They make a little sound, but not too much or too loud. I usually hear most of the sounds from my breeding geckos. The ones who are housed alone are pretty much silent.
A question though - I have a little crestie, she is about a year old and I have been trying to handle her since I got her but she isn't having any of it! Do you have any tips on making cresties less scatty and actually not minding getting handled?
@InkVintage Hmm, it really depends. Some cresteds don't like handling and will always remain scatty. Others tend to calm down once you've had them out a couple of seconds-1minute. It really depends on what the gecko wants, really.
Like my gargoyle female, she's really jumpy, but still she will eat from my hand. She just isn't fond of the whole handling thing. Some geckos will never like it. Others will tolerate it.
@kakadgk7 If you buy them from a pet store, they are usually between 30 and 60 dollars. I got mine for 50. If you order it online, they are usually over 100 bucks.
@shoryuken1237 You would have to check adds on the internet or something, the prices on animals are different from country to country. In Scandinavia they can get quite expensive compared to what they would cost in the US, for example.
@DrewsCresties Considering how he flips whenever there's a cricket og roach nearby, I'm keeping my fingers away! But yeah, he enjoys the CGD diet and fruits - but he LOVES insects..
@MyReptiles101 Hehe, yeah.. I think that's a common thing for most cresties to do. Mine does that also. It's like they're saving up their biggest poo in history so they can unleash it on my hand the few times I handle mine.
It's disgusting, but if you're prepared for it, you'll do as me - handle the gecko a short minute, and then put it back to its cage until the poo comes. :p After that, take the gecko out again, and it have probably emptied its stomach for a while. :P
Aww, he is so cute! I just got a crested gecko, but he was my brothers, so he was handled. And whenever I try to put him down or have him in my hands, he tries to jump away. Will he stop doing that the more he gets to know me?
@Mistyrose80yay That really depends on the gecko, and how you're handling him. Be calm and nice with him, and he might calm down.
But for example the gecko in the video have started to get a little more jumpy than what he was back then when this was shot. I have no idea why.
Then my female went from being extremely jumpy, to be one of the most handleable lizards I have. So yeah, be nice with him, maybe he'll calm down, maybe not.
how old is your crestie here? mine is about 4-6 months and is about the same size as yours. i was afraid mine isn't as big as he should be for his age.
I got a baby, he is maybe 2-3 months. I wonder if he's eating on his own. I caught him eating a piece of mango I had put in for him but I'm not sure he likes the cgd. How often do little ones eat? I have also offered dusted pinhead crickets twice a week. I was also offering a mixture of cgd with mushed mango, again, he's so small I'm not sure if he ate it
hey do you no anythin about breeding and makin eggs do u breed if u do do u no what would happened if i dropped an egg 2 feet in the air i was candeling the egg but i didnt have a grip and sliped out of my hand its still in good condition can any 1 help!!!!????
@Xlawlessroy209X Ouch, that doesn't sound very good. But when in doubt, wait it out, incubate it and see what happens.
Whenever you're candling eggs, which is something you shouldn't do too often, always keep your hands and the egg on a table. I just take the whole incubator-box out and candle them like that. You're not suppose to "roll" the egg around anyways, so so need to take it out of the incubator-box.
This is the most adorable video!!! I just got a crestie a few days ago. Until I saw this video, I had no idea they have such personalities! Your crestie is soooooo Amazingly Cute! I just love watching this video!!! He's such a lucky boy! Good luck with him!
@Patsi316 Aww, this comment made me smile, how nice of you. :) I have their cage right next to my computer table, and he's staring at me at the moment, haha. He's gonna be a father in 2011, so babyvideos are coming. :)
Some will say yes, others no. I personally believe that the more variation an animal have in its diet, the more healthy it is. Crickets, mealworms and roaches 1-2 times a week, and this Crested Gecko Diet offered every day is what I do. I also sometimes add a self-made fruitmix so that they'll get some real vitamins from fresh fruit as well. But you gotta remember calcium and vitamins.
Your gecko is so fucking adorable! Omg that's so cute ^^ He is so tame aswell, normally cresties are quite timid and jumpy. Great jo on looking after him =)
hey how do you get your gecko to eat so well? mine only eats when i hand feed him or from a spoon, and even then he eats only abount 3/4 of a spoon full. please help
@Aaron1211 Hmm, interesting, I haven't really done anything to make them eat well.. :P Both my gargoyle and both of my crested geckos eat a lot.
The male in my video actually had a 2-3 weeks where he almost ate nothing for some reason, and I just went more and more pushy with feeding him, and suddenly he was back on eating a lot again. So sorry, but I don't really have any tips to give you there, some geckos will eat a lot, some will eat less at a time (but maybe more often?)
hey i got a question can you hold a crested gecko its whole life( baby to adult) in a 18in by 18in by 24in tall- terrarium... thanks in advance.. please reply on my channel
your gecko is soooo calm, i just got mine like a week ago and i tried to pick him up just yesterday and hes pretty spazzy. Comparing my spazzy gecko to your very calm gecko do you think its because i just got him and hes not used to me? over time will he be calm like yours? and one more question. i noticed he shedded the other day, and i see that he left tiny pieces of sheds on the top of his toes on one leg. What should i do? I do not want him having cut circulation on his toes.
This guy has actually been this calm since the first day I got him. I got him from a very good breeder who spends a lot of time to get them hand-tame before he sell them. But, some geckos will always be more flighty than others, you just gotta work them. :)
To get off old shed, you can put him in a box with a lid on with very moisted toiletpaper in the bottom, and let him sit there for 15-20 minutes, remember to keep an eye on him. After that, you can carefully try to peel it off with a q-tip.
haha, yeah, I think I bought 2 packages of it around start of August.. I have 3 geckos who eats it + my doormice. And I'm not even half-way on the first pack. o_O Good stuff! Sure saves a lot of money on that, rather than feeding them on babyfood.

@TRIXSK8KEEL Yeah, in theory you can, but the bigger space, the better. The measurements you mentioned are the minimum for a crested.
They are highly active animals during night, so if you give them a big area to live in, they will use it.
