant to be taken that way.Creationists say all scientist are atheist and nothing of what they discover about the universe can't be true because it's not like that in the bible. What they have discovered is actually a good reason to believe. The universe is huge beyond comprehension and the amazing things happen in it can make you think:"There MUST be something out there making this happen.
One thing that a lot of people fail to see it's that God is NOT the bible. Personally, I believe in God. Do I believe in a book written hundreds of years after the events it talks about, by people who weren't there? Written by the way in a time when most of these stories were pass down by word of mouth. Even if the story remained intact by the time it was written it depicted events that were beyond the kind of understanding people at the time had. -to be continued in the next post....
Unless you can demonstrate a process by which mass can be created in a vacuum using nothing but what's inside the vacuum. The amount of water and rock on earth will be the same for an infinite amount of time unless it didn't come from here. If you can't prove the process by which a rock can be completely eliminated from existence. The rock will never cease to exist and it never didn't exist.
@dinodan161 JUST BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW HOW A "FEW" ANIMALS (LIKE YOU MENTIONED) EVOLVED DOESN'T MEAN THEY NEVER DID, AND IF YOU EVER TOOK A BIOLOGY CLASS YOU WOULD'VE STUDIED EVOLUTION AND IT'S EVIDENCE. HOLY MOLY ARE YOU A MORON.
In 1997 a girl called lauren was walikng in a forest and then a she just dissapeared no one ever found her untill 2000 when a yoing girl called Mary found her body and markings on her chest saying: I wasnt pretty enough" and now you have read this she will appear in your mirror saying your not pretty enough and kill you. by the way the girl called mary died shortly after. To be saved paste this to 5 other videos. THIS TRUEim posting this cuz i dont play with my life
its funny, regardless of what any of you athiests say, if you dnt believe in God then your screwed. no arguement there. straight out. not even a chance. and if your dumb enough to answer back, obviously you have not done your research...
DO YOU EVEN REALIZE THAT 90% OF SCIENTISTS ARE ATHEISTS, AND IF ALL EVIDENCE POINTED TO A CREATOR THEN SCIENTISTS WOULD ACCEPT IT? "regardless of what any of you athiests say" THAT JUST SHOWS THAT YOU ARE IGNORANT BECAUSE YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT WE SAY! AND I HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH YOU IDIOT.
The fact that we know what the speed of light is to a reasonably high degree of accuracy is pretty much the only reason GPS works. And DME navigation used by aircraft too.
So when you measure an object that is a number of million light years away... you are looking at light which departed the seen object that same number of years ago.
not all creationists believe the bible account of the creation is intended as a literal scientific explanation of the universe. many believe in science and seek understanding. "the bible tells us how to get to heaven, not how the heavens work"
the most amazing thing is that when one considers the fact that the more science learns the more science realizes it does not know, how many people ignore the fact that we have not even glimpsed into dark matter or string theory's additional dimentions
The whole idea of something that exists had to be created by someone is a silly human observation. We want a house to exist? We create it. Maybe the same thing isn't true for the universe and everything in it. We need to let go of our preconceived notions if we're to understand the bigger picture.
@MrAudiovideodisco well my personal opinion is towards science how ever I wouldn't rule out creationism e.g. where did everything came from? there has to be a better answer than the answer this are just there because they are
in saying so... my personal opinion is that if science cannot explain it then I am very sceptical of any other explanation. im not ruling out that there is a god or even a greater intelligence but the old archaic bible are very wrong.

