  • Can someone answer me if they know, thx. If I want to mainly use 1 monitor for everything, but leave another small monitor on the side to check my CPU/GPU temps and CPU usage and stuff, how do I switch the mouse between monitors? Like when I'm playing games, how do I move the mouse to the other monitor to click on stuff?

  • @justgetmeaname you figure this out yet? if u've set the monitors up correctly, just push the mouse off the screen and it'll appear on the 2nd monitor. make sure in display properties you arrange the monitor icons (can click and drag monitor icon 1 & 2 around) so that they work the way you want. ie if monitor 2 is on the left of ur main monitor you wanna mouse that way to get to it, or if mon 2 is on the right side, obviously wanna go that way. Can also arrange monitors above & below each other.

  • @justgetmeaname when i said push your 'mouse' off the side of the screen, I meant the *cursor* or pointer. also, should be able to drag your gadgets or whatever icons and folders etc you want onto your extended desktop on the 2nd monitor.

  • @Aeonian199 Thanks. But can I make it so that one monitor is the "main"? So only that monitor is used in full-screen programs? If so, how do I swtich my cursor between the 2 monitors when 1 is in a full-screen program? It's because I plan to have a really low-res "secondary" monitor, in hopes that it will affect my main monitor the least.

  • This is brilliant...you can have one monitor for each eye.

  • @littleather I kind of want 3 or 4 monitors now, I guess I will need more eyes! Seriously though, the 2nd monitor can be useful for things like leaving a video or Netflix running on it, while you do other things, or leaving things like your email or chat window there. It can really improve work flow with serious work as well. If one has multiple windows open, can throw whatever you need there, a spreadsheet, etc. w/ Win 7 having windows snap to side, can have 4 readable windows on the 2 monitors

  • @Aeonian199 hehhe -ya I agree 2 monitors can be productive - ie cross referencing one screen on the other.

  • @kv7759 Hey bud, somewhere in your display properties (perhaps advanced) , or right clicking on the images of the monitors in the display properties - somewhere there, *instead* of "duplicate this display" , you want to EXTEND this display/monitor. Think it says extend, I don't have my dual monitor setup going at the moment to double check this. Hope that helps. gl.

  • @guthixfrog cheers, I keep telling people that buying these apple tvs and google tvs and slingboxes etc, are silly, when you can buy an hdmi cord or hdmi to dvi cord and just plug your computer right into the tv, just these companies trying to get more money out of us :D... nice monitors you got btw, I want some of those 27" ones.

  • the stert ber. aka the start bar

  • @jtgober87 lmao, accent I guess.

  • @Aeonian199 a few of my friends from up north say it the same way haha

  • @jtgober87 haha wouldnt have realized it, but ur right, when i listened to it today.

  • @guthixfrog one side of screen to other with mousing? yes I find that difficult sometimes... maybe we need 2 mouses at once? lmao. get used to the keyboard shortcuts for moving windows between monitors.. much faster and less fiddly once ur used to it. gl.

  • Is there a problem with the windows 7 screensaver. it only displays pics on one side. do you know by any chance how to fix that so it can scroll accross the two screens.

  • @THEWATCHERISLOOKING yeah, took me a while to see this, hmm.... the screensavers that came with Win 7 actually go across both monitors (pretty cool) the polar iceclock star trek one.. (whatever it's called) .. duplicated itself on both displays for me without much effort... I think I had the setting in windows display settings as, extend this monitor... honestly, I'm not sure of your issue, more details? which screensaver r u using?

  • @Aeonian199 Its when the screen saver comes up to idle. and for some reason it dosent want to scroll accross both screens using my own pictures

  • @THEWATCHERISLOOKING yeah ok.. that's probably normal for the screensaver - i know in windows 7 when i take a folder of images and select slide show it does the same thing - just shows them on monitor 1... perhaps there is some special screensaver out there somewhere that you could get , that would show the images on both monitors....

  • ok guys, so i mistakenly clicked on dual screen on my brothers pc and he has only one monitor, i can't see the other half of the pc, even when right clicking. how do i stop that?

  • @khetab420hasam try going into display settings (from control panel) and change it from 2 to 1 monitors there. let me know if you need me to be more specific.

  • @Aeonian199 haha my problem is, that i can only see the blank half of the screen, the other half is just in the space i can't see, even when the pc starts, i can't see the accounts to click on them so i can get in....only thing i can do is use safemod, i recently even tried to update my pc to win7, I can't get in, only safemod. can't believe a simple stupid mistake is giving me this big of a headache.

  • @khetab420hasam not sure if you resolved this yet, it's a tough one.. 1st off, I hope there's not an actual mechanical problem with your monitor.. that can do strange stuff, and the monitor would be 'garbage', unless you know how to fix them, or it's under warranty (good luck with that). But, if its not a hardware problem... the monitor settings themselves (a lot of them have a menu button) you may have your screen moved to the left or right or up and down (horizontal and vertical control like

  • @khetab420hasam horizontal and vertical just like the menu adjustments on old tvs and CRT (cathode ray tube) monitors. so.. even knowing this you may not be able to read the monitors built-in menu.. gotta try to find what your menu is like and search on the net, or experiment with the buttons on the monitor. (obviously many monitors vary in how the menu is works) -- ok.. so now I see your comment about safemode? you view the screen properly then? try looking up windows shortcuts.. generally tab

  • @khetab420hasam and enter and arrow keys (its totally doable to use a computer with no mouse) --- so if this is the issue, then fiddle with that on the log in screen.. if you get in your account, try to navigate again to display settings if necessary.. with windows 7 you could snap the display settings window to the side of the monitor you can view, might help as well (using windows key + left or right arrow) ................ if none of this works... I would drop a nuke on it and call it day lol

  • @khetab420hasam and a 4th reply now.. mistakenly clicked dual screen? you need to get into display settings and change it back.. that sounds like it for sure.

