what set-up is he in like what do you have him and what stuff is in his cage or tank?

He lived in a big plastic storage bin. We didn't want wire cages because he might get hurt.

We put woodshavings on one half of the bin and nothing on the other half for variety. There was the usual food bowl, wheel and water bottle. Also a log for him to climb through. There are a few toys that we switched around every now and then.

Oh and his litter box...which he used as a bed. Hope that helps!

Um...it might be a little too late if you've had her for 1.5 years. But! When she flinches, you can just try to keep on patting in the same pattern, then maybe she will get used to the patting. It's bad if you immediately withdraw your hand the second she flinches, because it gives her a bad impression. What I did with cookie was, I keep patting him till he got 'bored' with the patting and kept eating. Good luck!

How long have you had the hamster and how old is it? It's best to tame hamsters when they are young (5-8 weeks old), because that way they are still fresh.

Try patting it when it's eating, so it can get used to being pet. Make sure to take it one step at a time and don't rush the hamster =)
