Yes. It is a very strong song this year for the UK. Ireland will give it 10 I reckon - it would be 12 if every Lithuanian in Ireland didn't vote for themself . Btw law and opinion there is still a big gap apart to cross and so far I don't think I've crossed it. I only stated what for me is more relevant in ESC and after so many years going downside with "stage show" then I rather see a circus where clowns are more professional. In the ESC such thing could be part of it or should I say part of the song performance but NOT the main focus. SONG contest mainly .. the rest can be there but not be OVER it and make the entry sound good and not ridiculous.

The ESC has become all about entertainment... no matter in what form. And as long as an entry is entertaining and unforgettable, it'll get high marks overall. All Jade has to do is make a very positive impression on the peoples on Europe after only one performance (as she's a Big 4 entrant). If she can do that, she'll get Top 10.

Whether or not this requires a good stage show depends on the quality of her song and her vocal performance on that specific performance. Only time will tell.

Chiara has a better pipe (or at least her song allows her to shows it off better), but Jade's got the better song. The two will clash and fight each other for this year's Ballad Points both with viewers and juries. The juries might award both high marks, but the televoters will probably favor one over the other. My favourite this year ... I am afraid it will not win as the ESC has "decided" to turn itself into an MTV award show/gay club cenario where all the songs must bring down the house ... Almost no one knows how to appreciate something slow and beautiful these days at the ESC. Anyway good luck Jade and big hurray for the UK. But during the 90s I felt the songs had a more grown up vibe and were more seriously treated regarless being a ballad or a uptempo song. The contest has changed. It might still retain its original name, but its focus has shifted. If you want a contest where the only thing that matters is the song and the singing, argue that the ESC should become a radio-only contest. Since it is not, focus will be placed on things other than the singing. Even back when the contest was born, things other than the song mattered (just less than they matter today). Nobody wants a 9 hour contest where everyone is stationary and there's no stage show.

It evolved into a more televised entertainment show. Yet and this is where I'm trying to get is that the show off (and I repeat "show off" and not "show") has surpassed the importance of having there a song to be heard. My opinion is that the need to impress a whole continent has turned its exaggarated tole and has made the ESC sound less credible musicallywise. It's easy to make a catchy silly song put a dance sexy routine in it and impress with light and special effects but so what when the song is no good. That is what I have been feeling about 90% of the ESC entries since 1999 onwards honestly. You want to give a big show so deliever a GREAT song and be serious abour it (e.g UK 2009 or Iceland 2008)