If the world is only 6000 years old, how do you explain black holes and supernovas? Look up where black holes and supernovas come from, and you will see that if young earth creationism was correct, lack holes would not exist for 9 billion years.
I am honestly suprised ANYONE is still a creationist. The world is clearly shown to be more then 6,000 years old. And how can light from distant galaxies reach us in only that time? And why do the continents happen to look like a jig-saw puzzle? And why doesn't the bible mention dinosaurs and prehistoric life? Creation is false. Period.
@anticorncob6 First of all, read book of Job(Jobe), if you want to look up specifics find Job 40. They lived in rural surroundings, they lived before the nations existed, the oldest book in the Bible, somewhere about 4,000 years ago. Sounds pre-historic so far, right? Read that, it literally is telling you how big these giant Behemoth and Leviathan existed and their size and strength. There it is. Funny you believed that, and that was wrong, what else are you wrong about? how ironic
@UknownNephilim Are you for or against the bible? 4000 years ago is not necissarily prehistoric. I call it about 10,000 years ago +. And all further true info in the bible could easily have been known. Measure the fossil, that's how big it is.
@anticorncob6 Well if you lived in a time before nations existed, people lived in tribes/clans/peoples I guess you could say, and lived when there were these behemoths among the earth, which in fact dont exist today. Sounds a lot like a pre-historic to time to me. I dont understand why you are argueing with me, you said something false and I corrected you, thats all.
@uknowispeaksense How do you know exactly? YOU DONT. superstitious, apparently because 'you' said so. Your no one that needs an explanation to. your a random youtube user just saying stuff without thinking
@UknownNephilim the people who don't think are mindless zealots quoting fairy tales because they lack the ability to critically analyse anything or think for themselves. You could apply your final sentence to yourself unless you somehow think yourself better than you actually are.
@UknownNephilim opinionated? uh huh. if you could analyse anything critically you would come tothe conclusion that the Bible is a fairytale. that is the only logical conclusion. Its not my opinion that you are mindless zealots, it is proven by your inabilities to think for yourselves.
@uknowispeaksense Have you read the entire Bible? Why is it the only logical conclusion to your life? Can you prove these things? Proven inabilities to think for 'ourselves'? hm.. okay. 'mindless zealots'..? those arent opinionated statements? Why are the Atheist attacking anyone who believes in God aka jah, buddah, etc. ? Why do you always have to try and prove yourselves? you dont understand the christian way, if you dont believe and dont want to, fine i dont care honestly. Go about your life.
@UknownNephilim I have read the Bible in its entirety as well as a number of its various translations. I have also read a number of other religious texts from different persuasions. The Christian Bible is a horror story. Rape, genocide, infanticide. But thats not the worst. The worst thing about religion is that the indoctrination of children into these cults using fear of something they can't critically analyse, thereby taking away their right to think for themselves is child abuse.
@uknowispeaksense Do you understand why those things happened? Do you understand why sometimes things WILL be dark and evil! Shit is all fucked up man, God even says it, there are evil things, there are evil people, they do evil things, yes there is a good side and a bad side to everything, even things that exist in a different dimension we cannot even comprehend.you are obviously very uneducated on the term 'religion' as well, catholics, islam, buggah, religion. as a christian i have no chains.
@uknowispeaksense If you have honestly read the Bible, and you still have these views, you show that you are very arrogant, ignorant and a fool. You say these horrible things, yet you dont understand the story behind them, why they happened, you must understand God is love, yet God will not let things become out of control and fall into evil, you must remember what he had done to Gog and Magog correct? You understand he wiped them out for the evil things they were doing without consequences
@UknownNephilim presumably youbelieve that God created everything. I would loveto see you go to Africa where innocent children arer dying fro Ebola and tell their parents that god is love. Tell me zealot, why is your god so cruel that he kills innocent children? what is the point of a tapeworm or those little parasites that burrow into the eyes of children in third world countries? I guess you were just lucky that your god favoured your country over there's and sparedyou his evil work.
@uknowispeaksense You are very tunneled visioned, is Africa the only place people starve to death or die of diseases? No. Go look in dark alleys at night, you will see homeless, I see homeless people and people struggling to survive all the time, this world is not a good place, its been fucked up by all the evil the devil and demons bring to this world. Why would any man want to kill innocents or make him do bad things? Temptation and evil. The world is flawed in every way, by nature and humans
@uknowispeaksense when you go straight to blaming God, that just means you do not see the whole picture, you forget about the evil satan brings to this world. There is a whole picture that you are missing, yet you have weak points and think you know it all. You reject everything. Im done trying to even dispute with an arrogant atheist who is too smart to believe in anything he literally cant see.
@uknowispeaksense again, i make points and as a usual atheist does, they get distracted and fall off topic. I made an entire point and you went into talking about realist.... Im done talking to you, dumbshit....
@UknownNephilim I have made several points myself that you havechosen to ignore. No doubtbecause it inconvenient to your belief system.... I am assuming the part you accuse me of ignoring is the bit about Satan? I am curious..if you god is all knowing, why did he create satan in the first place? But a bigger question is, given your propensity to believe the old testament, do you also subscribe to the raping of virgins, torture of children, genocide and slavery done at your god's command?
@UknownNephilim further...answer the bit about noah and the marsupials or you will be guilty of the exact same thing you accuse me of and thus prove yourself a hypocrite. As for namecalling, a little unchristiuanlike i would have thought or did the devil make you do it?
