  • this song STILL makes my freaking soul happy. this parade was GODLY when i was a kid. i would get SO EXCITED when i heard the synth voice in the beginning (i'm not a capslock person, it was just that big of a deal).

  • Happy 33rd birthday to the Walt Disney World version of my favorite nightime parade. may Hong Kong Disneyland eventually decide to unpack your crates.

  • Well Dragonrider... Looks like Main Street Electrical Parade is making a comeback to Walt Disney World, at our expensive unfortunately. It also means that I'm going to have to make a trip down there this year, for the first time in nearly 20 years! How do you feel about that?

  • I heard. It's just for the summer but it's still awesome!

  • I hope it's just for the summer. I'll be upset if they pull something funny. Will you go see the parade? I'll be there.

  • Unfortunately, no. We're not planning to come back until 2011. Hopefully they'll do it again then

  • @Dragonrider1227 the parade will be running until august 12 this year so you will miss it sadly

  • i think it's interesting how ublike Disneyland, the train in Florida's parade didn't have a whistle

  • I think I was Blue Fairy in this video... I know thats who I was in 1990... but couldnt tell in this video. They took Blue Fairy outof the new parade but Ive heard its a great parade

  • I alwyas wondered, did it get hot haveing to wear costumes with lights, especially in FL in the summer?

  • @firstpage007 it would be even Greater if Disney World re-named the 2010 version as "The Main Street Electrical Parade", sadly they've taken the cheap route & left the "Disney's Electrical Parade" name intact from it's days at DCA.

  • The parade eventually went to Disney Tokyo. I hated the parades and always rather go on the rides, especially when everyone went to see the parades. This, however, was the parade I always loved.

  • This version of the parade is short in comparison to Disneyland's. However, Disneyland added new floats through the years and Walt Disney World stuck with the original six; this still happens today when Disneyland got a new parade this year and Walt Disney World has had the same one since 2001.

  • I'm under the impression Disneyland simply needs it more. Seeing how Disneyland consists mainly of repeat local business so it constantly needs new stuff to keep that local audience coming back. Disney World on the other hand gets yearly visitors no matter what.

  • I don't know why they had to move the parade to California. Like Disney doesn't have enough money for more parade floats? It is unfortunate our kids can't enjoy this today at WDW.

  • but Spectromagic at WDW is better than this

  • I think so too. I love this, but let's not be blinded by Nostalgia. Spectromagic is so much more stunning and I get the feeling our kids today wouldn't be into this

  • Im only 14. But the younger kids probly wouldnt be into this parade.

  • I'm going to have to disagree with you on that one Dragonrider1227. Even the young kids today are awed by Electrical Parade over here. They always get mystified by it.

  • Vidmaster DCA's parade is going to get Better AND worse, goodbye Blue Fairy Hello Tinkerbell, Goodbye circus WELCOME HOME Pinochio & Dwarf Mine! Goodbye Classic music Hello Dreamlights

  • I heard about this. Don't think I like The Blue Fairy getting replaced but I like everything else I'm hearing

  • Awh this just flashed back plenty of memories of the mainstream electrical parade!

  • I love the electrical parade. but i really think they should put it back in Disneyland as the Main Street, instead of California Adventure. But they have so many diff. parades, during the year.

  • Those people clapping along gave me so much goosebumps... ;)

  • We just watched it at California Adventure and it was even BETTER than when I saw it as a kid.

  • Its just because the Disneyland parade was the original. The Disneyworld parade has quite a few more things added to it, but both are SO amazing. I miss this show dearly, I remember seeing it everytime we went to Disneyland back when it was still showing and as a reminder of the show got a few lights off of a couple of the things from the parade = )

  • its so much better at the disneylad resort park

  • I was lucky enough to see it in 1999 when it came for a very brief time to Disney World for that summer. Didn't know it was there, thought it was only at disney land in very early 90's and 80's

  • let me corrrect myself - I didn't know it was @ disney world before 1999.

  • Just as I remember seeing it many years ago here in California at Disneyland. Thanks for posting sweet memories!

