I'm currently reading your book, it's amazing. I decided to try Join-Up with our problem mare, she was reluctent but almost touched my back. I was so estatic, now I know what you mean by the feeling you got. After that she would follow me, not completely but. I live in Alaska with my three horses. I try to avoid blanketing them, but when it's -65, you can't help but do so. Your book is an inspiration to me to become closer to them, I have studied their language, but never used it. Thank you!
@peppermollyrusty oh its a book for kids to read! it will educate them abt the proper way to treat horses, from a young age too! what lucky kids who get to read this
Great book. If we open our hearts, this book is the blue print for improving the life our our horses and developing that strong bond and relationship with them.
Beautiful Video! This video really captures the spirit of the writings in the book! Joe, you are a marvelous storyteller in words, song, and imagery. Our BEST to you always!
This book could be called 'soul of a human'....it truly touches your soul! Absolutely the best book I have read that helps you understand what a horse needs. Remember.....are you taking care of your horse a certain way because it is what you like, or what your horse likes. This is a Must Read for Everyone, if they have a horse or not.
I have been involved with horses for 9 years. The last 6 in horse rescue.I recieved your book for Xmas and was ammazed that there is someone who thinks like me when it comes to equines. Your book is like reading my own story . fron the special bonding moments to the ignorance of the traditional horse owner. All of my 10 horses are barefoot and live in a herd on my 10 acer yard with creek and dam with lots of trees open sheds. They also hate rugs so they get the choice if they want one on....lol
Joe, fabulous book!! I'm a horse newbie, but bitten hard. My horse is barefoot, pasture kept. I'm looking at going bitless. Have a take on treeless as well?
Hi Rdoactv. I have been using Bob Marshall treeless saddles on my horses for past 5 years and will NEVER go back to treed. They def show they like it so much better. Normally now I ride bareback, but for our long trailrides at parks, we use the treeless. HIGHLY recommend. WIll see a difference in your horses' attitude and physical comfort, along with bonus of added ability and quickness at reading your horse's body movement and vice-versa due to the less bulk and rigidity. :)
Many thanks IPG - and all of you! It makes it fun to wake up in the morning and see that our dream of making a positive difference is in fact a reality. Kathleen and I appreciate you all so much. The book just went into its second printing less than three months after publication. - Joe
I had heard the book was just another like the rest of the fall in love with horses type books, but I think I will read it now, everyone's comments are interesting.
Here is the comment I added to the You Tube video...

Nice,
May I add that the book passionately helps you understand how to put the love into your horse's life and remove all things we humans have added that get in the way of being a natural horse.
Capturing essence through alluring images...this video is vintage Camp.
I just finished my second go of Soul of the Horse. Joe Camp's passion for both horse and human pours from his heart. His ability to weave a captivatingly beautiful fictional story, together with his self-effacing personal experience is refreshing and delightful. DeeDee Kelly, Michigan
Joe, you never cease to amaze me. This video is hauntingly beautiful and conveys such intense emotion in less than a minute and a half. I will be posting this wherever I can.

I absolutely loved your book Joe! I'm so glad that you keep your horses just like I do, out 24/7, natural trim and almost always without blankets.

Absolutely wonderful read. Joe I feel like I am sitting on your front porch listening to you talk about horses when I read it.
I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to understand horses better. I have been suggesting it to many of my barefoot horse customers.
