  • great to hear again ...... once my friends and I used to sing this laughing .....

    fantastic words/sound combination

tried to get him to sing it at a Grimms gig ..... but he wouldn't - a rights thing I think .......

  • booked Zoot with Spencer Davies Group for the 1967 Rag Ball in Brighton at The Metropole , first time they had had 'pop' groups there. God that man was so drunk sacked the band twice and would not stop playing until they turned the power off.

I saw Zoot about 4 years ago and reminded him of it, his first question, was I drunk his 2nd did I sack the band, I said twice , his reply christ I must have been drunk. Good times.

  • Scene Club was better, but respect to Georgie, Chris and Zoot.

  • great track, this is the one that got me into zoot

  • Great thumping track with beautiful 60's solid brass,love it,love it,love it.

  • Sure I used to see them as the house band in a club in Oxford Street back around '65-66. Think it was Tiles. Great band

  • The story of my life. My favorite Zoot Money song.

  • A VERY clever, tongue in cheek song. Great .Thanks for the post. I never actually knew what they looked like until now.The song seemed to come and go so quickly. I don;t even think it was a big hit. It got plenty of plays on radio though.

  • Inspiration for us all . 80's and 90 's Soul music Dexy's etc THANKS !

  • Absolutely... I'd bet good money that Kevin Rowland owns a copy of this 7"....

  • Thank you Xpinger for sharing this post. My husband Ray Smith former band member of Heads Hands and Feet co-wrote this song in 1966. It's nice to see it on Youtube. Ray spoke to Zoot and Paul Williams the other day and there both doing great. Thanks again.

  • hello - I'm looking for songs done by Paul Williams whose voice I got to know through Juicy Lucy.

Can you direct me to find some material he did? All I know is that he joined Tempest. But what has he done since?

Is there anything available on the market?

Thanks alot - with greetings from Austria

  • In that case, please pass on my thanks to Mr Smith for this great track.

It still fills the dance floor!

  • I love this song, Zoots voice is so distinctive. Remember him acting as well, a very versatile fella. x x

  • Yeh,love it,love it,love it,big brass sixties!

  • hes my teachers dad lol

  • Anyone got any 'bennies'? This is fantastic, full, pounding soul.

  • As old Flamingo dudes We love you Zoot. But stop being a bigheaded cunt sometimes.

  • This vid at 2:35 resembles last image of Bill G. playing kinda electric guitar ! He is a 70ish man either so it's OK. This song what a great song ! didn't hear again by decades so thanks for posting.

  • A 60's Classic.terrific full sound.

  • Umskiddy. yep well done Im getting old!Im sure I might have seen rod stewart when he was called Rod the Mod lol martha and the Vandellas were performing and they were brilliant. I think I was the only white raver in the audience lol

  • Flamingo Wardour Street was brilliant got me the sack about 7 times for staying out all night. Also went to a club in Brixton cant remember name.60s were brilliant times with superb bands

  • Was it the Ram jam Club?

  • Ram Jam Club dude...you the man.....

  • tinshedmusic, I've just had a listen to the Jeff St.John version as you requested.I'm sorry but it does not live up to the Zoot Money version.Jeff St. John's effort is weaker, less gutsy and of a poorer production. His voice fails in many areas too.Other than the Americans, nobody can match up to British soul.History has proved this.

  • Do you remember leaving the Albion in Barnet for the Flamingo on a Friday night (Wendy Dave & Paul)in that great red Ford convertable to hear Zoot Money, Chris Farlowe, John Mayal & Georgie Fame - Those most memories are still with me.

  • Jeff st John ,australian 60s 70s Did a smashing version of this tune ,more power ,bigger sound ,...check it out...man!

  • "madman running throught the fields" is an all-time great psyche song from them when they became Dantalion's Chariot..............can anyone post it? (I don't have it) but it's a real nice dreamy song. The Chariot only lasted a year, but made a decent impact with their new sound in '67 and they had some of the best light shows around, from what I hear. It's cool, too how recognizable Andy's guitar work is on this. He had a very unique sound...you can always tell it's him when you hear him. Thanx

  • The Great Zoot Money!

    What a performer...

  • one of the greatest 60s bands, such a big booty sound, what a great song, who thought the words up?.great stuff

  • Mod Classic!!

    Zoot Money killin it again!!

    Liverpool Mods!

  • Just like the old days at the Flamingo - super sound.

  • wish I could have been there :)

a little before my time unfortunately
