  • great thampuran great

  • except for two or three in the congregation, no one had any idea of carnatic music... sitting there with indifferent faces...

i also agree wit the inspiration from MD Ramanathan... his tone takes after the great one...

  • nyc

  • Multi talented Prince!

  • Nice to see Abdul Kalam Sir enjoying the song and singing himself...at 40,I have become half-bald and am jealous of him..LOL

  • superb voice thanks for posting

  • i read that the Prince was invited by Dr. APJ himself after listening to a cd...!! the then president of the country..... amazing...

  • It is a Telugu song..

  • Please stop saying Tamil family or Islam. It is a song and APJ enjoyed it fully. People who know the meaning enjoy sahitya and others enjoy SRI raaga bhava.

  • There are so many great people around!

Let me salute all of them!

    A gem of a composition...

  • This keerthana got nothing to do with religion. Any music lover, broadminded and who understand meaning of this keerthan will love song (even if he/she is a Pakistani).

I bet half of people (I mean president staff) sitting in that hall will be puzzled what APJ like about this song.

  • we need to come out of the religion aspect...Mr. President Kalam is one of the few needs to be adored by Indians...hope we find more politicians like him in the future...

  • I like the fact that APJ is singing along with Varma... he after all plays the Vina.

  • raaga sreeragam

  • Look at the simplicity of Mr. Kalam..

    Long Live APJ!!

  • Excellent. APJ's presence in the audience even makes this song more meaningful and dedicated to all eminent persons of the world.

  • Check out Varma Sir's site, w w w . ramavarma . synthasite . com and the Rama Varma community at orkut . com for more info

  • A wonderful recital of "Endaro Mahanubhavulu"

Look at the attention that the President of a country is paying to the presentation. He is watching the presentation with so much of dedication and even singing it by himself, enjoying the song as a normal person.

Hats off to you Sir. Honestly, "Endaro mahanubhavulu, andariki vandanamulu" applies to you!!

We are happy to have you as our President!!

  • @gorayz wel said.. actually my comment is too late:(.. but hatss off to kalam sir.. for his intense in classical music

  • Haha. The audience are clueless diplomats. Maybe all except Kalam and a few others. APJ Abdul Kalam is surely an ideal picture of Indian diversity - a liberal Muslim scientist, who was president of the country, who is interested in Carnatic music, Indian philosophy and philanthropy. Makes me proud.

Prince Rama Varma is known for his accurate, long-drawn out, bhava-filled renditions of popular kritis. This one is no less.

  • He is not a muslim ,his family was forced to convert into Islam like Rehman. He is a Hindu belongs to a Tamil family.

  • FORCED???? thts a funny word....! Rehman n Kalam are not bonded slaves to be forced into Isam.

  • He is from a Tamil family no doubt, but he was not a convert, his father was a muslim. Anyway, he has had good friends among Hindus who he recounts in his books.

  • Looks like most of the people in the auditorium have no clue :-) But Its very soothing.

  • good rendition - sounds like it is inspired by

the definitive rendition by M. D. Ramanathan!

  • I am sure Prince Varma will LOVE your comment!

  • double doeg

  • Dr. Kalam is said to be very knowledgeable in carnatic music. It was nice to see him enjoy the presentations so much and sing along.

About Rama Varma, he is too good. Eventhough I don't know much about carnatic music, this is such a soulful rendition that it leaves you with a feeling of satisfaction.

    Long live

  • after all the prince is the student of none other than the music mastreo Dr.M>Balamuralikrishna....

  • Prince Rama Varma is indeed a prince in every respect. His humble ways and manners endear him to one and all.He is one endaro mahanu bhava himself.

  • Yea..i second that

  • It is interesting to see Dr.Kalam enjoying. What a pity he could not continue.

  • stupid congress govt. he stopped sonia gandhi to become president so govt has replaced him.

very bad to see a dummy prime minster and inefficient president

  • Do we have a president?

  • hahaha thats nice ! its just a mockery of democracy ! stupid illiterate people want to rule the nation !

  • beautiful shruti..

  • Thank you for posting these videos. Prince has got wonderful voice and excellent diction! Surprisingly never heard about this vocalist before..Kudos to Musiquebox for offering carnatic music lovers a chance to listen to such amazing talents..

An old friend highly recommended Prince Varma's you tube videos and I would sure recommend this channel to my music loving friends.

  • really good!

  • His veena playing can be viewed now at webindia123

    d o t c o m. It has a very good interview with him too.

  • I second that, world music addict.I heard his concert in m'bai. He gives a detailed explanation of the song; its sahityam and composer in his concerts making it insightful for the audience.

  • your rit

  • he is fabulous! perfect enunciation, perfect melody and much attention to detail. such sharp contrast to most people who sing this glorious song mindlessly and mechanically with absolutely no attention to the meaning. prince rama varma is incredibly refreshing. im told he is a fantastic veena player as well. could you post some of his veena videos if available? thanks.
