  • fucking legends and legendary song

  • ma in jio!

  • 英九: 這是政治炒做

  • 太像了!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 幹馬英九欸!

  • WT....the drummer just like our(taiwan) president!!

  • @lazyboy740125

    太神啦!!英九!! @@b

  • 馬英九身兼鼓手耶!!

  • AMEN to the description

  • In the begining ,they said that Joy division had a drummer that couldn't keep a beat.A singer that couldn't sing (Ian Curtis),and a bass player that thought he was a lead guitarist. Boy were they wrong...

  • Get the audio from this track at thetunify doht cohm.

  • wow i would love to see this band live joy division are king

  • @festeringfigment Go to hooky's club round the corner from me in Manc and you can hear him play JD albums in their entirity.

  • great new touch to this by new order

  • @PAMAROSHOUSE Many people feel that this tune should have been left untouched, the original had poor sound quality unfortunately. Listening to this version, I think New Order did a wonderful job. I have really grown to like this rendition. Sure, it isn't Ian, but it seems to me that it was sung and played with passion, not like "Blah, here we go again".

  • @Elemental924 here here, i have both, one has an extra verse..but is completely indiscipherable almost..and the other is a timeless classic! the galaxie 500 version is worth a look for something diff.

  • Hooky is a serious inspiration, they all are really. Beautiful, uplifting yet melancholy. I despair at the sight of 13 dislikes >_> . . .

  • one of the best songs ever written. period.

  • how can anyone dislike this? cunts.

  • @cribsstewart Too right my friend.

  • Watch the drummer....wow!

  • absolutely awesome! love the morris..love the bernard.....massive fan from so cal!

  • All true - New Order are New Order because Joy Division were Joy Division until Ian died, then Joy Division were no more...

  • they are so influential, Hooky using the bass as rhythm which Nirvana picked up on, and the marked tempo changes loved by The Pixies are evident in this song

  • I hate to say it, but compared to other versions, this they sound a little shit on this one. Bernard's totally off.

  • "This one's for Dee Dee Ramone - God rest his soul. You could keep Ian company 'til I get there..." Hooks one of the coolest bass players of all time. I miss Dee Dee too.

  • wait why is there a confederate flag on sumner's guitar? I'm not accusing him of anything I'm sure theres a reason I just wanna know

  • makes an american wish he was an englishmen!

  • great video!

  • @exiledlarky He is a great drummer, you're right.

  • This song is so...epic!

  • My brother got me into this music in the late seventies brilliant

  • bye bye dee dee

  • Greatest. Song. Ever.

  • very nice post 8 ) watching love grow

  • Heres the deal, if you dont agree please tell me why, and plz voice your opinion.

Ian Curtis was a very dark singer , i dont consider ian a song writer, i consider him a poet. If he was in new order i dont think they would of been as famous. But i believe that both bands are appreciated by two diffrent groups of people. Both GREAT and influential bands non the less.

  • @benciano Good point. It's nigh impossible to deal with suppositions, anyone can say what they think might have happened because it never did. New Order wrote some incredible songs on their own but how much of that was influenced by Ian? you can't measure it with certainty. I will say I was privileged beyond words to get to go to their last ever concert in Buenos Aires in 2006 and the power and the passion they displayed when playing Joy Division was out of this world, they seemed to come alive

  • @Iberotimuka you don't say?! I would of killed to be at that concert (=

And obviously both are beyond great bands, i just don't see the point in arguing who is better.

  • It's impossible to watch this video without getting goosebumps. Awsome preformace by an awsome band!

  • i feel the love in this song who ever plays it!

  • Nice one Hooky

  • stephen morris is a fucking drum machine

  • @exiledlarky by all means, a machine

  • @exiledlarky fucking drum machine is right

  • SUCH A MUSIC !!!!!!! Ian was there, still young, dancing, around them, and smilling to them, "ok guys, i'm not here anymore but yes the music is still here", i'm pleased to see all these "old mans" coming back we were young too, they are really great, morrissey; the cure, all are still there, and it's really good, the 80's have never egalised, by any other period, a start for all theses unforgottable musics, maybe it's because I was young too..........

  • I still rate this in my top 5 singles of all time - awesomely powerful -this live performance pisses all over the studio versions. And I'm going to see Hooky perform live on Thurs 30/09/10. Can't friggin wait!

  • is everybody having a nice time?

    this guy gay or what?

  • No he's just talented unlike you big boy

  • yeahh!!!!!! NEW ORDER !!!!!

  • a really poignant tune as it was ians last gift to us and still my fave joy division tune

great version - god rest your soul ian

  • great job of JD tune. Nice job Peter to recognize DD

  • I love this song one of my favorite NO songs

  • "the next one is for dee dee ramone, god bless his soul. and to keep ian company until i get there." thanks, hooky. now i'm in tears. fuck. fuck. fuck.

  • new order wouldnt have existed if ian hadnt of died they would have stayed joy division!!! bernards voice is not a patch on ians!!!

