  • thank you for posting

  • I absolutely LOVE this song. TR is still producing and is alive and well. Love you, Man, for your great music. Takes me back.

  • I wonder why Todd used his nickname for the artist billin' on the song?

  • @DaveWollenberg How do you mean?

  • @73soulboy Todd's nickname was 'Runt'. Runt isn't a group name.

  • @DaveWollenberg takes 1 to know one

  • Great song, thanks for putting it up - Todd is so good and a little underrated - nice to see others appreciate him .

  • Or maybe they have a different opinion from you and I didn't like the song. Geez

  • One of my favorite songs..

  • to the 6 people who dislike this song: Maybe you all NEVER got a woman, and you are all pissed off!

  • in our current music world. we have gaga. we have bieber. we have beyonce. we have kanye west. we have bruno mars. we have SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT. i am so glad that I grew up in a era when music meant something and can evoke a sense of warmth and remembrance from a day long gone. I clan close my eyes when I listen to this and I am a kid again. I close my eyes when I hear gaga, bieber, beyonce, kanye. and I put my hands over my ears and scream! to drown out the shitnoise.

  • @TRANSlSTORradio I remember when I had a gift of a radio, in the form of a yellow owl, or a coke bottle, too!

stay kind, today, ain't all that bad!

  • Good music just makes me smile, thanks!

  • Back when music had meaning, this was on the top of my list!!! Thanks for posting from old guys like me!

  • Awesome song and video. I recognize the Radio from the video for, 'Friends and lovers' "Reach out of the darkness". Thank you for bringing this great tune here too. Peace always...

  • This song reminds me of my father.

  • This is an exceptional yet underplayed song with extremely well conjoined lyrics, mellow personality and very memorable melody. Todd Rundgren's best. Enjoy.

  • My twin brother was always off with his friends. This song reminds me of the their early recognition of girls.

  • Comment removed

  • we were kids n this was so sweet.True music.NO artifice

  • This was used in Ally McBeal's 5th season were the office staff sing to John Cage.

  • What's wrong with the video? I still own a transistor radio similar to the one shown. And those shades. Those and the song brought me back. Thanks.

  • Got here fron the New Cars. I loved this song from the time I was in HS.

  • "they may be stupid but they sure are fun." you can't get away with lyrics like that anymore. I loved this song since I was a young kid, before I ever had a woman.

  • One word,,,Classic

  • @aquiariots72 Amen friend- always

  • This song makes me smile.

  • The skating rink in the 8th grade!

  • One of the catchiest songs of all time...Never as popular as it should have been, but once you've heard it, you never forget it!

  • Hey transistor, I hear ya loud and clear! All that you mentioned (that incredible excuse for music) , when it is actually an INSULT to the real artists. What's so puzzling is that today's genre LIKES it...They just don't KNOW any better...Go out and turn on THIS genreation to the greats of rock n rol, R&B,soul, blues etc.... of yesteryear....... I have a local show and would not ever even consider playing all that CRAPOLA that you mentioned....right on TRANSISTOR!

  • i heard this song before the ringer hes my moms favorite artist and my dad had this cd in the car when i was like 8. Gives me a feeling of nostalgia. Thank you for this post

  • Great song and good pick for the video---with their iPods, kids nowadays have no idea what a transistor radio is.

  • I still have my 45 of this! GREAT SONG! THANKS TODD!

  • they may be stupid but they sure are fun......pretty much sums up life

  • Get me one, too? One two=12 women. Kewl.

  • nice

  • @VICKY3610; I agree with you! We were blessed to be alive to witness the rennaissance of rock music in the '70's! To hear this music & be almost physically transported back to that time our lives.... it's better than any drug! :-)

  • I would be embarrassed by this, if I was Todd. I think this is one of the flakiest songs ever written! The way women are discussed here as 'inamimate objects' . He might as well say, "we gotta get you a candy bar"!

  • @XbaseballkidX98 I knew this song way before the RINGER. when I saw the RINGER, I was glad as to how they used the song. It is a great song, and I am glad that it has found a new audience. the RINGER was a funny movie as well......thanks for listening.

  • @TRANSlSTORradio bacon. eggs. greg. courtney. birmingham, alabam 1974.

    Mom.

Transistor radio, in any plastic shape.

  • i found out about this song on the ringer

  • man let me go back to these days for just one more.....shit today sucks

  • It is such a jazzy and hip little number, musically so wonderfully arranged, full of sound and clever timing....and then, no matter how many times I have heard the song, I still wait for that wonderful finishing punch line... "When we're through with you, we'll get me one too....", a wonderful song, creative all the way sets up that one line...very very well done Todd.

  • Rundgren is a musical genius

  • this song takes you back to when music was fun to listen to

  • My generation is just fucked up. This is what people listen to nowadays watch?v=ApyiAjjwj4w&feature=channel_video_title . Fuck me.

  • Grew up listening to Todd Rundren's hits...this is one of my favs....Awesome!

