  • what is happening here? every video I've seen of KDE 4 just about, tries to imitate compiz/beryl in some way. I understand the use of desktop effects and compositing but its not the way to go when you're copying it from the best. kde 4 is going to be a success, but it should leave all the pretty stuff to beryl.

  • I'll have to disagree with you. KDE 4 is concentrating on usability, from what I've seen. Desktop compositing is the current trend towards the future of desktops. If KDE4 wants to achieve any measure of success it should learn from compiz-fusion and add whatever's actually useful from all that.

I want some window wobble, though :(

  • Sorry man, wooble is not very useful :).

Maybe it can be done with plugins?

  • cyberwizzard: Beryl/Compiz does not fully integrate with kde

  • Whats wrong with Beryl/Compiz? Except for the configuration part, both managers seem to do their job fine...

  • Can't wait for KDE4. It will be nice to see some truly integrated and useful compsiting effects.

  • will compiz/beryl be obsolete then once kde4 is out?

  • nachc2000: Compiz is just an technological preview and IMHO not a replacement for kwin!

  • nothing impresive there. Compiz is much better right now. I hope this improves in the future, though

  • KDE4 will rock ;]
