Hi I have a question for you.. My next painting for class is to take a silver reflective pitcher and sit it on a patterned background to the pitcher picks up the pattern. Augh.. it will be my first time working with oil! How the heck do I do that? (instructor refuses to give instruction on this....)
Flake white, also known as lead white is toxic yes. Although You would have to pretty much digest it over a period of time for the toxicity to take effect.
I use barrier cream on my hands just for safe measure when using flake white.
They say Caravaggio died from lead paint, but I believe his other illnesess played a part.
Only lead/flake white is really toxic, stay away from zinc cause it will crack, but worry not, for no painting if used with basic care will be as toxic as McDonald`s food.
no i don't believe titanium white is toxic. But zinc white is the one you should watch out for. Don't use it often but when you do use it don't touch it with your fingers because it contains led.
wow this guy has completely lost it. lmao

Titanium white and zinc white are non-toxic. It is flake white which you're thinking of with the high lead content.