@uknowispeaksense and if you read further on in the Bible, it says all this stuff about the wars and corruption coming, the world becoming hell and all fucked up, the antichrist leaders that will decieve many people, you cannot tell me that this world and almost everything is becoming corrupt. It says as it was in the times of Noah, it shall be in the end. it says that there will be a revived empire of the states around isreal, look now libia, iran etc.. they are becoming that revived empire
@UknownNephilim Is that the 950 year old Noah whose ark would have sunk under the weight of insects alone should he actually have managed to collect two of everything in the world let alone everything elseplus the food. Good thing he left the unicorns behind. Just curious about Noah, since you brought him up. How did he get all the marsupials to migrate enmasse from Mt Ararat to Australia yet convince all the placentals to stay behind? Curious.
@LockeXIII I read lots of material that opposes my premise. Funny u mention C, I don't usually think of C in terms of geological time but hey have found detectable C14 in coal and even diamonds. This should not be so if they are in the millions of years old. Radio-metric dating methods r full of problems and assumptions
@grfield1 Look, this idea of c-decay has been thoroughly debunked. If you're interested in knowing whether or not it's a true or plausible claim, you should do a little more research and read about all the evidence against it.
I was curious about this claim myself when I first heard it. Good luck.
@Luigi the expansion rate having changed is also a theory and can not be tested, however I do accept that it has changed (slowed) since the instant of creation of the material universe.
The clip has 2 basic assumptions. 1 that the speed of light has always been the same and 2 that the expansion rate of the universe has always been the same. These r assumptions based on what we observe today.
@grfield1 (facepalm) The speed of light is a measurement and we know the expansion rate has not always been the same. None of those 2 things has anything at all to do with God.
@grfield1 If Setterfield's formulation of the changes in physical parameters were true, then there should have been 417 days per year around 1 C.E., and the earth would have melted during the creation week as a result of the extremely rapid radioactive decay (Morton et al. 1983).
@LockeXIII The point is that we are making assumptuions about the past, like the spped of light and radiactive decay rates etc. I realize in science that we sometimes have to make assumptions, but i dont have any Faith in your assumptions.
@grfield1 We've been measuring the speed of light for quite some time now, if the speed of light was decaying it would be very well documented. No need to have faith in it, there's evidence.
Lol, nothing in this video applies to Young-Earth Creationism! You're talking about the universe, not specifically the Earth itself. I'm a Young-Earth Creationist and I believe the universe is 13 billion years old based on the scientific evidence. Try again XD
@Moshikashitenai so you believe the universe is 13 billion years old, formed from eons of hot dust and gas taking shape and form, stars burning, creating heavy elements and then going out, or exploding, causing heavy elements to make their way into the cool dust that would become planets, but the EARTH just went "POP" into existence around 6000 years ago, and caves formed, craters filled and were dulled , mountains rose between the plates, and thousands of species lived and died since then
If we have 1(lucy) and 10(us) and we find 5(erectus f.ex.), you ask for 7.5 and 2.5.
We've found about 22.
little calculation...10 / 22 = 0,454545455
That means we have to find a piece of evidence atm for you at every 0,227272727 on my scale of 10.
And what use would that be?
It's called moving the goalposts and to the people from the outside, it ain't seen on as very fair. It's inventing rules during the game to benefit you. Also known as cheating.
@theantiismist Laughable. the verry essense of A theism is non religious. The only common dogma is that Atheist don't beleive in majic or supernature sky dadies. that's it.
You don't want to have any apprehension or be in fear on your death bed whether this "Jesus" stuff is real, because it is, and if you wait till then it may just be to late. This world is tooo PERFECT to just happen on its own.
Perfect? Take away all the science and knowledge and please come back and tell me just how good it is. We as people can barely live without the help of technology of some sort.
97% of the water can't be drank, only 1/32 of earth is capeble of growing food.
We're in collision-course with another solar system our moon is receding away from us and in 4 billion years the sun is gone swallow us.
I would love to see this "perfect" world because it ain't here for sure.
I would love it if you could provide some kind of evidence that atheism was ruled a religion, like a case name and court, otherwise your just talking out of your ass ;) Secular humanism was ruled a 'religion'....for TAX reasons. Secular humanism is NOT atheism, and that whole reason behind the ruling was that a secular humanist group wanted the same tax provisions given to churches. Zeus forbid we may want the same rights others have.
FACT: Many people who believe that evolution is fact or science do so because they refuse to believe in God. The feeling of the light exposing their wickedness, along with their closed-mindedness and dishonesty, keep them stuck with their faith in their evolution religion.
Athiesm and Marxism are two different things. A theory is an explanaiton of facts an evidence while a hypothesis is a guess. Cryptozoology ay be unusual but it is more factual than creationism. Athiests are not a cult, they just want to be left alone so they can go about their lives in peace. But I forget, actually knowing facts is an athestic bias to you.
ME biased? This from an idiot who thinks that the only way t enlightenment is to beleive every word of a bronze-age book loaded with contradictions, implausable events, and outright horrible, racist/sexist/immoral practice is the way to truth? That's why there are athiests. They don't want any part of that or any other religion because they hold many of the same standards.
Athiests have no religion, there is no beleif to be had when you're an athiest. Thomas Jefferson was an athiest and no one back then accused him of having a religious beleif on the matter as athiesm is just as it says; not a theist. Theists are religiously minded, weither they're true scientists like Ken Miller (who is a propponent of evolution and testified at the Dover trial against intelligent design) or fundamentalist lunatics liek Ray Comfort. Athiests have no religion.
Since you ask so nicely, sure. Creaionism is a fraud, found to e a biased religious view disguised as science. The 1st ammendment of the US constitution forbids religion from taking hold of matters of the state and vice versa, and education falls under state business. Intelligent Design in 2005 was found to be a re-labeling of creationism and the church was once again shot down. You lose, get over it.
