That's a left handed bass mate. Look at the longer horn. It's up, which makes it a left handed bass. He is left handed but the strings have been strung in the opposite direction. The bass string is down and the lead string is up.

Yeah, he uses a left handed bass with a right hand setup(thats how he learned to play) and then tunes it higher than normal

The standard tuning just like a normal bass guitar but one octave higher. So if you hit the 12th fret on a normal bass guitar, then that's the same you get when you play an open string on a piccolo bass! But this guy probably uses open and downtuning because he's a very advanced player.

Just make sure your bass neck can handle the change and get the relief of your neck set up and intonation reset if you go piccolo. You can screw up the neck without doing the truss rod correctly.
