Flesh & Blood---- This song was written back then, however again TOTALLY APPIES TO WHAT IS GOING ON TODAY. The words have such a strong meaning, and yet also so very true. Thank you Shooting Star for all the classic rock you have put so gracefully into words, yet still rock. Shane Michaels is so AWESOME.
Remember when these guys were in Jersey early in the 80's I had a ticket to go but had a 103 fever that night.. I regretted missing my only chance to see them. I love the sound . I had 3 albums on cassette. My darn players over the years ate them up. All I have is a Best Of CD. LIsten all the time during workouts.
What a great band with two great voices and the violin.
I Heard this band on the radio in 1980 while working at The Levi Store distribution warehouse and saw them at the The Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis, glad I did one of the best bands i have seen. This song Flesh and Blood has true meanings to me to this day
They brought the Indianapolis music seen to new heights nearly 30 years ago ... went nation wide to a degree ... now, just across the boarder in IL , I can't get them player on our (?) local classic rock station ... sad ... too much corporate manipulation everywhere you turn. Be advised ~~
Love this song too death ! Back in the day . This song was the ultimate guy song . Love the words. Oh Oh so true.......... Thank you guys for all the great music ! . God bless & Rock on ..........
@ChuckLetson ...my 8y/o dau just started playing violin and was blown away when she saw/heard this,...in her own word "daddy, this rock band has a violin....thats SO cool!"
they had 2 singers & a violin player and it worked!!! i think i have multiple copies of the vuinyl HANG ON FOR YOUR LIFE and the 'touch me tonight" went OOP asap, and i found copies in the cut oput section for cheap, got me a few, and now ebay sells them for much money!!!
I was one of the priviledged few who discovered the band from their first album and stuck with them for many a year afterwards, sharing them with everyone I knew. (When I worked for Best Buy, I sold probably 20+ copies of Best of Vol 1 on CD... easily. Such an incredible collection of tunes, that one.)
To this day "Flesh and Blood" sends shivers up & down my spine. Sooooo true, and such powerful lyrics. Amazing band, quite sad that they never had the fame they deserved.
Great band!! During my band days, I had the pleasure of spending time on the road as an opener for Shooting Star on several show. When they came to Cincinnati at Bogart's or The Blue Note, Van, Rod, and Keith, along with Brad (road manager) would stay at my house. Our band MARA was highly influenced by Shooting Star, and we owed much of our success and loyal following to them. 'Till the day I die, I will always hold a special memory for these guys.
I discovered this band back in '79 with the "Hang on for your life" album... actually the tape but no matter... hehe. I think i wore that tape out... lol.
Wish there was a studio posting of this song... don't get me wrong I love live music but I can't hear this one very well... thanks anyway for the posting :).
GREAT band!!! I remember WNEW-FM in NYC used to play them a good amount 'back in the day'!!! Was just cranking the 'Hang On To Your Life' CD today while on my morning bagel jaunt... WHAT A ROCK MASTERPIECE!!!
Wow ..memories come flooding back .they played a bill in 81' with Triumph, Ozzy's first tour with Randy rhoads and Shooting Star opened the afternoon party. These college kids came out and kicked our asses. I rember people looking around with be grins "saying who are these guys" It was River Flat jam along the Mississippi Rive in minneapolis, MN
Wow. I saw you guys play at the Chicago Ampitheatre in 1981. A bunch of bands were playing that night, but I was there to see a local band called Survivor. I didn't know about your music at the time. In the cloudiness of my buzz I remember your set. It was great and the crowd thought it was great. I was 14 and never imagined that someone jamming on a violin would be so cool. Thanks for posting, the music and the flashback. P.S. I love this song.
Thanks, guys! I was looking for this one day before yesterday. Got the LP out and sat it next to the computer for reference/reminder, then here you go.
Excellent live sound!!!!!!

A truly great tune. I listened to this over and over again as a college student. Great song to listen to before a final exam.
