I got mine a week ago after valentines day I forgot to clean it but I did now I got my second piercing and cartilage a wal-mart the about a week ago and like they gave me two little boxes that says E•A•R Piercing Kit I used it twice for both piercings it says it's for newly pierced ears am I doing right I use a qtip and cotton ball.
@SliverRose1 I prefer using my own solution, but it should be alright. Try to avoid using cotton balls, the have a tendency of loosing fluff which could potentially get caught in the new piercing
i've got my helix pierced about 2 months ago and i went back to the store to put a new piercing in it, but now it kinda hurts and when i lay down on it it hurts, but i don't think it's infected or anything, is that normal?
@Kimberley255 Until a piercing is truly and fully healed, it will hurt a bit when you change the jewelry. It is normal, just continue to look after it, and it will get better the longer you have it.
@BeautyCarswellGirl10 This makes enough to last you a long time. If you're talking about how many times a day I clean my piercings, usually about 3 or 4 times a day.
@BeautyCarswellGirl10 You clean the the piercing about 3-4 times a day. As to how many times a day I make the solution, I make what the recipe calls for, then make a new batch when it runs out.
@Caillou1231 no offense or anything my piercer told me any salt would do aslong as it doesnt have iodide in it so it won't irritate the ear.. also biology class lol <---- can you believe that i learned something in biology.. what your basically making is a hyper tonic solution that will kill bacteria same principals applied to making mouth wash its just this is diluted so it won't irritate the skin and piercing.
@jpjdo1212 And technically if you think about it, any salt that doesn't have iodide in it is sea salt. And I know the whole idea behind the solution in terms of biology. I'm going for my bachelors in Biology next year.
@jpjdo1212 Once again, any kind of salt that doesn't have iodide or iodine in it IS sea salt. Sea salt is the most natural form of salt, and therefore, any kind of salt with nothing in it is sea salt. End of discussion.
@suajung I have bought it before, but I was using it for about 3 different piercings at the same time when I made this, and making it rather than buying it yielded a larger quantity for much less than it would have been to buy it.

@10eLSe11 Is this a serious question? You need to go back to school.

@10eLSe11 a cooking cup. when they say 'cup' it doesnt mean drinking cup/glass, its a cooking cup which you can find around. x

My piercer said it was best to boil the water first and let it cool down, just because it cleans the water abit more than regular. :)

jpjdo1212 10 months ago
@jpjdo1212 According to a professional body piercer, (one of the best in Vancouver, BC) it has to be Sea Salt of some kind.
