I rented a Dodge when I was back in PA last year, it was the 4-door version like Highway Patrol and other agencies use, and I'm not a small guy but fit in the car well, it was FAST and got great mileage. I almost bought the Challenger, but I bought a pick up instead... go FORD! ;-)
Thanks Dodge for showing the behind the scenes on this commercial, I really love the commercial and seeing the behind the scenes really made it even more awesome! I hope to see more great original ads like these, it's really turning your company around IMO!
@242DEE Yankee Doodle Dandy, a military march that was originally used by the British, but adopted by Americans and slightly modified. Search Youtube for it, but always search in "fife and drum" version, that one is the best.
First off, to the people that have a habit to start arguing about American hstory, I recommend you actually study America and everything about it in a non-biased manner. (Talking to YOU Red Coats)
Second, who else thinks George Washington looks exactly like Robin Williams??????
United States Citizen here. This commercial is great but ...
The Dodge Challenger is assembled at the Brampton Assembly Plant in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. I am sure that Chrysler Group LLC (currently 22.46% foreign ownership) knows this and thus making Chrysler themselves fradulant as, and even though this is actually a beautiful commercial, the Dodge Challenger is not a US (American) product.
► This form of advertising is against the United States Federal Trade Commission [FTC] Standard.
@PJVITC Or Not.. Canada is part of North, America thus making the car and the commercial Ultimately American way to waste time researching Chrysler and the FTC when you've only succeeded in making in ass/ troll of yourself. Also if this commercial was "against" anything, which its not it would be the FCC..... You sir are a dildo
@Xx0zonexX if I may go further: It's not a commercial for anything but Dodge, and more specifically the Challenger. Sooooooooo his feable attempt to sound smart is wasted time.
Now why....would you want to go and bust my feel good bubble and bring me down like that, I don't know what nafta means and I don't care to.
All I know is that little commercial made me feel good about being an American. Your comment made me feel like you were trying to hurt someone you don't even know. Maybe that made you feel good, I stand by Pure Americana!
@kathysart3 Pure Americana? The car is built in Canada, The motor is made in Mexico, I sure hope this commercial is at least filmed in the U.S.A. Looks more like "Pure N.A.F.T.A." to me baby.
@ENCOMAN ummmm no its not we got the parts from Canada and them But we made it and made its own body frame. We send them the blue prints of the parts and they make them for us to save money....
Ha... the Creative Director, Joe Staples, was born in London... film director, Steve Rogers, is Australian... Chrysler, after about a decade of being owned by a German company, is now part owned by Fiat and the U.S. taxpayers... and the car itself is made in Ontario, Canada. I'm fine with all that, I'm just saying -- the target audience for this ad would puke if they had any idea.
@JRBeaman Then let them puke -- nobody said truth was sugar-coated. And among ADULTS, knowledge is never inappropriate. Look, I love the U.S. and accept its complex history. In the ad, I love the car brigade... and even like the car. And yes, it's just an ad. But it manipulates you by pandering, and in what turns out to be a very ironic way. How does that not make you feel used and disrespected? Remember, you don't HAVE to fall in line with propaganda to be a patriot.
@JRBeaman Re-watch the video you posted about American manufacturing, read by the College Girl. Per that, the whole premise of this Dodge ad is a lie.
@jackster1212 Not what the people of America get from this video.
You are adding your personal non-aAmerican knowledge to what dodge may be doing, or where it was shot, but the message, simple and clean, without all the baggage you bring out, is what our people are responding to. Don't cloud the good feeling we get from it with tangential stuff.
@JRBeaman It will probably upset you, but I'm American... born and raised in Philly, home of the Liberty Bell. It also happens that I work in advertising and have for nearly 20 years. As for knowledge, I believe that it once was important for Americans to try to understand the world.... know-how, in fact, was our advantage... but we're trading it away, replacing it with feel-good posturing and shallow politics. Frankly, most Americans have indulged in ignoring the tangential stuff for too long.
To interject the tangential information, though I agree is important, into a video posting that reminds Americans what the message brings out of them, is a disservice. Just wrong place wrong time for what is also sorely needed.
It's like telling your kid near the end of a great movie that he has to clean his room when he gets home.
Why ruin it?
Let them enjoy the good feelings of pride, made in America, and winning our freedom linger, it may do more good.
@JRBeaman JR, I think I get you right. I simply think some of what you SAY is wrong. Very different. I "get" what you way on manufacturing and even on the effect of the ad. But to fix your movie analogy, it's more like I'm telling the kid who loved Star Wars that the dialogue sucked. And you're right, that's wrong... to do to a kid. But that's the problem. We are NOT kids. And yet you're willing asking to be treated like one. You agree we need to wake up -- if not now, then when?
I just love how hilariously absurd and tongue-in-cheek these commercials are. And the look on George's face when he's driving the Dodge straight at the Redcoats is absolutely priceless.
@ajones1113 Yeah, Washington's like, I am gonna run these redcoats back to England where they came from!!! Take that! ha ha ha. But what is really funny is the look on the British's faces!! They are like what is that demonlike thing coming at us?? RUN!!!!! LOl!!!!
poor and pathetic. We dont make adverts with your people killing innocents for oil. Get a life. Freedom? You are under a dictatorship and you just dont tell people about it.
@christianoabreu i highly resent your comment were not poor were not pathetic and were sure as hell no a dictorship and if we were then you would need to find a new word for hitler tojo and mussolinis' rein and killing people for oil? i dont even know where in your ass you pulled that one from and i laugh because the us is prolly helping your country stay afloat

