I love the cutscenes from these guys, how its a first-person view and it actually feels like your being scrutinized or sneered at sometimes. This looks like a good game... can I just play it or will I be as confused as a puppy?
I think I mention this in my LP but I really liked the minigun-toting power armor troopers in Dune 2. To this day, I'm still disappointed that they didn't make in game reappearances. I remember spazzing upon seeing those soldiers with miniguns waiting in salute in the opening cutscene, the exact same way when I saw a trooper in power armor in the end cutscene of Dune 2k! Am I the only one who miss those heavy troopers?
I always liked the ability in Dune 2000 to crush those pesky little infantry-types with my harvesters and tanks. Glad to see that is still possible...
@antowright it most defintely is. It's one of the classics of Science Fiction, and a really interesting read. The following books in the series are still somewhat interesting, but far from the power of the first one...
You're not feeling well? Well, I hope it's nothing serious. Here's to hoping you feel better soon. =)
More on-topic with the video: can the worms pop up anywhere or are they limited to certain terrain? On which terrain are you allowed to build? Are you concerned that whatever ailment you need painkillers for will cause the Baron to believe you are no longer useful?
@Notthross Sandworms are, fittingly enough, limited to sand. In Dune's case, that's a considerable portion of the map. Consequently, you're only allowed to construct your base on the elevated rock formations.
Concerning my "ailment," the Baron would want to have servants whose weaknesses he knew and could exploit if necessary.
@MrSuednym Nope. I think the only C&C games I ever played were the first one, Red Alert, and Generals. Unfortunately, I own Generals. It was a gift. It has been collecting dust for a long time.
@ScreamingDoom Yep. In the States, I think Mike McShane is most known for playing Friar Tuck in "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" and some character on "Seinfeld" (I never liked that show, but I know he was in it a few times).
@TheSlyFox16 There are a few examples which answer your question. Let me cite 1:50- "I might even show a cutscene or two from one of [House Ordos]." Still, I've only committed to playing through House Harkonnen's campaign.
@GrimithR You were kinda quiet in the beginning but it turned out fine as it went on. This is one of the few Westwood games that I've never had the pleasure of playing, so i'm excited for this series :D
While I have played a lot of C&C I never got the chance to play Dune so I am looking forward to see what I have missed out on =p. Also thanks for taking the time to fill us in on the lore it really helps out in understanding whats going on.
@sreyn01 I've read the original six-book series by Frank Herbert, the two ending books which comprised "Dune 7" by his son and Kevin J. Anderson, and several supplemental books - such as those covering the Butlerian Jihad. In short, yes.

The sound quality is decent, but i think you made the right decision in lowering ingame volume a bit in favor of a bit louder mic.

2:50 That's the exact sound of one of the elevators from Blade Runner, another Westwood game.
Interesting that I still recognise it after all these years

@TheDorksman Indeed. I still recognize stock sounds that were used in Daggerfall.

So, Grim. Did you ever play Red Alert 2. That is one of my favorite computer games of all time. And I wish I could grow some eyebrows like that guy.

@GrimithR That's a shame. I was also not much a fan of Generals... Zero Hour was fun for a while... But, not RA2.

Who cares about being some goody-two-shoes savior of the known universe when you can have Heart Plugs in everyone?