Speed of light is 299.792.458 m/s. It is the ultimate speed limit for all matter and INFORMATION in the unive- wait, something must be wrong here.... since if two entangled photons are thrown in two reverse directions and one goes through a change, the other will go through the same change instantly! So information must travel faster than the speed of light however you might look at it... oh right, there are those things called tachyons.
"it doesn't change the fact that through string theory Einstein makes the case for Quantum theory"
:facepalm
Einstein didn't really have anything to do with String Theory. String Theory is a result of Quantum Mechanic research which, remember, Einstein refused to believe in and spent a large portion of his life trying to disprove, failed at it, and pretty much ignored it afterwards.
Einstein no more made a case for Quantum Theory than Newton did Relativity.
Secondly, Einstein did not make or propose Quantum Theory. Einstein actually HATED Quantum Theory, with a fervent passion due, to his own "religious" (more like philosophical) beliefs on God and chance. Einstein actually spent quite a bit of his life trying to disprove Quantum Theory (in a group commonly referred to as EPR), along with the Big Bang Theory. He fought hard, very hard, but lost; hell, his theories of relativity were even used to prove Quantum Theory right once.
"Quantum theory proposed by a theistic scientist by the name of Einstein..."
Two problems: Einstein was a deist and did not believe in a personal God. He believed in a more pantheistic, mathematical-physical amalgam of the universe as a whole.
not universe related but didn't the dinosaurs "existed millions of years ago"?
If the claims of earth was young and only 6000 years old, then did the dino's existed with the young earth? Did they got swallowed by the flood? Why does the bible doesn't say anything about dino existence?
@theantiismist Not only are you immature and insulting, you're condescending and patronising too?! Dear me, you'll have a far more difficult time with educated old me. Explain the recurrent laryngeal nerve. Explain why my sinus openings are in the right place for a quadruped, but not for a biped. Explain the similar problems with the human spine. Explain the wisdom teeth that have been giving me problems recently! You can't! That's our point! Repeating stuff doesn't make it true.
@theantiismist Sorry I was out on holiday, living my life. As for 'Ancient Greek Mythology', explain your position in a rational manner, to which Greek Myth are you referring? The one about gods up mountains? The ones about talking snakes and women being responsible for all the evil in the world? The ones about men who are sons of gods? You haven't shot yourself in the foot - you've just blown your own leg off!
@theantiismist well i'm glad to hear that you aren't taking anything too seriously. it's a fun debate and you seem to be enjoying it too. let me know when you have some evidence to prove a young earth.
@theantiismist I'm 17 so i'm not a kid. and i'm not sure why you get so mad and just change the subject to ridicule when confronted with your own absurdity. but i would guess the reason would be that you're scared. how old are you anyway? there's still time to change buddy. on a side note, if you're so anti-ism then why do you defend creationism? if you're so anti-ist then why does your name have it in it and you appeal to the authority of a physicist? i do admire your persistence though.
@theantiismist there are apes here on this planet. bigfoot might actually exist. evolution is not a racist belief, whereas worshiping a genocidal god who has "chosen people" is EXTREMELY racist. "Kill all the Mideonites, men, women, children, but save the virgins for yourselves." ~Yaweh
as far as calling me a nazi....well that's just silly.
@theantiismist Believe is a pretty loaded term, most evolutionary scientists do NOT believe in bigfoot, yeti or the Alma! Just as they disbelieve ridiculous wishy-washy supernatural fantasies. And no-one disputes that Chaka is a fictional character from Land of the Lost! Making immature arguments and putting words into our mouths is very unbecoming and makes you look desperate and insecure, do some bloody research mate! Oh, and please learn your spelling and punctuation. Thanks.
@theantiismist you still can't spell worth a shit. you believe in talking snakes. don't come at me with pseudo science and strawmen. i love you too much to let you make a complete ass out of yourself on youtube comments.
@theantiismist hey man, you brought up quantum theory. i never claimed to know anything about it. as far as your spelling goes, i don't think you should blame typos for your inability to know the difference between "you're" and "your". evolution is real you dimwit. the bible is fiction.
@theantiismist i have no idea what you're talking about, and i tend not to take advice on quantum ANYTHING from creationists who can't spell. but i still love you.
"I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."
and:
"I believe in Spinoza's God, who reveals himself in the lawful harmony of the world, not in a god who concerns himself with the fate and the doings of mankind."
@theantiismist I don't know if you and thousandlegger are having a separate discussion somewhere else, but atleast here I haven't seen him claiming that quantum theory isn't science.
And it makes no difference who proposed the theory. The theory should speak for itself. Besides, Einstein didn't believe in a personal god. He was some form of pantheist/deist.
i think alot of this is beyond comprehension tryna put a B-date for the earth n the universe if we try and break everything down that we see we would go mad crazy, if u try and put creation inan equation is w ild to me cuz u dont have solid facts when to start your studies there wasnt noone recordin the data u would need in the beginning to say heres wherewe start jus sayin maybe someone forgot to carry the 1 n ave u misled but ur numbers say ur right, the creater created embrace n appreciate
The galaxies we see are much further then that. If the universe was static they would be 13 billion lightyears away. However, they are now so far away that if we were to get a snapshot of current universe I'm not sure if you would see anything at all. Maybe with the most light sensitive equipment.
@realscience1 You are assuming that the universe expands at the speed of light. That is simply wrong. Space itself can expand faster than the speed of light, and that's why the diameter of the visible universe is 93 billion light-years. Don't try to talk about things you know nothing about.
Google an article called "Expanding Confusion: common misconceptions of cosmological horizons and the superluminal expansion of the Universe". Or read a wikipedia article on the "observable universe".
