Old Syfy is so awesome and hilarious! My video begins with actual footage of a real U.F.O. My videos are not for the mainstream public! Normal folks "need not apply!" All of you A.B. Normal, strange weirdos will feel right at home here! Only a few individuals have deciphered the real meaning and warning hidden in the subliminal message. The Glirkazoids want you to trust them. They want you to come to accept them! They want to serve mankind!
Great list, though Terminator 2, Aliens, and Planet of the Apes need to be on this list... then again, it is difficult to make a top 10 list with so many great movies. I also think that Star Wars should have been Number 1, but I guess that would've been too easy. 2001 is just as deserving.
Glad to see you got #1 & 2 right. Star Wars, to me, seems to belong in a different genre--more of a "space opera" than real sci fi. Movies like Robocop, Predator, Terminator, seem more like they are primarily in the Action genre, with a little sci fi thrown in. Sorry folks, the Matrix sucked. 2001 is the greatest movie ever made--profound and mind-blowing. Some people are just too used to shallow action flicks to appreciate it.
@anonimatox123 Personally I think "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (original version) and "Starman" should be in the mix. I am also partial to "Enemy Mine" and "Soldier."
We all have different ideas about what is best, and perhaps that is the crime you are talking about.
I would say that there are lots of the best films missing from this list. Where's The Last Starfighter? Were's 2001: a space odyssey? Where is The Thing (1982) And what about Them? Where's Planet of the apes? Where's Empire strikes back? Wheres Return of the Jedi? Where's the voyage home ? where's The Wrath of Khan? Where's District 9? Where's Tron (1982)? And, most importantly, where's Close Encounter's of the third kind?! Honestly, I don't think people should make top tens. So much to choose
@ulaghchi I made an error. Please excuse me. And about the 12 movie thing, I made that list to prove that 10 just isn't enough, so it was intentional that I mentioned more than ten, because the point was that science fiction is such a great genre that you need more than a top ten to make a list of the finest science fiction.
Classics like Invasions of the Body Snatchers, The Invisible Man, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Forbidden Planet, The Thing, Metropolis, Frankenstein, and The Bide of Frankenstein should never be forgotten.
terminator, the matrix, alien, Inception, 12 monkeys. Those all are in my top five. Back to the future and star wars are good as well, and I'd certainly have to agree they are in the top 10. But that's just me.
hej, can please someone help me find a movie..it's a really old one, but I don't know the names of the cast, the year of the movie or the tittle of it. I just know it was always on a german programme "kabel 1" and I used to watch it when I was little...it's about a girl (I remember she looked like geena davis, but I don't know if this was her), who cuts her hair very short like boys, and I remember a scene when she wants to throw a stone to a duck and the stone starts talking..sci fi movie

@Lele24781 those arent scifi movies... alien is a horror movie, jp a fantasy movie and terminator an action movie. Armagaddeon a apocaliptic movie. SCIFI Genre is different from what you wrote!
@tinotrivino All of those are Science-fiction. There are a great amount of subgenres to sci-fi(i.e. Cyberpunk, Hard-Science, etc...), they just have different elements to drive their story and to keep their films fresh so that there isn't just copy-cats plaguing the film world.
The missing movie in the top 10 would be "Silent Running", starring Bruce Durn. The way the people (the "elected" government) are treating the planet, this movie is a preview of the future.
@wardy2294 I disagree on 'Revenge Of The Sith', because all the continuity is wrong in relation to the originals and the acting is very wooden.I have the same opinion about 'The Phantom Menace' and 'Attack Of The Clones' too.
Moon was quite good but I whouldn't put in the top ten, I found it quite boring and depressing.
And 'The Matrix' was VERY cheesey and Lawrence Fishburn's acting was quite wooden too.
But I COMPLETELY agree with you on `Alien' and `Aliens'!
what about logan's run? o,O I dont think anyone remembers that one, I mean after all if your willing to go back to 1927 with Lang. Lets not forget everything i between.
