  • The US has among the best systems in the world for protecting children from abuse and neglect. We have family courts, child protective services and mandatory reporting by teachers, coaches, etc. This treaty, if ratified, would become the supreme law of the land and would undermine the rights of American parents to direct the upbringing of their children. Those rights would trampled by UN rules and magistrates. We don't need foreigners determining what is appropriate in America.

  • Returning home from Iraq to my surprise I find that my wife had slept with over 20 men and made videos of these encounters. She hid or depleted over $500,000.00 I earned during my sacrifice to better my family. The courts then award her the home and everything in it forcing me to the street. The courts then award her custody of our son who wants to live with me. Now homeless, on disability, I hunger do to extreme amount of child support due. My crime? Surviving Iraq!

If you read closer you will see that I never said I made that money while in the military. I was already a disabled vet in Iraq as a contractor. I then worked in Iraq 6 years at over 100 k per year. I had already made my sacrifices for country while in the military and if you read closer you will see that this time I did it for family. So thanks for calling me a liar.

  • @pastorart1974 So just in case you did not understand and I need to clarify it just a bit better, I became disabled through service connected injuries incurred during the service to my country while enlisted in the military. Once I was honorably discharged and evaluated as disabled, though not at 100%. The opportunity to work in Iraq and to put some of that military training to good use presented itself. So I once again bit the bullet 3 times for my family and made over a half a mil.

  • @pastorart1974 Anyway, I never received that money even though I made it. And yes I was shot three more times while there and saw a lot of good guys fall. When I got home my wife had moved all the money out of our account and the courts then helped her still the rest by awarding her the home and all that she had in her possession. Seeing how I had nothing in my possession I received nothing. My total loss was $777,043.43. And yes, I am homeless, but not a liar. Want the dvd of my case???

  • @pastorart1974 Wife was awarded our home that I payed off as family courts said they could not award me custody of my son because he needed to live in a home. The court then nominated me a visitor and forces me to pay $1,188.00 in child support based on what I am no longer able to make. So instead of me just being just a homeless Disabled American Vet, this act by our just courts turned me into a beggar. I am rated 70% disabled from the military, not for the injuries while in Iraq as a civilian.

I cannot work and the military will not cover me for the new injuries sustained for the last 6 years in Iraq, this puts me in a bad situation. can't work, have to pay high child support for a son that wants to live with me, to a bitch that took everything from me and has possibly 3 homes now. while I am on the street.

The courts fraud and my attorney's neglect and lies. I have all of it on a very easy to follow DVD. I can prove every last word.

  • This is political propaganda at its worst! If this idea gets signed into law our children will be in more danger than ever! Cops will be powerless to stop child abuse if this idea becomes a Constitutional Amendment. As an American I believe this amendment proposal is just a bad idea. A lot of people seem to confuse parental rights with parental responsibilities. It's bullshit that animals have more right in this country than our own children.

  • @GenX6887 The cops do not check each child into bed at night. It is the neighbors and friends and relatives that need to stop children from being abused. Not the cops. At what point are we going to stand up and take responsability ourselves for what goes on around us?   • I have 2 adopted children, both came from abusive Christian homes who were forced to go to churches that the adults get up and act like 4 year olds speaking in tongues, cry, pray and hop around like children throwing tantrums. It's taken YEARS for them to finally learn how to behave like normal 8 and 9 year olds. The damage that some Christian churches do is immeasurable and it's about time that legislation is passed that would protect children from such abusive behavior.

  • @ColonPal What you need to understand is there is always someone who thinks what someone else is doing is "nuts". There are those that would say any church is abuse, as there are those who would say no church is abuse. At what point is it the gov't's place to tell a parent what they may teach a child to believe?It is those who are abused to where their physical well being is in danger that we need to watch out for. It is the parents job to worry about their soul.

We can draw the line very easily by saying that when parents teach their children LIES or things that could cause HARM either emotionally or physically, is when someone with higher authority needs to protect the children. For example: parent teaches child that being homosexual is 'wrong' according to church. Child feels shame and commits suicide 6 mo. later. Parent should be charged with murder in the first.

  • If you want to know EXACTLY what rights are listed in the Constitution Read Amendment #9. "The enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."

    If you seek a full list of those rights retained by the people refer to the Constitution. I list only those rights and specific portions of other rights that the government has the authority in which to involve themselves..

    Anywhere it proves that Congress failed to obtain the "Authority" of the people within their district, those laws, programs, etc. are not legally enforceable.

    Unfortunately, too few citizens (almost no lawyers) of the States that are part of this Union do not know this.

However, we are quickly approaching an attitude in this country that NO parent is intelligent enough or capable of making good judgements for their children.   • We have already lost parental rights to an astonishing degree. When a daughter of 13 can have an abortion without parental consent OR knowledge, the government has gone to far. ANY OTHER medical treatment requires parental consent, but abortions dont.

    Crime is on the rise; but corporal punishment is declining. Most schools don't use it. I don't think there's a correlation, myself.

  • I do agree that spanking a child because of one's own inability to control one's emotions or impulses is wrong and counter-productive. I do not, however, believe that corporal punishment administered in a clear, calm, patient manner is at all wrong.

    Also, Singapore has a very low crime rate and a culture that is very in favor of spanking. That does not imply that one caused the other, however, it does indicate that spanking and well behaved children and adults can coexist.

  • @Ziiiv -- Spanking children only teaches them that violence is ok if you're angry enough. Any parent who has to hit his child to get them to change behavior is automatically a bad parent. If you have to HIT your child to get his attention, you've likely already failed as a parent.

    A good parent can make his child listen and obey without touching them. That is where the real parenting skill comes in.

    Children can and do cross the line in ways that are in no way the parents' fault. Just because you tell them not to lie and show them how not to lie doesn't mean they won't lie anyway. When and if that happens a stern talking to is not enough.

  • @Ziiiv -- Then I guess you have problem kids who are obviously out of control already. Taking away privileges works wonders when getting them to comply with reason. I believe that children who lie are almost always doing so because they learned it in their home or didn't have consistent discipline.

    Parenting must be vigilant for best results -- kids won't lie if they know doing so will cause them to lose privileges.

    Most *actual* constitutional rights (as opposed to imaginary ones) are assumed to be conferred at adulthood.

  • The reason the relationships are different is because the difference between employee and employer is less. The employee is an adult, or at least in his/her late teens - they are at a more mature stage in their development, and thus, their interactions will be different in character.

  • corporations have the 14th amendment rights yet the parents dont? something has to be done as the state is allowed to let the kids run while for the money yet the suffer from projection in the acusations of the parents who they speak ill of to the kids.