@SchrodingersFinch Thanks for the article, 'Expanding Confusion..' It is interesting and I see not that expansion allegedly does not contradict SR. I notice it mainly describes observational results in terms of Einstein's hypothetical universe, yet in several places it says that observational evidence of red-shifts fails relatively dramatically, p. 100, 104, without offering an alternative, so how am I supposed to be convinced? Could it be the model being used - Einstein's model, is wrong?
@realscience1 I'm no expert in relativity, but to me the article explains all this quite well. If you read the conclusion of the article, it says: "An abundance of observational evidence supports the GR Big Bang model of the universe. -- Using magnitude-redshift data from supernovae we were able to rule out the SR interpretation of cosmological redshifts at the ∼ 23[sigma] level. Together these observations provide strong evidence that the GR interpretation ...
@SchrodingersFinch Maybe the GR is true. I am prepared to accept whatever the truth may be. I don't want to argue against the truth. But I am skeptical of redshifts thanks to the Halton Arp experiments which show that quasars belong to galaxies. The plasma cosmology explanations is they are the ejected plasma focus of a galaxy undergoing gravitational collapse, and I believe that. I believe that. IF there are intrinsic redshifts, the red-shift basis of relativity's expanding universe is wrong
... of the cosmological redshifts is preferred over SR and tired light interpretations. The GR description of the expansion of the universe agrees with observations, and does not need any modifications for vrec > c."
@SchrodingersFinch That's an epistemic statement based upon a semantic uncertainty. The article suggested that red-shifts are `closer' to GR than to SR. There is no actual match. I can pick holes in anything. I can pick holes in anything. There is another problem with that article. It will be, according to the sicentific method, obsolete in ten years. That means it is inaccurate TODAY. You are therefore quoting and attempting to educate from an inaccurate article.
@realscience1 "It will be, according to the sicentific method, obsolete in ten years."
Care to elaborate on that? What will make it inaccurate in 10 years? What exactly in it is inaccurate?
The Big Bang cosmology of course has its flaws, but it's the best theory we have so far. To my understanding, the research for plasma cosmology has pretty much been dead for 20 years.
@realscience1 However, I don't have enough knowledge or time to discuss Big Bang vs. plasma cosmology, but if you're interested you are welcome to do it on our forums at leagueofreason(dot)co(dot)uk. Several members, like our admin AndromedasWake, should have the interest and academic degrees to know what they're talking about.
@SchrodingersFinch In fact that's the problem with cosmology. People are not allowed to talk about it. not allowed to discuss it. Atheists treat cosmology like a religion which is `not to be questioned'. That's because underneath it all, atheists are ancestor worshipers. The dead bones of Einstein are to be venerated. There is a problem here. Exceeding the speed of light sends us back in time, so are we going back to before the big bang?
@ironman197268 And how did the Egyptians, who predate your story book, know how to cure disease and construct buildings? Certainly it must have been your god, who wasn't even known of at the time... certainly.
Try harder, bud. You're just making yourself look foolish.
@ironman197268 Yes I did. It's obvious that you can't refute my points so you try to ignore them, hoping they would just go away. A classic creationist tactic; when you know you've lost you block your ears and yell "la la la la la I can't hear you!".
I love when stupid creationists try and argue about science by saying things like "its common sense" or "I read a creationist book about it"
or they make broad, incorrect assumptions about how the world works because they have absolutely no scientific knowledge base such as "the rate of shrinkage of the sun would have been constant, so a 4 billion year old sun would have swallowed up the earth because it was so big"
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Well then, since you know stars are shrinking and the sun is a star and you believe the Earth and the universe is billions of years old uhhh... then the sun use to be bigger right? How could the Earth survive inside the sun 2,000,000,000 years ago? I'm sure you're good at excuses just like all your other buddies. Hey I want to lay out of work all next week and get paid for it, can you give me some excuses please??
1. This assumes that the rate of shrinkage is constant. That assumption is baseless. (In fact, it is the uniformitarian assumption that creationists themselves sometimes complain about.) Other stars expand and contract cyclically. Our own sun might do the same on a small scale.
2. There is not even any good evidence of shrinkage. The claim is based on a single report from 1980. Other measurements, from 1980 and later, do not show any significant shrinkage. It is likely that the original report showing shrinkage contained systematic errors due to different measuring techniquies over the decades.
@ironman197268 Lol. How little you know about science is appalling. Currently, the Sun is not shrinking, but will eventually expand to become a red giant. Once the red giant uses up its fuel, it will shrink down to a size much smaller than it is now and slowly burn until all fuel is depleted.
Excuses... no. Raw facts... yes. You're a fool to think the Earth is only ~10000 years old.
@TheRealVice How much you know about science is funny!! How can the red giant shrink down much smaller than it is now, when it ain't even here? I don't care what you or any scientist says, the sun is shrinking. You should put that science book down and pick up The Bible. Start at Matthew 5:22 cause you're an idiot to think the Earth is 4.6 billion years old
@Raakiszh You're a fan of willful ignorance huh, well that would make sense seeing that you're on the side of all those billions of years. I don't know after looking at that afro, that thing looks like it's been growing for a few million years.... Buwaaahhaaa!!!
@ironman197268 Actually, I'm calling you a troll based on all of your comments on this video, and because you went for an attack on my appearance instead of admitting defeat.
Oh, and you are a total hypocrite. First you deny science and claim that the Bible is superior to all, then you try to JUSTIFY what's in the Bible by referring to modern medical science (which you failed to do). Lastly, the Bible also suggests a geocentric worldview with a square earth standing on four pillars... what?!
I have a personal relationship with logic.

