@Dsteeze1234 It's a great pick! It's hard to find a big man with such athleticism. Besides, this pick will allow Bargs to play purely at his natural 4 position. I would love to see BC make some moves to sign Brandon Jennings some how. Throw Jose in the deal with a pick and maybe Anthony Carter for filler (lol), although having Harrison Barnes would be sick. BJ's chemistry with Demar will be unreal. Jennings/Demar/JJohnson/Bargs/Valanciunas......OKC of the East. Welcome to Toronto Jonas :)

@1PunchKO100 K how r u going to compare this guy to karl malone?!?!? no offence but because of that, your statement/arguement will not even be considered in my mind.
@XanderTHC that no one thought Karl Malone was going to be good idiot. Hence he was drafted at no 13. Use some logic in your thinking. No comparison in play stile or potential or any other aspect. Just the fact that some of the best are dismissed at first. THINK

first off you cant dismiss someone before they even have a chance to prove themselves in the NBA.

even if the rapts didnt want PROVEN clutch players like walker and knight and was looking for a center, it seems that biyombo can do everything better and to me can make an impact now. colangelo tends to be a miracle worker so we'll see what happens...
every team in the top five of the draft picked players that are expected to make an impact in the nba in a short period of time. why do the rapts have to pick ANOTHER euro centre that is a working progress? That didnt work to well before.....
@seanaferyn Most raptors fans are... With few exceptions. They know nothing about basketball other than how they hate Hedo, Bosh, and think all euros are worthless. Its sometimes very embarrassing to be a raptors fan, they give knowledgeable fans a bad name...
Does no one else see a little Andrew Bynum in this kid? A little shorter but probalbly better knees.. His number 1 skill is keeping the ball when he catches it. See Tim Duncan, Bynum and Gasol. So he needs 30 pounds a 15 foot jumper and experience. I'd say this pick has a chance( I said a CHANCE) to make up for Il Mago. Also I hope he does not play this year so we can get Harrison Barnes! That's what's up Colangelo.

