It's so weird to see the New York photos superimposed on what must be the ultimate Toronto song. This song captures so many icy winter nights rolling out of bars, half-drunk and looking for cabs. Or looking for speakeasies to hit. Huddling in alcoves or around corners to avoid the wind and snow.
The "all night TV show" was "Chuck the Security Guard" which started airing in 1979 on CFMT Toronto (now OMNI Television), the first 24 hour station in Canada. Bruce comes from Ottawa, which on average, is colder in the winter than Moscow. But when he sings about Toronto, you've got to believe! Toronto the Good is even better when Bruce sings about it.
Yummy Song.....I lost my husband ...he passed away...and when I hear this song I think of him and miss him so much,,we cuddled on the coldest night of the year. Love the big TO
This is the quintessential TORONTO song! It needs scenes of Scarborough strip malls, the Toronto sky line at dawn, Nathan Phillips Square and the El Mocambo NOT New York City.
This was about 1978 or 1979. My husband was a grad student at University of Toronto and was out walking home -- from a bar -- with a friend. The next morning the radio announced it was the coldest night on record in Toronto! Thanks Bruce
this song reminds me of my father who died this past year... he had a shitty alcoholic life, he loved to play this song while drunk when we lived in Peterborough.
Ooh nice .....my stompin' grounds...Scarborough....and West Hill..;) ♥