MayhemPr1ncess 3 months ago

The fact that we know what the speed of light is to a reasonably high degree of accuracy is pretty much the only reason GPS works. And DME navigation used by aircraft too.
So when you measure an object that is a number of million light years away... you are looking at light which departed the seen object that same number of years ago.
Pretty simple concept.

not all creationists believe the bible account of the creation is intended as a literal scientific explanation of the universe. many believe in science and seek understanding.

Funny you believed that, and that was wrong, what else are you wrong about? how ironic
UknownNephilim 8 months ago
@UknownNephilim Are you for or against the bible? 4000 years ago is not necissarily prehistoric. I call it about 10,000 years ago +. And all further true info in the bible could easily have been known. Measure the fossil, that's how big it is.
anticorncob6 8 months ago
@anticorncob6 Well if you lived in a time before nations existed, people lived in tribes/clans/peoples I guess you could say, and lived when there were these behemoths among the earth, which in fact dont exist today.

But a bigger question is, given your propensity to believe the old testament, do you also subscribe to the raping of virgins, torture of children, genocide and slavery done at your god's command?

uknowispeaksense 7 months ago
@uknowispeaksense and if you read further on in the Bible, it says all this stuff about the wars and corruption coming, the world becoming hell and all fucked up, the antichrist leaders that will decieve many people, you cannot tell me that this world and almost everything is becoming corrupt. It says as it was in the times of Noah, it shall be in the end. it says that there will be a revived empire of the states around isreal, look now libia, iran etc.. they are becoming that revived empire

@Luigi the expansion rate having changed is also a theory and can not be tested, however I do accept that it has changed (slowed) since the instant of creation of the material universe.