@kennykiller911 lol... err.... no that didnt happen in real life kid. Whats with the shouting? Are you feeling angry today? Its ok... Daddy's gone away now. Dont blame yourself... it wasn't your fault
@kennykiller911 Didn't take me that long at all to scroll down the page and read your comment kid.... and no .. thats not how it happened, just ask mommy and daddy. .cars weren't invented in 1776. But you already know that, so stop acting like a moron......faggot!
@kennykiller911 Hahaha... erm.. ok, as long as your sorry... FAGGOT. Do you also believe in dragons and elves? You really are coming across as a retarded person dude. Seriously.. were you in the 'special needs section' at school? Do yourself a favour and shut the fuck up.... faggot.
@gamblemadman lol, u stupid faggot :p im not gonna even bother reading that. and just call u a bitchface :] also ur stupid :/ come up with ur own derogatory insults.
@Quy4life African Americans have served in every American war, including the Revolutionary War. In that war many slaves fought in both the British Army and the Continental Army on the promise that they would be freed.

Great concept and one of the best commercials I have seen in a very long time.
What could be more intimidating than the Father of our country (George Washington - Titan990 he was more than the original Chuck Norris he was the REAL Chuck Norris) driving a Dodge Challenger into the ranks of a line of tactically assembled Redcoats and routing them from the battlefield?
@Tehlovin nahhh i dont know about the barbary wars. Those were small, but entirely fought by US marines. Blacks usually werent marines during the early 1800s.
@ManvsMachine7 Haven't you heard of Crispus Attucks (a black man shot in the Boston Massacre)? Not all soldiers (British or American) were white; not all blacks were slaves.
Im sure that this commercial was a 15 hour day per day just like many other commercials, and the selling product is of high quality standards but a car built in Canada with a motor built in mexico and a U.S. flag sticking out the window just seems wrong. Hopefuly the commercial was fimed in the U.S.A. by Americans. God help us .

It was the challengers driven by our founding fathers that saved Ameica.
Maybe they should do Wellington's Challengers at Waterloo

Im sure that this commercial was a 15 hour day per day just like many other commercials, and the selling product is of high quality standards but a car built in Canada with a motor built in mexico and a U.S. flag sticking out the window just seems wrong. Hopefuly the commercial was fimed in the U.S.A. by Americans. God help us .

if they had these back then, I bet George Washington would get one over a Mustang and a Camaro.
