  • I HATE... HATE!!! Ontario... but this song makes me miss it (just a little).

  • great song!

  • Is this a fk'n joke? T.O. stands alone! New York, god love it but hey we are Toronto - the bull shit!

  • c'mon somebody that knows how to use a movie maker thingy has got to put up a canadian version of the BIG SMOKE a.k.a. TURKEY TOWN

  • saxaphone is just amazing !!!!

  • One of my Cockburn favorites! I did have to search for it though. But glad I was persistent!!

  • It's so weird to see the New York photos superimposed on what must be the ultimate Toronto song. This song captures so many icy winter nights rolling out of bars, half-drunk and looking for cabs. Or looking for speakeasies to hit. Huddling in alcoves or around corners to avoid the wind and snow.

  • One of my favourite ever songs of all time!!! Strangely has always reminded me of Toronto- despite never having been there! Just perfect.

  • The "all night TV show" was "Chuck the Security Guard" which started airing in 1979 on CFMT Toronto (now OMNI Television), the first 24 hour station in Canada. Bruce comes from Ottawa, which on average, is colder in the winter than Moscow. But when he sings about Toronto, you've got to believe! Toronto the Good is even better when Bruce sings about it.

  • It was written with Toronto in mind ...Scarborogh and Yonge St. but I think those are shots of NY alright

  • ditto for gilraen789...great song...New York City ?????????

  • Yummy Song.....I lost my husband ...he passed away...and when I hear this song I think of him and miss him so much,,we cuddled on the coldest night of the year. Love the big TO

  • I feel for ya. My husband's in heaven too. We are still here......to make them proud of us

  • one of the best songs ever written!!!!

  • That's Kathryn Moses on the soprano sax. Amazing!

  • grande bruce! one of my favourite friends and artists!!!!

  • I ask my students what city this song is about and they can never get it right.

  • One of my favorite songs!

  • This is the quintessential TORONTO song! It needs scenes of Scarborough strip malls, the Toronto sky line at dawn, Nathan Phillips Square and the El Mocambo NOT New York City.

  • Love this song:):)

  • Actually a very sad song.Cheers Deadbeat

  • One amazing song!! I can listen to it over and over....wish I could write songs with such passion..

  • This was about 1978 or 1979. My husband was a grad student at University of Toronto and was out walking home -- from a bar -- with a friend. The next morning the radio announced it was the coldest night on record in Toronto! Thanks Bruce

  • Great voice and a great song from another great Canadian singer!Deserves more credit!

  • Seems like this was early '80s...is that about right?

  • this song reminds me of my father who died this past year... he had a shitty alcoholic life, he loved to play this song while drunk when we lived in Peterborough.

  • excellent song on countless levels.

  • Bruce - beautiful guitar and voice and sad, haunting and yearning song...

  • The passion Bruce has in his voice in this any many of his other songs are second to none. Thanks Bruce !!!

    A fan always...
