@klimber1000 pacific nw is beautiful but too damn rainy in some parts. i went to Seattle and thought about moving there, but the rain is annoying. Colorado is a better choice for me .
It look like my comment were gone. I post them on here long time ago but now it is gone. Dang! Well, Aspen is always in my heart because I have been to Aspen before, which it is beautiful. It has been 10 years since I left Aspen (which I went to a deaf camp in Snowmass) every summer. I will never forget that.
Hey there.... Is it even possible of average income families to move to Aspen ? OR is there a cheaper alternative like towns near Aspen that are more affordable ?
@funkyflights Average income families cannot usually live in Aspen unless through employee housing. To live outside of the town is a lot cheaper but It still isn't cheap.
it is a fantastic drive over the mountains and pass.Glenwood canyon is my fav.I'm inspired to do a footage of my own when i next drive to Denver from Aspen..thanx for the clip.
It is insaine how many times i have driven this route....i live in Aspen, and I drive to denver nearly every other weekend in the winter for hockey games....
and to NorthAmericanWinter....We the people of Aspen are very laid back and friendly.!

I don't personally believe that an "average" family can afford Aspen.
It's mostly the very well to do, tourists, kiddos who live 10 to a house and work in Aspen and immigrants who do the same!

Then you, Friend are breaking the law.
At best, when the roads are dry it takes me 4.5 hours through these mountains.
On the ice it takes much longer.
You shouldn't be exceeding the speed limits or driving too fast for conditions.
tyeporter 2 years ago
@tyeporter It takes maybe 3.5 hours if you are going the exact speed limit the entire time. 4.5 on dry roads is way too long.
Whosechariot 2 years ago
The only way to do the speed limits is to be a big engined truck/car, 8cyl - etc.
And to have nobody in the car/truck with you and nothing in the back of the truck.
I drive up there with a bed full of gear for my gigs and can rarely hit the speed limits.
I'm lucky if I'm at 35 up some of those slopes.

What kind of car do you drive?
minneola24 2 years ago
I drive what Adam Sandler would call a "piece of poop car".
It's a Dodge - but I'm a Chevy guy.
I tried a Dodge for the last 18 months and now I know why they went outta business!

How far is aspen from denver ?
bsc1959 2 years ago
Depends on the weather.
This trip (major snow/ice) took 5 hours.
In good weather this year, I've been able to reach Carbondale in 4 hours and Snowmas in 4.5.

thanks tye for your help.

how cold was the temperature outside during the trip?
sebivomit 2 years ago
This particular trip?
I believe it was in the 30°F/0°C's...
It was New Year's Day - and the roads were closed the night before - snowed over pretty thick.

It skips a lot of miles, esp between Vail and Glenwood, but it still ROCKS.

LOL
Thanks.
I was running outta memory by that last leg of the trip and I wanted to get as much of Glenwood Canyon as I could.
BUT...
I'm glad you recognized it enough to miss the miles in between.
Right on!

Been there, done that, without a camcorder. :-)

Those I met were very nice.

Not if you're observed picking a flower off Aspen Mountain. Then they'll get pretty bitchy.

A Blonde walks into the Doctor's office and she pokes her eye and says, "Doc - it hurts when I do this..."
:D
tyeporter 2 years ago
Just wondering: Would you think it acceptable to tell that joke with the word "blonde" changed to "negro"?
habbadou 2 years ago
If I have to explain this joke to you - you must be a blonde.

It's already snowing pretty well up there so by next week (we have two more fronts lining up to pound us) you should have a great white backdrop.
Enjoy!
