The switch to digital was a nightmare! My dad bought a whole bunch of converter boxes, and I couldn't figure the dumb shit out. One of our standard definition TVs picks up digital signals without a converter box, so I saw what some of the channels looked like. It was awful! Some of the shows in standard aspect ratio were surrounded by letter boxes on all four sides, when the show could've just fit the whole screen! We ended up buying a big LCD and a wall mount. I miss analog.

The switch to digital was amazing, went from 8 channels (4 with that good ole analog snow we all love), to 24 digital channels (16 in HD). Yes there is a lot of crap on TV, but I would rather pay $0 per year for some Sports and News, plus odd TV series, than put $600-700 per year into the cable companies pockets just to watch the same stuff.

I have to agree with this.Analog worked fine for me, and now with this digital crap I can only watch ONE tv in my room becaue i dont want to spend $70 USD on some stupid converter box.And another problem-The show will freeze in frames if your Digital Antanas arnt turned in the right channel if it has a Dial and (Or) your antana isnt an area.Every 3 seconds the Show will freeze up on me.Yeah DTV-The future of TV.Also they say "GET MORE CHANNELS" When we only get 4....

I am convinced that part of the reason for this shift to digital is because the cable and dish companies lobbied Congress so that most of us will not be able to watch TV for free. I hooked up the box and could not get one channel. Before digital, I could get 6 channels.

I stopped watching TV a couple of years ago, only time i turn it on is to watch hockey, and DVD's. Usual broadcast is utter shit and tripe, apparently designed to dumb people down, and it only takes 10 seconds of it to feel the effects. No wonder the current generation of people are more depressed and suicidal than ever before.
