The judge said that since this was acceptable according to Islam, then it was acceptable for him to beat and rape his wife. They did ultimately overturn it, but this makes me very uncomfortable.

Prophet Muhammad was engaged at approximately 6 or older (age wasn't documented back then) and he waited for her to mature before he married her (possible 9 or older according to some scholars). The judge said that since this was acceptable according to Islam, then it was acceptable for him to beat and rape his wife. They did ultimately overturn it, but this makes me very uncomfortable.
I don't want to see women beaten and the men getting away with it because of shariah!

The Qur'an dictates, women already married are forbidden for Muslims except those whom their right hands possess (sex slaves). It is obvious from this verse, a Muslim can have sexual relations with his slave-woman. This (along with other verses, apologetic objections, marital rape Qur'an 2:223) are discussed in detail.
By the way the English translation of the quran is deceptive

@jhingerwali The truth is, we could never come to your countries and build churches, it isn't permitted. You can't even enter Mecca if you aren't a Muslim. And the Cordoba mosque would be a slap in the face to the people who died on 9/11.
I have nothing against you personally, but Islam is trying to Islamise Europe which already has it's own culture and way of life, yet the Muslims there demand Shariah law and all sorts of concessions.

@silmalila not true. Saudi Arabia is the only country that doesn't allow churches. All other Muslim countries allow other churches, synagogues, and temples. Vatican city doesn't allow anyone other than the catholic church either. Right now, you guys are slapping us moderates in the face by not allowing us to worship 2 blocks away from ground zero. Plus it'll have a pool, gym, basketball court, interfaith conferences there just like the Jewish cultural ctr. Why is that wrong?