  • @guthixfrog thanks for that btw, I forgot, I too have the extra hdmi port on the graphics card - I'm just not using it, because the nice 21" i had broke down before even a years use, and my secondary is a crappier small monitor that has to use VGA. Cheers.

  • @guthixfrog sounds pretty sick man - now you got me wanting another big monitor, ha! Yeah, would love to see a pic, have fun.

  • @guthixfrog one more comment, you probably can hook up the 2nd HDTV with VGA, you just wouldn't be taking advantage of it's best video quality.

  • @guthixfrog added a link to a picture of the usb to vga monitor adapter at the bottom of the description now :) should have thought of that in first place. let me know how you fare.

  • @guthixfrog final consideration, is i do use a 42 inch HDTV hooked up at the moment, but it can be difficult to view some things in high quality (downloaded movies, some nice 1080p videos on youtube, netflix all view nicely) - but often its hard to find the perfect resolution for your desktop, and just general reading of text on the internet. The tech will probably get their sooner then later.

  • @guthixfrog I think the best solution in your case (specifically for two HDTVs) - would be to install a second graphics card - 3rd option is to buy a usb to vga monitor adapter (search that term in google images) .I think you can run many usb to vga adapters, but they are nowhere near HD quality, I've heard sometimes they don't work 100%. There may be some other method to hook up 2 HDTVs but I'm not sure.

  • @guthixfrog greetings, as far as i know a new desktop computer these days will come with a decent graphics card that will usually allow two hookups - one with a hdmi cord that goes into dvi (see my other short video here watch?v=384nepkKtPw - the HDMI/DVI cord is white) - the second monitor at the time was plugged into the VGA port (blue plug) - which is lesser quality and not giving you the nice 1080p viewing that HDTVs can do.

  • great video but solved my problem :L but one thing my tv is on the left and my pc on the right and i want my pc as main display so i have to drag programs off to the right even though the tv is on the left. is there anyway or changing this so i drag things to the left on pc and drag to the right on tv so its more realistic? thanks

  • @J0n3eR4M yes, I would try this;; go to display settings and click and move the actual pictures of the monitors in display settings (those stylistic representations of the monitors there, that say 1 and 2) - rearrange them so it better reflects how you are using your setup and you should be able to mouse the way you wanted. Please leave feedback here if that makes sense or worked for ya. Cheers. I thought about making a quick video to show this, but not having the time at the moment.

  • @Aeonian199 aha thanks alot mate, so obvious i should have thought of this earlier.... yeh its fine now thanks :)

  • @J0n3eR4M yeah, right on, always seems obvious after you know it.. but stuff like that happens a lot with computers, annoys me sometimes.. :P

  • Awesome video man! I just bought a monitor off of Craiglist for cheap! But it is a 17inch. The one that I currently have is a 19inch. Will they work together? Am also getting a XFX 5670 1GB graphics card soon

  • @MarcosFabianTv I believe that it will work, It doesn't have to be the same size or model. The graphics card doesn't need to be super powerful either, if it's only 2 monitors.

  • @ihfc101 Thanks for your reply man, very helpful. How about card memory? Will there be a difference between card memory? 512MB vs 1GB for example.

  • @MarcosFabianTv I'd suggest that you'd go with the 1gb card, since your channel seems to be geared toward gaming. The 1gb will help greatly with your dual monitors, especially with HD video and hardcore gaming. (Battlefield Bad Company 2 ftw)

  • @ihfc101 Haha am not going to be gaming much, since I got a really crappy CPU. Heck, I don't even want to mention what CPU I have. xD

Thanks so much for your time man! And I will be getting a XFX 5670 1GB soon!

  • @MarcosFabianTv I see ihfc101 already answered you, but yes, I run a 42" HDTV now and a small 17" in tandem no problems, (I had a 21" that went kaput during a hail storm) -- looking into having a 3rd run, but only 2 will run off the current graphics card.

  • @MarcosFabianTv Oh, by the way, I'm curious how much the 17 incher from Craig's List cost ya?

  • @Aeonian199 Haha it cost me 15 bucks man!

  • @MarcosFabianTv Nice, that's a pretty sweet deal! ;-)

  • @Aeonian199 Heck yeah! I just ordered the 5670 on Newegg! Am so happy man

  • hi can u do dis in laptops

  • @Naruto1ownsSasuke Yes you can. I added some links to the description for you, on how to set it up; good luck.

  • twice the porn? lol

  • @FlareDemonReborn heh, good point, in your case maybe twice the FPS! :D Actually now I have a HDTV as monitor, so there ya have it.

  • @Aeonian199 that cool what you need to check is the aspect ratio that resolution have maybe is on lower ratio that should be using

  • @Necsha thanks for the tip... will check it out.

  • nice set but you need to adjust the resolution on the monitor of the left that option is on diplay option

  • bad hair day.. yikes