How the fuck do people think Bayless is as good as Knight or Walker. Bayless is a smart kid, willing to learn and work hard, but he really isn't that great a basketball player. He's not bad, but he's definitely not a starting point guard in the nba. People that say he's as good as Knight and Walker are retarded
Bayless had to play against harder opponents in college and he had better stats than both of them. Those two may or may not become better players than Bayless but i doubt there is going to be that much of a difference.
There should not be any personal resentment toward Jonas but raptor fans should target the management, im sure he has what it takes to be a good NBA player but the Raptors have 0 room for error this team needs to improve almost everything, this pick is a big risk and Toronto cant take risks anymore thats what happens when every year a team is in the lottery and has virtually nothing to show for it.
@Jemin518 Lol dude taking every player is a risk, Maybe he will play better in the nba than he did in europe who knows this video proves absolutely nothing
I love the raptors but I had the Toronto fans. How stupid is a city that bad mouths it's own players. Why would any free agent want to play here? The fans are morons and don't deserve a good team
And these morons wonder why nobody wants to play here.. is not the city or the fact that we are north of the border, is the fact that most raptors fans are idiots. They trash all their players and then wonder why they aren't playing with motivation.. who would want to play for idiots like these.
@clc054321 Agree with u, i just can't understand all these haters who never saw Jonas playing, we will see what they will be talking when Jonas will be beasting in few years time
@tomiejus Exactly.. I want to see what they say next year after they watch Brandon and Kemba play and realize that those two are at the same level as Bayless. Right now Bayless is better than those two and their ceiling are about the same. If it wasn't for all those guys who pulled out of the drafts, then Brandon and Kemba wouldn't even be lottery picks.
Say what you wanna say, he's still an atlhetic 7-footer, good on the pick-and-roll, good rebounder and a good free throw shooter...he'll make the small things some players won't do...why? Cuz this guy's got heart...can't teach that..
And he's 19, playing against men for the second straight year...he won't be a superstar, but he'll be a key piece in the rebuilding raptors
waaw i only watched 4 minutes of the video and i think this is the crapiest center. first of all i didn't see any post up moves wich is a must have for a center, i didnt see any blocks, i didnt see him finish after a foul (n1) all i saw is him making open layops
@redgateway13 I could name a couple Centers that don't have post up moves in the NBA. I heard of one that won an NBA championship names Tyson Chandler
The last 3 NBA champions had Euros as their best big man (Gasol, Nowitzki) and people are still so ignorant as to brush Valanciunas off just because of Bargnani... wow, Toronto...... WELCOME TO CANADA, JONAS!!!
And I love how everyone gets a kick out of hating on bargnani....the kid is only 25 averaged 21.4 ppg.....he is 7'2" and has one of the deadliest 3-point shots in the game....yes, he has some significant D and RB liabilities but he has improved his game every year he's been in the league and his skills combined with his physical traits make him a truly unique talent.....and really who else could BC have taken that year in the draft? Aldridge? Tyrus? Gay? Roy? Maybe Adam Morrison LOL
@sonido007 lol at everyone slamming this pick....who else would they rather have seen taken? Knight? Kemba? coin flip between who will be better. Biyombo? The guy literally has trouble making a layup....I can only imagine what all the same people on here would be saying about that pick had BC gone that way (and thank god he didn't).....all things considered I think it's a great pick and if there is a season I predict this kid will suit up opening night....BC will figure out a buyout....
he is a good pick, he has good tech. but can't create on his own. he is also a good ft. shooter at 90%. def. has potential, i dont mind the risk. we are going to get top 5 next year anyways w/c is alot better than this year's draft. we already have bayless and calderon.
Dudes never averaged more then 14 ppg other then in his 18u championship so honestly another brutal pick by the raptors we dont need another international player
Wow there are A LOT of stupid basketball fans out there.....his kid is 19 and is by far the best center in the draft.....his game is about as different from Bargnani's as Muggsey Bogues' is.....if not for his contract situation, NO WAY ON EARTH he's still on the board when the Raps pick at #5.....BC saw an opportunity and grabbed it.....yes its a risk and maybe Knight was the safer pick but this kid's potential is 10 times what Knight's is so I say good for BC for having some balls....
@rkorus Finally somebody gets it, this guy can be an actual 15,10 guy, Raps don't have that, why do we need a PG when we have Jose's playmaking along with Bayless's and Barbosa's scoring. Raps needed a C more than a PG
Why do raptors always pick these soft ass euro... This guy a star in the nba? pfft lets be realistic... just wait till he gets to the nba and thrown around in the paint just like every other euro bigman.
@Toddzilla1337 I'm not so sure... the guy has size which can't be taught and fundamentals which are generally quite solid. He also has a will to put it in the paint and rough it up a bit. I think the Raptors are capable of beefing up his game.
On a side note, this is the first Raptor player who has been younger than me. I died a little inside when I heard that.
