i don't think it is really a joke per se, although it is pretty comical. im not sure if he puts much thought into the lyrics, or just chooses the words because of their tonal qualities or what, but i find it encompasses a certain "feel" of our era, which is what good pop music is all about. there is no punchline, just some killer music with far out vocals.