  • "Keep Ian company until i get there"

    (':

  • I think the brilliance of this song is keeping the lyrics really subtle and the guitars massive. trying not to lose it live and go crazy on the vox. they've got a lot tighter though.

  • happy birthday to me!

  • this song is like the transformation from joy division too new order

  • le pied !!!

  • bernard is the best

  • Stephen Morris has outlived all the top drum machines of his day.

  • Whats with the Confederate flag on his guitar?

  • Takes me back to 8th grade 1986-87 Fresno California Computech Junior High school.

  • is it just me or does Bernard always seem young?

  • @milkiorange music truly has a way of keeping us young

  • Check out Atlantic Stereo (this profile) for a cover of Joy Division's Ceremony.

  • amazing. Sorry that they won't be doing this live again. :(

  • those fucking faggots are moshing to this. inbreds.

  • @Yadoso If they were I'd agree with you but I didn't see any moshing, just jumping mainly

  • WOW... this song is playing since 1980, and is still actual, and perfect... the perfect balance between rithm and rock, guitar, bass, etc... They didn't forgot the music basis... they are definitely the best

  • Such good dynamics in a song, building and backing off beautifully.

Basic cords for a brilliant result... punk ethos with Curtis' lyrics, what a combo...

If havent yet, check out Radioheads worthy cover.

    I.C.R.I.P.

  • yes intro is awesome but sumner's voice isnt good as ian's

this is the most emotional song of joy division, with a hope,

    "never stop watchin...watchin forever..."

  • 馬英九的才藝又多一項了

足球 游泳 棒球 抽菸 繡花針 武俠小說 慢跑

蓋纜車 宣戰 觀落陰 買車票 喝生水 減肥 看報紙

    打鼓!

  • i love love love this version. amazing intro.

  • I was there! Had no idea they were going to film it. The sound was great, drums sounded so punchy with great low end. I was on the Hooky side! His bass sounds huge live in a way that can't really be captured on a recording. It was ridiculously muddy that day, though.

  • clasic band no rose tinted glasses tho

  • Probably it is the best live performance of Ceremony.

The one with Ian (1980) was badly recorded, his voice was fantastic but a bad microphone truncated his only live performance of this song.

Too bad there isn't Ian, but New Order did a great job anyway. This song is eternal.

The tribute to Dee Dee Ramone is great too.

  • I miss the shirts tucked in to the trousers :( Hehehe.

  • This song makes me want to cry, its so beautiful.

  • 總統好................

  • Hooky says something about Dee Dee Ramone? It was at the time that Dee Dee died, june 2002. But I can´t catch what he´s saying...

  • @vitoczek "this one is for dee dee ramone--god rest his soul. he can keep ian company 'til i get there."

  • @eraz0rxx thanx!

  • I agree, I am huge fan and this is a keep sake for sure.

  • WoW talk about memories im in the 80s again.

  • stephen morris is the best drummer on the planet

  • Great version, but seriously the bass player looks retarded.

  • @Wzwain peter hook is the greatest bass player on the planet ...fact

  • @Wzwain Seems to me he's having a blast playing a stunning song for other people, and if I could play like that, so would I.

  • if you dont love this song YOU HAVE SERIOUS PROBLEMS hahahahhahahahahahahah

  • Forever...watching love grow.....forever

  • R.I.P IAN CURTIS.......30 Years ago Today.

  • shut up barney and play the next track

  • ian must be proud of his song .... it will last forever !

  • is anyone having a great time ? Hell yeaaaaaaaaaaa

  • "Keep Ian company 'till I get there." I love Hooky.

  • so beautiful, lyrics are so deep

  • Great song , Great tribute.

  • 讓阿六丫知道我們家總統是多麼多才多藝丫.

    你們家總理會打鼓嗎?

    哈哈....

  • 查了一下

    這樂團中文叫做「新秩序」

    長的像馬總統的鼓手

    名字叫Stephen Morris

  • 其實是總統留美時期組的團 現在只是復出 (大誤)

  • 總統好~~~

    可悲~~~~

  • @mhqddz

    馬英九斯文又有風度,是有文化的文明人,

    不是口出惡言的野蠻人可以望其項背的,土匪知道了嗎?

  • We will never see J.D play this live again and it will never be performed live again by New Order.... This is from Hooky's mouth last night "May 2010" When he was asked, he just said NO !

  • 鼓手好似馬英九...

  • @hamnuptra Stephen Morris rocks, 馬英九? not so much

  • The president of Taiwan can play the drum so damn good

  • 總統好!!

  • my favourite song.. and i'm not a big fan of JD or NO.. but this is perfection!

  • FUCK YES

  • top das lied

  • I swear the guys look close to tears, God Bless Ian and thanks for posting asdras1

  • ian come back juste pour cette chansos

  • the song we will always sing when we get back from work...amazing rythm

  • There is something quite unique and dynamic about this song.Great to see the guys still cranking it out live in the new millennium.Just look at the crowd going off...