This dude is 7 foot and can barely dunk. WTF TORONTO? He is too soft for the NBA, he wont be gettin those soft layups in the NBA. And no way in hell can he try to front Dwight Howard. He is to thin.
at 1st i thought this guy would completely suck and waste a whole year but now i see that hes pretty tough its just that hes gotta fill out his frame and gain like 30-40 more pounds and work on his footwork and footspeed if he's gonna run like he said he will. if he doesn't players like perkins, dejuan blair and even kanter will push his toothpick body and arms outta the way
Worst thing raptors could have ever done was give up Roy Hibbert in my opinion would have made a fine starting centre and Andrea could play the PF alowing us to draft a guard because our guard play is the worst
I thought it was a great pick. This was a shit draft this year - and this guy is being touted as the next Pau Gasol. Why not take the risk? What do we loose? A second string guard?
Even if he pans out to be the likes of Kevin Love - Could you imagine what our front court would look like in 3-4 years: Ed Davis, Jonas and Amir.. Seems to me like a worthwhile experiment..
This reacton from you guys is why toronto sports franchises are a joke. you seriously would have picked biyombo before this kid? the dude cant even make a layup. this kid is a sick athlete, great motor, good defensive instincts, great hands. you clearly know nothing if you dont like this pick. no player would make an immediate impact big enough to make toronto good next year, patience is a virtue, relax a bit.
If i knew colangelo would have taken a center; he should have just taken bismack byombo? Could have made an immediate impact instead on waiting 2-3 more years for results seriously.
even though we got jonas it isn't so bad. I'm happy for Tristan Thompson and the cavaliers. Looking forward to watch this kid play with kyrie in cleveland.
So many Toronto Raptors fans are outraged! Especially me, we don't need another international player we could've used more of a point guard... Everyone was expecting Brandon Knight, Kemba Walker or Jimmer Fredette disappointing move again by Brian Colangelo... But mad respect for Tristan Thompson making the highest Canadian pick in the draft at #4 by Cleveland Cavs.
I'm happy with this pick I heard he can't shoot from the outside and camps in the paint even if hes a poor mans pau gasol its better then having a lazy guy that cant rebound
PEOPLE DONT REALISE THAT TORONTO IS FORCED TO SELECT EURO'S BECAUSE THEY LIKE CANADA MORE THAN THE U.S AND ARE MORE LIKELY TO RE-SIGN INSTEAD OF BOUNCING LIKE VINCE, TMAC, BOSH
YA THEY COULD HAVE GOT A BETTER PLAYER. BUT NOT ONE THAT WOULD STAY FOR MORE THAN A ROOKIE CONTRACT....
BLACK PEOPLE DONT GROW UP DREAMING OF PLAYING FOR THE RAPS IN CANADA. THATS WHY THIS PICK MAKES SENSE....
@kennygriff LOL u have no idea what your talking about, toronto is one of the biggest cities in North America and is loved by players... ask Shaq among other players, Vince Carter was the Face of the NBA and loved toronto before he was ran out of town.... Your an idiot
@kennygriff this is completely false... all three of those players did not leave because it was toronto and all except tmac stayed far passed there rookie contracts, your and idiot. have a nice day.
@kennygriff Actaully your way off. Comments like that are what gives Canada a bad rep. Believe it or not this Kid is actaully the best center in the draft. and Will become a key part of are team and most importantly is a sign that Bargnani is getting traded.
@kennygriff You're an idiot. Bosh played in Toronto for 7 years, Vince for 6 1/2. Neither "bounced" after their rookie contracts. In fact, ONLY TMac has ever done that.
Do "black people" dream about playing in Minesotta, Clevland, San Antonio etc? There's a huge black community in Tor.
The Raps pick Euro's more because we have a European VP (Maurizio Gherardini) and great scouts.
But you wouldn't know any of that because, as I mentioned, you're an idiot. Turn off your caps lock.
@kennygriff Shut up. you are so ignorant All those players left because they wanted to WIN. except for Tmac who just wanted to be a star. Everyone who's played there loved the city. Plus, both Vince and Bosh stayed longer than their rookie contract. But when they weren't winning, they left.
He's good, and I think he will be a good player in NBA like and all lithuanians. :] I'm from Lithuania, so I like him. :] Go JV! They with Kleiza will be the best! And guys from Toronto Shut up!
I am so glad BC picked him instead of going for Kemba who can't shoot from 3 and is a far worse defender than Bayless. You people have to realize that Kemba is just going to be another Jonny Fling
You fakin' loosers, when u see Valanciunas playing, then u can talk, Kemba is very good? :DDDDDDDD Look at his dribbling skills... He is payer who can do 20 ppg in bobcats 35% fg and loose everything!
You guys are so arrogant and narrow-minded. Not all european big men are soft and only shoot the 3 ... He is OVERALL Best Center in this draft....... BC picked him because of his potential......and i agree with him due to the lack of talent in this year's draft... Plus why get walker or knight if we can get a Toronto Native PG who is more talented PURE pg than the other two :P
wonder how people can have any say in how this guy is going to be without really knowing what he could be in 3-4 years........personally its way to early to write him off...
@skltu LOL You can give lessons only if you remember the great college days of Magic, Larry and Patrick and the great performances by Willis Reed, John Havlicek and other greats. Yes I remember. Still, this guy is soft...
most people hate this pick but most gm's think this kid could be the best player in this draft. 7'0 245 skilled big man and only 19, pair him with bargnani you'll have a great tandem
@kohlink1 You're an idiot.