  • wow, this brings back memories.

  • i still have an actual record (45) that i made my parents buy for me at one of the stores right after the parade in christmas 1980 at WDW florida. thanks for posting. aaaahhh the memories

  • Cool! What does the record have from the parade?

  • just the soundtrack of the parade.

  • Thnks for posting. I consatntly cry when i hear the music, it remindes me of when I was little :) Great memories!

  • I have a old cassette tape from when I was 6ish. (if not younger) I was so jocked when I heard they brought it back for California's Adventure but I've yet to see it.

  • Really?! That sounds so awesome! Please enlighten me more on your project. I am a super fanatic of the MSEP. I'm also interested in learning how to play the Baroque Hoedown, and have been looking for the sheet music. Might you have it, or know where I could find it?

  • my band is playing an arrangement of Magic Kingdom songs with this, mickey mouse club march, baroque hoedown, yo ho, and small world. I think it's just called magic kingdom, so look for that

  • Oh, I'd love to hear that. Where can I go to find the audio?

  • DLR started out w/ six cariier for the Blue Fairy's dress but as the years wore on the number of carriers got smaller. Funny though when the parade went to NYC they had 3 carriers.

  • This makes me cry 'cos I miss it SOOOOOO much!!!! Oh, God, I'd give anything to feel that way again.......

  • I know how you feel. Sometimes I can't help but to wonder how did Bob, Jack, and Don create something so endearing and wonderful? It's timeless. This parade will never grow old to me, and always keeps me in that happy place when I was younger.

  • Just for trivia, and LAST post, I SWEAR ;), but notice that the Blue Fairy has SIX canopy carriers. This was, I think, exclusive to WDW. I liked it better than DLR which only had TWO. If I'm wrong - someone correct me. :) Cheers - again!

  • Additionally, I know that this video was taken in Liberty Square, right before Frontierland. I remember, as a performer, I always LOVED this area, because it was the ONLY place on the whole parade route that we could feel the AIR CONDITIONING coming out of the shops! LOL!

  • That's very interesting. I always wondered what the location of this video was. Thanks for that piece of information. Now I'm not that familiar with WDW, being that I've only been there once. lol. I was curious was the parade here coming from Main St. or going towards it?

  • Well, we're talking about 17 years ago so you can forgive me if my memory's a little rusty. But I think it was coming FROM Main St.

This is dragonrider's dad by the way, I shot this thing on a huge antique video camera that's since bit the dust!

  • Yes. That would make sense because you could not hear the music off in the distance as the opening annoucement was going. It was quiet. That means it did begin there.

Oh, okay. This was a great video, by the way. Thank you for recording it for us. I literally watch it all the time.

  • Weird thing was, I kept my eye glued to the B&W eyepiece monitor and didn't actually get to see any of the color of the parade until I got home and played the tape! :(

  • Your sacrifice has not gone in vain and is greatly appreciated ;)

  • I agree with many posters about missing "old Disney." It seemed more fun back a few years ago. But, I'm prejudiced because I actually got to perform in this exact parade back in '83-'84. I've tried to like SpectroMagic, but I just don't. It's true that some of the floats from this parade went to HK AND to Paris. It's such a shame, because this was always one of Disney's BEST parades and YES, it was as much fun as you think to perform in this parade! Cheers!

  • i miss old disney :( things used to be fun and memorable, but not saying it isn't any more because we have the two years of a million dreams, but thanks for this video because it brings backs memories when I was there in 1995 that year we forgot to bring the camcorder to mk the day we saw the parade, I miss this version of the electric parade

  • Thanks so much for uploading this! MSEP really should come back to MK.

  • I remember being there in 1995 it was fun

  • Hong Kong has the floats that were in WDW and they arn't even using them at the moment they should return them to to Disney World if they arn't gonna use them I'd MUCH prefer to see this then SpectroMagic

  • Spectromagic is AWESOME!!!!!

  • Interesting. I heard that the floats were sent back to WDW for refurbishment, before beginning an engagement at Hong Kong Disneyland.

