Please stop saying Tamil family or Islam. It is a song and APJ enjoyed it fully. People who know the meaning enjoy sahitya and others enjoy SRI raaga bhava.
This keerthana got nothing to do with religion. Any music lover, broadminded and who understand meaning of this keerthan will love song (even if he/she is a Pakistani).
I bet half of people (I mean president staff) sitting in that hall will be puzzled what APJ like about this song.
we need to come out of the religion aspect...Mr. President Kalam is one of the few needs to be adored by Indians...hope we find more politicians like him in the future...
Look at the attention that the President of a country is paying to the presentation. He is watching the presentation with so much of dedication and even singing it by himself, enjoying the song as a normal person.
Hats off to you Sir. Honestly, "Endaro mahanubhavulu, andariki vandanamulu" applies to you!!
Haha. The audience are clueless diplomats. Maybe all except Kalam and a few others. APJ Abdul Kalam is surely an ideal picture of Indian diversity - a liberal Muslim scientist, who was president of the country, who is interested in Carnatic music, Indian philosophy and philanthropy. Makes me proud.
Prince Rama Varma is known for his accurate, long-drawn out, bhava-filled renditions of popular kritis. This one is no less.
He is from a Tamil family no doubt, but he was not a convert, his father was a muslim. Anyway, he has had good friends among Hindus who he recounts in his books.
Dr. Kalam is said to be very knowledgeable in carnatic music. It was nice to see him enjoy the presentations so much and sing along.
About Rama Varma, he is too good. Eventhough I don't know much about carnatic music, this is such a soulful rendition that it leaves you with a feeling of satisfaction.
Thank you for posting these videos. Prince has got wonderful voice and excellent diction! Surprisingly never heard about this vocalist before..Kudos to Musiquebox for offering carnatic music lovers a chance to listen to such amazing talents..
An old friend highly recommended Prince Varma's you tube videos and I would sure recommend this channel to my music loving friends.
I second that, world music addict.I heard his concert in m'bai. He gives a detailed explanation of the song; its sahityam and composer in his concerts making it insightful for the audience.
he is fabulous! perfect enunciation, perfect melody and much attention to detail. such sharp contrast to most people who sing this glorious song mindlessly and mechanically with absolutely no attention to the meaning. prince rama varma is incredibly refreshing. im told he is a fantastic veena player as well. could you post some of his veena videos if available? thanks.