How the fuck do people think Bayless is as good as Knight or Walker. Bayless is a smart kid, willing to learn and work hard, but he really isn't that great a basketball player. He's not bad, but he's definitely not a starting point guard in the nba. People that say he's as good as Knight and Walker are retarded
josespanishfly 8 months ago
@josespanishfly Oh and btw.. when he was in college he had to go against the likes of Rose, Beasly, and Westbrook.
clc054321 8 months ago
Bayless had to play against harder opponents in college and he had better stats than both of them. Those two may or may not become better players than Bayless but i doubt there is going to be that much of a difference.
clc054321 8 months ago
this guy better be fucking good
looolzzz123 8 months ago
Am going to give him a chance don't see why Raptors fans are hating
wavez9 8 months ago
There should not be any personal resentment toward Jonas but raptor fans should target the management, im sure he has what it takes to be a good NBA player but the Raptors have 0 room for error this team needs to improve almost everything, this pick is a big risk and Toronto cant take risks anymore thats what happens when every year a team is in the lottery and has virtually nothing to show for it.

And these morons wonder why nobody wants to play here.. is not the city or the fact that we are north of the border, is the fact that most raptors fans are idiots. They trash all their players and then wonder why they aren't playing with motivation.. who would want to play for idiots like these.
clc054321 8 months ago
@clc054321 Agree with u, i just can't understand all these haters who never saw Jonas playing, we will see what they will be talking when Jonas will be beasting in few years time
tomiejus 8 months ago
@tomiejus Exactly.. I want to see what they say next year after they watch Brandon and Kemba play and realize that those two are at the same level as Bayless. Right now Bayless is better than those two and their ceiling are about the same. If it wasn't for all those guys who pulled out of the drafts, then Brandon and Kemba wouldn't even be lottery picks.
clc054321 8 months ago
We are soooooo screwed again. Granted it wasn't a good draft class.

V1NnY2 8 months ago 2
waaw i only watched 4 minutes of the video and i think this is the crapiest center. first of all i didn't see any post up moves wich is a must have for a center, i didnt see any blocks, i didnt see him finish after a foul (n1) all i saw is him making open layops
redgateway13 8 months ago
@redgateway13 I could name a couple Centers that don't have post up moves in the NBA. I heard of one that won an NBA championship names Tyson Chandler
medtonic 8 months ago
@redgateway13
The blocks are a little after...he's got some good blocking skills
Keep in my mind he's not playing against other kids in the NCAA...he's playing with men in professional BB...here's the difference...

Look how beautiful Lithuania is and stop bitching about Jonas. He does not understand english
Pelaitis 8 months ago
The last 3 NBA champions had Euros as their best big man (Gasol, Nowitzki) and people are still so ignorant as to brush Valanciunas off just because of Bargnani... wow, Toronto...... WELCOME TO CANADA, JONAS!!!
justindyck 8 months ago
And I love how everyone gets a kick out of hating on bargnani....the kid is only 25 averaged 21.4 ppg.....he is 7'2" and has one of the deadliest 3-point shots in the game....yes, he has some significant D and RB liabilities but he has improved his game every year he's been in the league and his skills combined with his physical traits make him a truly unique talent.....and really who else could BC have taken that year in the draft? Aldridge? Tyrus? Gay? Roy? Maybe Adam Morrison LOL
rkorus 8 months ago
@sonido007 lol at everyone slamming this pick....who else would they rather have seen taken? Knight? Kemba? coin flip between who will be better. Biyombo? The guy literally has trouble making a layup....I can only imagine what all the same people on here would be saying about that pick had BC gone that way (and thank god he didn't).....all things considered I think it's a great pick and if there is a season I predict this kid will suit up opening night....BC will figure out a buyout....
rkorus 8 months ago
Wow, he's master of the layup. Another shitty pick by the Raptors.
TheAndrew668 8 months ago
@TheAndrew668 the kid's 19 and he's got plenty of talent a true center the raps need...chill out bro give him some time....
kallenpau 8 months ago
as long as he plays near the basket, rebounds, blocks shots and doesn't take 3-pointers (Bargnani) I'm all for it.
rwindows18 8 months ago
its mostly dunks...i dont mind watching the cheerleaders...shakin their booty..
djdanresult23 8 months ago
he is a good pick, he has good tech. but can't create on his own. he is also a good ft. shooter at 90%. def. has potential, i dont mind the risk. we are going to get top 5 next year anyways w/c is alot better than this year's draft. we already have bayless and calderon.
hobbledehoyification 8 months ago
@hobbledehoyification top 5 ru insane? we ll have lucky even if the raps make the playoffs