  • i was they would bring this back to WDW

  • I think you might have a rival Dragonrider1227. Someone uploaded the whole Walt Disney World Main Street Electrical Parade from 1987. It included the 15th anniversary float, and the Dumbo Circus Unit. It was pretty cool.

  • seriously? Got a link?

  • You come back from WDW and you try to describe this parade to your friends, but it's just to hard to put into words. These videos go a long way towards helping with that. Thanks!

  • I couldn't have said it better myself. :)

  • awesome parade! I've never seen this except here on YouTube!

  • Absolutely Brilliant; thank you for posting (I worked in the Main Street Electrical Parade in the 70's, at Disneyland - what GREAT memories...)

  • THANK YOU so much for sharing! I have seen vids of this parade from all over the world but never as early as this. Absolutely amazing. No other video I have seen has had the Babes in Toyland Soldiers or the Small World Unit. What a treasure!!

  • It must get unbearably hot in those costumes with all those lights on them...

  • I just wanted to say that I love hearing the opening announcement on this video. I like to watch this video just for that. I always get a kick out of it! XD I wish you had've got the whole thing, but as Pollyanna would say, I'm glad that you got what you did. ^_^

  • This is only part one. Check my gallery for pt2

  • Oh, I know! I've seen it like a million times already. lol! I was referring to the opening announcement. I wish you were able to get the opening announcement from the beginning. You're the only one I've come across who has any of the original Walt Disney World announcements for the parade. You have no idea how hard it is to find.

  • yeah, sadly my dad didn't get all of that but he stil got an awesome video

  • What a shame. If I could turn back time... *sigh*

But you are quite correct. The video still rocks! It was a blessing for you to have it and post it for all of us.

  • If I could have any job in the world, it would be to drive the snail. I don't care what jobs there are out there, NOTHING would beat driving the snail. NOTHING.

  • lol.

  • The Music iS AWESOME!!

  • For some reason, every album version skips over the bug music...I can't figure out why...

  • I meant Good oh lord this thing needs spell check

  • LOL!

  • That wouldn't have helped, it would have thought "goof" was a legitimate word. :)

  • The MSEP should NEVER have left WDW in '91 Ilove the MSEP SO much WDW kept so many of the goof floats that Disneyland scrapped. I'd love to see THIS version back on WDW property NOT a hand me down from CA

  • Goof floats?

  • I liked the drum saying Walt Disney World Presents better than The Magic Kingdom Presents, don't you?

  • It DOES sound better

  • Ah, the GREAT Main Street Electrical Parade is still a classic to me! I loved this version with it's cool vintage units! Thanks for sharing the memories!

  • Yeah. I don't mean to Debbie down on Spectromagic. I still need to go see it, and I will when I return to Walt Disney World in the future. It's just that the Main Street Electrical Parade is one of a kind. We don't want to just let it go so easily. As a matter of fact, here in California, we fight for our Main Street Electrical Parade. The people threw up an outcry for it in 1975-76 & 1983-84, and now we keep trying to put the idea in their heads to bring it back.

    The Prince has spoken!!!

  • So true! Not everyone is a fan of everything and that's probably a good thing. :-)

  • I agree! Spectromagic bores me to death. :-D

  • ah well, to each thier own. I think it's cool.

  • Forget Spectromagic. I'll take Main Street Electrical Parade over anything any day.

  • Now they need to bring it back to WDW!!

  • Not really. I like Spectromagic :D

  • Very good but call me bias but I like Disneyland's more. Dunno Why :-P I'm happy they brought it back and put it in California Adventure.

  • Wonderful! I've never seen it at Walt Disney World before, being a native of California. I too wish they had never got rid of it, in either park. Bring back the parade! Please! Main Street's so lonely without it.

  • I can't believe they got rid of this!! Awesome! Ahh, good memories.

  • It's still in California Adventure and as much as I love this, there's always room for impreoving and evolving so eventually, this would have to be removed and replaced with something more advanced.

  • Wowww I love it!!!!!!!!!

  • MY G0SH ! MEMORiESz LOVE iHT =]
