Nah, piloting a plane is generally easier than driving, and 80 year olds drive. Apart from landing, the rest is a walk in the park and really quite fun. Poor guy though, that is actually the 12th time this type of Cesna has crashed in the last 5 years, maybe it has something to do with the design of the plane? I think it needs to be investigated.

That's absolute nonsense.agentbong and nick. In a plane, you have to worry about travel in 3 dimensions rather than 2 dimensions. Plus taking off AND landing a plane (especially a small aircraft) is a much more complex procedure than simply parking your car. There are also a lot more varables to consider such as wind shear and stall conditions.. So to say that piloting a small aircraft is easier than driving is not only incorrect, it's just flat out idiotic.

All civilian flight licenses? I think with closer inspection of the accident, it would become evident that this could have been prevented another way. Such as the guy was 80 years old, and there should have been better health screening or something for his license. Or the plane hadn't been thoroughly enough inspected. Fatigue cracks commonly develop on airplane parts from cyclical stress and can lead to disaster if the plane isn't serviced and inspected at regular set intervals.