  • @abagail4me I agree, though I have never been able to determine why exactly. It's always been one my favorite Joy Division tunes.

  • Ian is dead, a long time ago... new order was still there not so long ago...

Cheers New Order for being what yo are.

  • What kind of bass is that?

  • wish our kid could be here. RIP Ian

  • hey ian say hello to those guys

  • Bernard Sumner is a hero!

  • wow; 28 years listening to these guys and they can still nail it. But then, it is their song.

  • Brilliant version of my favorite JD & NO track......love crystal too.

This finsbury park gig was awesome.

  • if ian curtis stills alive joy division would be greatest band ever

pink floyd, depeche mode, the cure, rem, the smiths, u2, radiohead, nine inch nails, would not be compare to them

  • I disagree, Radiohead and NIN are fucking music titans.

  • @elBOBAnme U2 do claim that Joy Division was an influence so either U2's ideas might have been better or their sound would sound less original

  • i wish Ian could be singing this on stage now... RIP.(

  • i wish ian could sing this live now... RIP

  • maximum repect

  • Peter Hook is GOD!

  • peter hook greatest bass player on the planet

  • @ITSBIGBOY - he plays it like a guitar - his playing takes the lead in so many NO songs which is F***ing awesome.

  • he is the master ,there is no doubt

  • STEVIE MORRIS = OUT THERE

  • why do I find myself wandering back to this song on youtube? Because it's so damn amazing!!! Dee Dee would have been rockin' up stairs!!

  • nice touch hooky, keep ian company till i get there !!!nice one son !!!!

  • greatest performance of all time

  • Peter Hook is a legend.

  • wow they havent changed a thing..

they way they play the way they move

they're exactly the same as with ian curtis

    its marvelous

  • @simionTheOne

    .

Except that an irreplaceable unnameable quality is gone.

    .

As Peter has said, he never played so well, with such ease and he thought it was normal. Look at the Something Else shows to see how well be played and with such ease when Ian was there.

    .

Ian's death robbed us of a great rock band, maybe the best. Timeless songs, incredible live shows -- all gone, cut down in their prime.

    .

The more I listen to JD the more I am convinced they would have bettered the Greats...

  • @Knepperify1

    nono ur absolutely right

but i ment the way they've got a spark left of energy

they didnt go out , if u know what i mean

  • Hooky's chilling shout-out for Dee Dee Ramone..who died 4 days earlier and to keep Ian company until he gets there was just great to hear.

This was a brilliant gig at Finsbury Park and this is the greatest song that New Order have ever played IMO....love it.

  • This is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard...

  • what a tune

  • miss new order, come back hooky pleeasse

  • find myself shutting my eyes and remembering my youth, what a tune.

Manchester what a place to grow up.......

  • IT SBIGBOY.... " IT IS THE BEST BAND OF IT'S TIME GENRE WISE "...without comment... NEW ORDER WILL LIVE FOREVER....just think about, whatever the f... k it's cool now a days... nothing's nearly like in my book,.. ohhh... The Killers ? or who else ? I love new order, the best vibe ever...and innovation

  • there is a lot of comment regarding ian curtis being any good or not - name another singer whose voice would fit joy division ? - NONE God bless you ian RIP

  • stil puts a chill down your spine

  • ian was good ,,but nobody can sing like bernie .they never would have been famous without him,,,bizare love triangle ,,the best vocal performance ive ever heard

  • Hooky!

  • What it would have been like to be there...

  • Comment removed

  • the greatest band in the world is new order playing joy division songs. discuss.

  • my opinion is that they would be the best band in the world if they still had ian on vocals with modern technology which has played a part in making old joy division songs sound so good at finsbury park so if ian was singin there it would have been one of the greatest performances in history thats my opinion.

  • completely agree with you man

  • i think that is a fair comment to make. However Ian IS dead so are New Order carrying the torch well for Ian??? that is the question

  • @Baddie922 docile comment

  • @Baddie922 To be brutally honest and as much as I love and admire Ian's work, I think Ian was to dark for the mainstream and Bernard has always done a great job if you ask me, I don't think New Order would have been as big as they are if Ian was the lead singer, New Order was New Order, Joy Division was Joy Division, different eras and times man.

  • @coldrockdaspot

New Order are a pop bad ... a good one yes .. but not hugely relevant in music history.

Every band currently the world over draws influence directly or indirectly from Joy division.

  • @stevieontour I just read Wiki's entry for New Order. It appears that lots of people disagree about your statement about New Order not being relevant. Seems they have been very influential to a lot of artists and bands.

  • @akula971

The fact that you look up wiki for that information highlights my point.

Ceremony was New orders best track, however that was actually a Joy Division song.

Other than Blue Monday, please tell me other New Order tracks that were "great"??

  • @stevieontour bizarre love triangle and true faith, and i prefer joy division but new order are still amazing
