Why don't they issue this second series of gigs from the Half Note. The first double cd is fantastic and this sounds incredible. Can't say enough about this band, after playing dozens of their albums and CDs nothing else matters. Happy Coltrane freak
McCoy in my opinion has always been an underrated player, and his playing I believe was as innovative and groundbreaking as Coltrane's while they played together. COltrane knew this; apparently the public didn't catch on to the extent they did with Coltrane (WHo is at the very least a jazz demigod in my opinion). This recording is a gem, thanks for posting.

2 words MASTER AND RELEASE!!! This is a masterpiece and you cant even hear the bass. Imagine how much more you could appreciate this recording in full fidelity. Impulse better get they head right.
man i'm a true trane freak and chim chim (from the original album) is one of my top fave tunes on soprano.. so thanks a million for posting this.. I'm a pro jazz guitarist and making good progress learning tenor sax so this is inspiration pure.. bless!
@artistrapster Welcome to Coltrane freaks corner. We're obsessed with the sound, McCoy's out of this world sound and John's ferocious playing. It's my favourite tune, love Chim ChimCheree -Indescribeable
8 minutes in, Coltrane starts playing 'A Love Supreme' - so, a rare opportunity to hear him playing that in concert (the only other time I can think of is when the quartet performed the whole sweet at Antibes, also in '65).

@postmeback McCoy plays it too, at about 0:45.

@postmeback Aaaaahhh, and again at 5:20! It's so cool to see these ideas develop throughout the quintet's career.