@Luigi they have to with assumptions about the natural world in the present
grfield1 1 year ago

Luigi84289 1 year ago
The clip has 2 basic assumptions. 1 that the speed of light has always been the same and 2 that the expansion rate of the universe has always been the same. These r assumptions based on what we observe today.
grfield1 1 year ago
@grfield1 (facepalm) The speed of light is a measurement and we know the expansion rate has not always been the same. None of those 2 things has anything at all to do with God.
Luigi84289 1 year ago
@grfield1 If Setterfield's formulation of the changes in physical parameters were true, then there should have been 417 days per year around 1 C.E., and the earth would have melted during the creation week as a result of the extremely rapid radioactive decay (Morton et al. 1983).
The speed of light has remained constant.
LockeXIII 1 year ago
@LockeXIII The point is that we are making assumptuions about the past, like the spped of light and radiactive decay rates etc. I realize in science that we sometimes have to make assumptions, but i dont have any Faith in your assumptions.

@grfield1 We've been measuring the speed of light for quite some time now, if the speed of light was decaying it would be very well documented. No need to have faith in it, there's evidence.

NUTCASE71733 1 year ago

Since you ask so nicely, sure. Creaionism is a fraud, found to e a biased religious view disguised as science.

Einstein no more made a case for Quantum Theory than Newton did Relativity.
tskasa1 1 year ago
@theantiismist
He fought hard, very hard, but lost; hell, his theories of relativity were even used to prove Quantum Theory right once.

the driving force is electricity. stars a cold electric reactors, that conserve their energy

EndDelusion 1 year ago

"Kill all the Mideonites, men, women, children, but save the virgins for yourselves." ~Yaweh
as far as calling me a nazi....well that's just silly.
thousandlegger 1 year ago

@theantiismist hey man, you brought up quantum theory. i never claimed to know anything about it. as far as your spelling goes, i don't think you should blame typos for your inability to know the difference between "you're" and "your". evolution is real you dimwit. the bible is fiction.
thousandlegger 1 year ago
@theantiismist I never said he wasn't Jewish. I said he didn't believe in a personal god. That's some major failure in reading comprehension.
And no, it doesn't matter who proposed the theory. A theory isn't true (or false) just because an authority of some kind says it is.
SchrodingersFinch 1 year ago
@theantiismist i have no idea what you're talking about, and i tend not to take advice on quantum ANYTHING from creationists who can't spell. but i still love you.

@theantiismist
"I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."
and:
"I believe in Spinoza's God, who reveals himself in the lawful harmony of the world, not in a god who concerns himself with the fate and the doings of mankind."
both quotes by Einstein
SchrodingersFinch 1 year ago
@theantiismist I don't know if you and thousandlegger are having a separate discussion somewhere else, but atleast here I haven't seen him claiming that quantum theory isn't science.
And it makes no difference who proposed the theory. The theory should speak for itself. Besides, Einstein didn't believe in a personal god. He was some form of pantheist/deist.

@SchrodingersFinch yeah, i'm not sure where the quantum shit came from, and thank you for all your work here.

