One good way for all you beginners with a friend that has Pokemon Black and White or if you have 2 copies of Pokemon or White is to use Escavalier, Karrablast's evolution. Both of Caitlin's teams has no Pokemon with a fire type attack so basically she's screwed. Hope this helps for all you beginners.

P.S. The best nature for Escavalier is Brave or Modest. Plus Shell Armor is better than Swarm to avoid Crits. Karrablast's Shed Skin turns into Shell Armor

@ktonlai actually Serperior has the ability reverant which means if it uses Leaf Storm its Sp. Atk goes up 2 stages instead of down 2 stages, and it's also really fast so Snivy isn't really the worst starter.

one thing that really helped me thru this fight and against Grimsley was catching that level 70 Volcarona you can get at the Relic Castle after beating N. if you level it up a few times it can pretty much 1 shot all of Caitlin's pokemon with Bug Buzz or Heat Wave (which is REALLY nice to have to get rid of her metagross and bronzong). tho, the only thing that gets in the way is her Sigilyph.

@X98Wolf theres no point in arguing with people who dont know how to use sweepers properly so i'll leave you with this: serperior sucks in game and in competitively, until dream world gets released, the reason for this is its attack is too low to utilize its speed and its defenses are high but grass is too weak of a type (fire, flying and ice moves are VERY popular) to be good for defensive pokemon. it has a great movepool but its stats arent good enough to make use of it.