  • leroy boy your friend

  • I'm only 13 and I've been listening to Todd Rundgren's music since I was 3. My parents had his "Best of todd rundgren" or whatever it was called, I can't remember.

  • "...they may be stupid, but they sure are fun..." YEAH!!

  • Todd is The Beatles in one guy.

  • You guys got it right, when music was GOOD!

  • Reminds me of Carol King. Some of my earliest memories of music: "It's too late" and "Hello it's me"

  • freshman year in college, looking for a girlfriend!

  • I heard this song when it played on the radio in January and Febuary of 1971, It especially reminded me of the Sylmar earthquake that i felt while i lived in Pasadena, Fun year that was.

  • The record was released in June, 1970 and had heavy airplay for the rest of the year.

  • @popspoptunes Ya that makes sense I worked(In a crappy hot bakery) for a year before going off to an art school, It was between 69-70 I was stuck in bakery hell, this song was the few joys I had that year.

  • And from outta THE BURG in Trenton, NJ came a beautiful brunette -- Barbara Petroni!

  • The radio is really funny. This song was way before early 70s. It's actually from the 60s.

  • @rawcoyote I remember it being on the radio in the late 60s. Far Out!!!

  • @rawcoyote Actually, this song was released in June of 1970 on the Runt album.

  • cathy Sullivan turned me on to Todd R.....so young , so dum, me....mc

  • One of the best pop songs of late 1970........

  • i hear this song in the ringer with johnny noxville

  • one of those songs that take you right back to a particular summer; reminds me of my buffalo river home, and a girl named Dody.....

  • A great song!

  • dont know if this was on the nazz album, but it was on the "runt" album about 1969

  • Beautiful. I love this song. Thanks for the upload.

  • Played at my wedding. Will be married 39 years come June 19.

  • heard this song in charming charlies and LOVED IT!!!!

  • couldn't they haven't at least included a bottle of Coppertone?

  • Just a fantastic song, the harmonies are beautiful!

  • And when we get you one we're gonna get me one too

  • JollyCholly--Yes, this song was originally released by Nazz

  • @MrNiceJoeB

Are you sure you're not confusing this with "Hello It's Me"?

"We Gotta get You A Woman" wasn't on any of the Nazz LPs.

  • @BritIronRebel

Not confused about the song, just the name...We Gotta Get You a Woman was on the Runt album...

  • didn't todd do this much earlier, with the Nazz? I remember hearing in on AM radio when my mom drove me to school in 1967 (sixth grade). Or has time distorted my memory?????

  • I remember this song from the early 70s! And I remember transistor radios too! The two of those together, this is one of the best thingies ever on YouTube!

    awesomeness <3 <3 <3

  • Love this song! Thanks!

  • Ahhh the 70s. I could eat my tongue right now

  • I remember this song from the radio very well when I was a kid - no idea it was Todd, ha ha. live and learn.

I just thought he was in Utopia when I was a kid, how wrong I was.

  • gr8 song the "B" side is cool also

  • I need a woman who has been around...etc..

  • Absolutely a great tune!!!!!!

  • He recorded this in his garage playing all the instruments and doing all the vocals and wrote the lyrics !!!!!!! a genuine musician a genius !!!!!!! who can do this today?????

  • i LOVE THIS SONG! THANKS FOR POSTING...BRINGS BACK MEMORIES

  • IT LETS ME FLOAT BACK TO 1971 AND THE LOVE OF MY 'S DAD'S NAME WAS LE ROY. WE CONNECTED 40 YEARS LATER......I WANTED THE MIDDLE.. IT WAS GONE.. BUT I STILL LOVE IN MY HEART FOR HIM/././././

  • song always makes me remember what's best in life...we gotta get you a women

  • i forgot how much i loved this song.. grade 10 pour moi.

  • ...they may be stupid but they sure are fun! great line.

  • Such a great song. A beautiful trip down memory lane for me. Thanks :)

  • aahhh memories from the 70s and i helped promote this with my promo team..wonderful words and perfection throughout.....thanks

  • I like the words

  • I was 11or so, when this song came out. The early seventies were a great time or life and maturity. I'm glad I lived then. It's the older generation that fucked it up (ww II).

  • Saw him with utopia at the Park West in Chicago 1980?

  • Great song. Very catchy. No disrespect to Todd Rundgren but this song is heavily influenced by Laura Nyro. He's acknowledged an influence but--wow!--this could be a Laura song.

  • This is one of the best songs of all time. I have loved this song since I was a teen, and I still feel the same when I hear it....thirty five years later. Amazing melodies, and feeling. Todd Rundgren is the best.

  • Todd still rocks the House of Blues in N.O. I lost his albums in Katrina: what a tragedy...  

  • @ChrissieE5 This played constantly on the juke box and Brothers and the Barrel (there was a 3rd bar) when I was a freshman at LSUNO 1971. Remember it like it was yesterday.

