  • I love the deranged animation in this, the plot line, Billy West voicing Cecil... it's brilliant.

I'm not a fan of Brahms, though.

  • wow. this was posted 5 years ago...I'm amazed it took me this long to look it up, seeing as John K mentioned it enough on his blog. This is really quite tame, but definitely has many of the hallmarks of the Spumco style - especially the posing and expressions, not to mention the periodic "off-model" style changes. This particular episode reminds me of that one Petey Pate episode on Mighty Mouse where Petey becomes ill and briefly sees the error of his ways...

  • this is funnier than the original

  • Definitely better animation than most 80s cartoons.

  • Not a bad revival, shame it had such a short run...got some bad reviews, but seemed fairly faithful to the original, even using some animation from the original show's open.

  • "I think these animations are where Spumco got some of their ideas

They were. read the comments below!

  • @SteveCarras the animators that went on to form Spumco like John K., Jim Smith, Lynee Naylor and a few others made this show and then went on to form spumco after this. Spumco was founded in 1988

  • Nyah ah ah

  • I think these animations are where Spumpco got some of their ideas

  • they made this

  • This Angus Youngs favorite show from when he was a kid :)

  • The New Beany and Cecil had a lot of potential. It would have been a great cartoon on Saturday mornings, much like its predecessor! They should have stuck with it!

  • alot of contreversy around these new episodes of the cartoon, there was 15 episode order, only 8 were ever made and 5 aired. John K. was hired by the Clampett family to work on the show but ABC refused to have him because of the Mighty MOuse incident. but eventually tehy gave in cause the Clampett estate said it was eitehr John K. ( he was a student of Bobs) or nothing. Anyway, tehy put strict restrictions on the cartoon and John tried to decieve them.eventually he quit and the show ended.

  • In other words, it was an echo of what happened just a few years later w/John K. and Nickelodeon over Ren and Stimpy...those network suits never learn, I tell ya.

  • HEY! The 80s is only better because you don't understand when the show earlier was done as a cartoon back in the 60s time and standards were different, and it was pretty wild for that timne, just the flahsing credits.

  • I wonder how long Cecil is...

  • I LOVE Dishonest John!

  • Oh maurice is the bad guy..

He sound like principal pixiefrog but younger.

  • Is that Billy West voicing Cecil?

  • @togio100 Yessir indeed it is!

  • This mini-series actually turned out a lot better than the 60's version. It's a lot more animated and appealing. That and my pops worked on this. =D

  • Dishonest John reminds me so much of squidward...

  • @23119007648174 The perpetually miserable jerk you CAN'T HELP but feel sorry for!

  • Is that Maurice LaMarche as Dishonest John and the doctor? Dishonest John sounds like Egon Spengler from "The Real Ghostbusters" and the doctor sonds like Toucan Sam. Not surprising since LaMarche did/does both those voices, too. Kind of cool that Billy West and Maurice LaMarche worked together almost ten years before "Futurama."

  • john k was forced to do a lot of shit for dic but it was work wunnit? and without it he would never have found billy west and half his animating team that made spumco so it ain't all bad eh?

  • I grrew up watching the original Beany and Cecil in the 60s and it was so much better than this crap.

  • which video has Cecil singing Raggmopp?

  • The episode is DJ the DJ. It used to be up but it got pulled.

  • gawd! This cartoon brings back so many childhood memories.I used to watch this afterschool. Thanks for posting!(love Dishonst John)

  • Uncle Captains sounds more like The Great Gildersleeve.

  • This was one of those shows where they did everything as close to the original as possible. A darn shame it was cancelled so soon. It's also one of the "tamest" things John K has worked on yet.

  • Yeah, it only lasted 3 mos, as I recall...remember watching it once (was 9 @ the time), and def a decent revival.

  • I LOVE Dishonest John! NYAH ha ha! :-D

  • Is the Captain voiced by adam west?

  • Wow, I knew John K did a lot of weird stuff with The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse, but I had no idea about this. I mean, this cartoon isn't the typical "New Adventures" crap that was usually being put out back then... especially for a crappy company like Dic...

  • HOLY CRAP!!!

I caught the end of this on tv one time, and I searched for this high and low for years!

    awesome.

    thanks for posting!

  • I would like to see more of DIC's Beany and Cecil, too. Although it may be tough, for it was cancelled after about a month on the air.

  • when can you upload more!!!!!!! :D

  • I didnt' know John did an episode of Beany & Cecil!? That's a gem! Oh boy!

  • thanks for posting this, a rare treat! :D