swatside 1 year ago
The galaxies we see are much further then that. If the universe was static they would be 13 billion lightyears away. However, they are now so far away that if we were to get a snapshot of current universe I'm not sure if you would see anything at all. Maybe with the most light sensitive equipment.
GroogFish 1 year ago
Mate they have found galaxies 60 billion light years different. This refutes the big bang model of the 13 billion year old universe.
realscience1 1 year ago
@realscience1 You are assuming that the universe expands at the speed of light. That is simply wrong. Space itself can expand faster than the speed of light, and that's why the diameter of the visible universe is 93 billion light-years. Don't try to talk about things you know nothing about.
SchrodingersFinch 1 year ago
@SchrodingersFinch How do you know the universe can expand faster than the speed of light?
realscience1 1 year ago
@realscience1 Hubble's law.
Google an article called "Expanding Confusion: common misconceptions of cosmological horizons and the superluminal expansion of the Universe". Or read a wikipedia article on the "observable universe".
Those should clear some things up.
SchrodingersFinch 1 year ago
@SchrodingersFinch Thanks for the article, 'Expanding Confusion..' It is interesting and I see not that expansion allegedly does not contradict SR. I notice it mainly describes observational results in terms of Einstein's hypothetical universe, yet in several places it says that observational evidence of red-shifts fails relatively dramatically, p. 100, 104, without offering an alternative, so how am I supposed to be convinced? Could it be the model being used - Einstein's model, is wrong?
realscience1 1 year ago
@realscience1 I'm no expert in relativity, but to me the article explains all this quite well. If you read the conclusion of the article, it says: "An abundance of observational evidence supports the GR Big Bang model of the universe. -- Using magnitude-redshift data from supernovae we were able to rule out the SR interpretation of cosmological redshifts at the ∼ 23[sigma] level. Together these observations provide strong evidence that the GR interpretation ...
SchrodingersFinch 1 year ago
@SchrodingersFinch Maybe the GR is true. I am prepared to accept whatever the truth may be. I don't want to argue against the truth. But I am skeptical of redshifts thanks to the Halton Arp experiments which show that quasars belong to galaxies. The plasma cosmology explanations is they are the ejected plasma focus of a galaxy undergoing gravitational collapse, and I believe that. I believe that. IF there are intrinsic redshifts, the red-shift basis of relativity's expanding universe is wrong
realscience1 1 year ago
@realscience1
... of the cosmological redshifts is preferred over SR and tired light interpretations. The GR description of the expansion of the universe agrees with observations, and does not need any modifications for vrec > c."
SchrodingersFinch 1 year ago
@SchrodingersFinch That's an epistemic statement based upon a semantic uncertainty. The article suggested that red-shifts are `closer' to GR than to SR. There is no actual match. I can pick holes in anything. I can pick holes in anything. There is another problem with that article. It will be, according to the sicentific method, obsolete in ten years. That means it is inaccurate TODAY. You are therefore quoting and attempting to educate from an inaccurate article.
realscience1 1 year ago
@realscience1 "It will be, according to the sicentific method, obsolete in ten years."
Care to elaborate on that? What will make it inaccurate in 10 years? What exactly in it is inaccurate?
The Big Bang cosmology of course has its flaws, but it's the best theory we have so far. To my understanding, the research for plasma cosmology has pretty much been dead for 20 years.
SchrodingersFinch 1 year ago
@realscience1 However, I don't have enough knowledge or time to discuss Big Bang vs. plasma cosmology, but if you're interested you are welcome to do it on our forums at leagueofreason(dot)co(dot)uk. Several members, like our admin AndromedasWake, should have the interest and academic degrees to know what they're talking about.
SchrodingersFinch 1 year ago
@SchrodingersFinch In fact that's the problem with cosmology. People are not allowed to talk about it. not allowed to discuss it. Atheists treat cosmology like a religion which is `not to be questioned'. That's because underneath it all, atheists are ancestor worshipers. The dead bones of Einstein are to be venerated. There is a problem here. Exceeding the speed of light sends us back in time, so are we going back to before the big bang?
realscience1 1 year ago
@realscience1 Discussing and asking questions is one thing, making stupid ignorant claims is another.

@ironman197268 And how did the Egyptians, who predate your story book, know how to cure disease and construct buildings? Certainly it must have been your god, who wasn't even known of at the time... certainly.
Try harder, bud. You're just making yourself look foolish.
TheRealVice 1 year ago
@ironman197268 Yes I did. It's obvious that you can't refute my points so you try to ignore them, hoping they would just go away. A classic creationist tactic; when you know you've lost you block your ears and yell "la la la la la I can't hear you!".

I love when stupid creationists try and argue about science by saying things like "its common sense" or "I read a creationist book about it"
or they make broad, incorrect assumptions about how the world works because they have absolutely no scientific knowledge base such as "the rate of shrinkage of the sun would have been constant, so a 4 billion year old sun would have swallowed up the earth because it was so big"
at least creationists are good for a chuckle.

Beautiful images, truly breath taking.
Oh and if you believe the Earth is around 6000 years old, you are either stupid, willfully ignorant or brain washed. End of argument.

You know what argument profounded me the most from any Young Earth Creationist?
The "they assume the speed of light is constant" argument... my jaw dropped at how insane that argument was.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Well then, since you know stars are shrinking and the sun is a star and you believe the Earth and the universe is billions of years old uhhh... then the sun use to be bigger right? How could the Earth survive inside the sun 2,000,000,000 years ago? I'm sure you're good at excuses just like all your other buddies. Hey I want to lay out of work all next week and get paid for it, can you give me some excuses please??
ironman197268 1 year ago
@ironman197268
1. This assumes that the rate of shrinkage is constant. That assumption is baseless. (In fact, it is the uniformitarian assumption that creationists themselves sometimes complain about.) Other stars expand and contract cyclically. Our own sun might do the same on a small scale.
SchrodingersFinch 1 year ago
@ironman197268

TheRealVice 1 year ago
@TheRealVice How much you know about science is funny!! How can the red giant shrink down much smaller than it is now, when it ain't even here? I don't care what you or any scientist says, the sun is shrinking. You should put that science book down and pick up The Bible. Start at Matthew 5:22 cause you're an idiot to think the Earth is 4.6 billion years old

Lastly, the Bible also suggests a geocentric worldview with a square earth standing on four pillars... what?!