  • @ChrissieE5 I can so relate! I used to hear this on the jukebox constantly at Brothers, The Barrel, and can't remember the name of the 3rd in a trio of bars where LSUNO students gathered 1971-2 lots of foosball playing. Levon and Steely Dan also.(sp?).They were on the corner of Robert E.Lee and Elysian Fields Ave.

  • Thanks for the upload--this is one of my favorite songs from the 70s & it's not on any of the CD compliations I have. I've rarely heard this song since the late 70s, the oldies station I regularly listen to NEVER plays it.

  • All I can say again is...I am so blessed to grow up with fantastic music..As someone else posted...Just the fantastic feeling that came from music when you are a young teen girl in the 70's.Wouldnt have wanted to be from any other era!!!Best rock groups from the 70's as well!!!!Hold unto the memories!!!

  • @VICKY3610 i so know what you are saying.

  • @VICKY3610 THIS WAS WHEN MUSIC WAS MUSIC. NO LADY GAGA. NO JUSTIN BEIEBER. NO USHER. NO BEYONCE. NO 50 CENT....ALL THAT MUSIC IS SHIT AND WILL NEVER HOLD A SPECIAL PLACE IN ANYONES MEMORY THE WAY THESE SONGS DO. MUSIC OF THE PAST IS MUSIC THAT LASTS. THANK YOU FOR WATCHING.

  • Yes. after Nazz, great! And then....

    ...the rest is history!

  • @drdon5252 I thought I was the only Nazz fan out here

  • The first version of this Todd Rundgren song that I heard was performed by The Four Tops. Hey man/We've got to get you a woman. Levi Stubbs' vocals were exceptional.

  • @er20092009 That really pisses you off Hornytoad?

  • This was on American Top 40: The 70's over the weekend. The charts were from December 26, 1970, it debuted at #40.

  • This song STILL holds up! I've loved it since I first heard it on the radio in 1971!

  • im 18. and i just love this song

  • My best friend and I always thought we were the lady killer in the early 70's. Sock hops and going to the lake to meet foxes. This song always gave us hope and maybe a future with mamas. I am so glad I was around when song like this were around and life was full of hope and promises. We both got us a women and they were the best! I miss the innocent and happenings of the 1970's. Better get walking!

  • AWEsome. So few great players now...

  • I ALWAYS THOUGHT THIS WAS RECORDED UNDER THE NAME "RUNT" WHICH I UNDERSTAND WAS TODD'S NICKNAME...I LOST A BET CUZ I SWORE THE NAME OF THE GROUP WAS RUNT....I KNEW IT WAS HIM ...ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON THIS

  • This song was a big part of my life through my older sister and her friends. I guess as a young teeny bopper I was hoping to 'get me a woman' someday soon. Ha! Life was seemingly so simple back then.

  • 36 years later and the same hooks....better even. Thanks for posting.

  • one of Todd's better ones.

  • such an amazing artist...great song

  • I remember loving this song but never knowing who sang it....then I discovered Todd and was happy to know it was a TR song.

  • I'm listening to this one on a library PC, where upon entry I scoffed up a RUNT 45rpm single of this tune from the Free Bin they maintain here. What a find!

  • Pure Gold !

  • Jose Garcia - this song/wisdom is for you!

  • classic, period!

  • Just found your channel and it rocks! But you knew that, didn't you? I am linking this video to my Facebook page so others will come listen.

  • I've always thought that this was a wonderful Pop/Rock song. I used to play it in college on the radio station. One day, I got a call from a female student named Martha Coakley---anyone recognize that name? I was told that this song was sexist and anti-feminist, anti-female. I said, "huh"? If she was right, that concept still escapes me, 40 years later. Incidentally, back then, she had jet-black hair.

  • to Nigel- I think Ally McBeal used a different song. I think it was Can we still be Friends or I Saw the Light.

  • This was me a few years ago. Just like Leroy. lol. But I'm happily married now. So there is a hope!

  • i love how after all that todd says;oh wait,i want a girl too,i went to the same highschool as tood,35 years later, does anyone care?

  • Last line of song is great..."and when we're through with you, we'll get me one too. Priceless!

  • "And when we're through with you... we'll get me one, too." That one line there just makes ya think of the true friends that always put you before themselves.

  • This rocks!

  • Best song of 1970 .. I think that was the year of release.

  • Cool !

  • I was a young girl when this song was popular. LOVED it then as much as I do now :)

  • Still a GREAT song.

  • God this song just makes me smile. The music and lyrics! A woman wHo's been around ONE WHO KNOWS BETTER THAN TO LET YOU DOWN,AND WHEN WERE THROUGH WITH YOU WE'LL GET ME ONE TO.He PUTS A LOT OF HEART SOUL AND EXPERIENCE IN WORDs TO GREAT MUSIC,HE IS AWESOM,SEEMS LIKE A NICE GUY FROM WHAT I HEAR!