@6solomon9 top 5 in nba picks
hobbledehoyification 8 months ago
Dudes never averaged more then 14 ppg other then in his 18u championship so honestly another brutal pick by the raptors we dont need another international player
kslayz420 8 months ago
Wow there are A LOT of stupid basketball fans out there.....his kid is 19 and is by far the best center in the draft.....his game is about as different from Bargnani's as Muggsey Bogues' is.....if not for his contract situation, NO WAY ON EARTH he's still on the board when the Raps pick at #5.....BC saw an opportunity and grabbed it.....yes its a risk and maybe Knight was the safer pick but this kid's potential is 10 times what Knight's is so I say good for BC for having some balls....
rkorus 8 months ago
@rkorus Finally somebody gets it, this guy can be an actual 15,10 guy, Raps don't have that, why do we need a PG when we have Jose's playmaking along with Bayless's and Barbosa's scoring. Raps needed a C more than a PG
Sonido007 8 months ago
Why do raptors always pick these soft ass euro... This guy a star in the nba? pfft lets be realistic... just wait till he gets to the nba and thrown around in the paint just like every other euro bigman.
Akaserfer13 8 months ago
@Akaserfer13 yes... dirk...
eriiya14 8 months ago
This guy went 5th? He looks like he has the athleticism of a 12 year old boy who just grew 10" from puberty in the last 3 months.
-He has some of the LEAST authoritative dunks I have ever seen come out of a man his size
-His lay-ins are painfully textbook
-His running form makes a new born giraffe look like Steve Prefontaine!
I would hardly waste a 2nd round pick on this guy based off of this "highlight" video.
Toddzilla1337 8 months ago
@Toddzilla1337 I'm not so sure... the guy has size which can't be taught and fundamentals which are generally quite solid. He also has a will to put it in the paint and rough it up a bit. I think the Raptors are capable of beefing up his game.
On a side note, this is the first Raptor player who has been younger than me. I died a little inside when I heard that.

This dude is 7 foot and can barely dunk. WTF TORONTO? He is too soft for the NBA, he wont be gettin those soft layups in the NBA. And no way in hell can he try to front Dwight Howard. He is to thin.

Comparisons to a more athletic Pau Gasol? Lets wait and see...
blubber25 8 months ago
at 1st i thought this guy would completely suck and waste a whole year but now i see that hes pretty tough its just that hes gotta fill out his frame and gain like 30-40 more pounds and work on his footwork and footspeed if he's gonna run like he said he will. if he doesn't players like perkins, dejuan blair and even kanter will push his toothpick body and arms outta the way
VeKKtorious 8 months ago
@VeKKtorious Gaining 30-40 pounds will take years, terrible pick.
Zackarius14 8 months ago
Worst thing raptors could have ever done was give up Roy Hibbert in my opinion would have made a fine starting centre and Andrea could play the PF alowing us to draft a guard because our guard play is the worst
sbg75 8 months ago
Welcome in Toronto ;-)
RapsFan1524 8 months ago

Jamescoolification 8 months ago
@kennygriff Actaully your way off. Comments like that are what gives Canada a bad rep. Believe it or not this Kid is actaully the best center in the draft. and Will become a key part of are team and most importantly is a sign that Bargnani is getting traded.
Wesson4 8 months ago
@kennygriff You're an idiot. Bosh played in Toronto for 7 years, Vince for 6 1/2. Neither "bounced" after their rookie contracts. In fact, ONLY TMac has ever done that.
Do "black people" dream about playing in Minesotta, Clevland, San Antonio etc? There's a huge black community in Tor.
The Raps pick Euro's more because we have a European VP (Maurizio Gherardini) and great scouts.
But you wouldn't know any of that because, as I mentioned, you're an idiot. Turn off your caps lock.
GlenDanzig 8 months ago 2
@kennygriff then why would we select derozan and davis? Seriously, this is a weak draft and Jonas was the best player available.

@kennygriff Shut up. you are so ignorant All those players left because they wanted to WIN. except for Tmac who just wanted to be a star. Everyone who's played there loved the city. Plus, both Vince and Bosh stayed longer than their rookie contract. But when they weren't winning, they left.
