booked Zoot with Spencer Davies Group for the 1967 Rag Ball in Brighton at The Metropole , first time they had had 'pop' groups there. God that man was so drunk sacked the band twice and would not stop playing until they turned the power off.
I saw Zoot about 4 years ago and reminded him of it, his first question, was I drunk his 2nd did I sack the band, I said twice , his reply christ I must have been drunk. Good times.

A VERY clever, tongue in cheek song. Great .Thanks for the post. I never actually knew what they looked like until now.The song seemed to come and go so quickly. I don;t even think it was a big hit. It got plenty of plays on radio though.
Thank you Xpinger for sharing this post. My husband Ray Smith former band member of Heads Hands and Feet co-wrote this song in 1966. It's nice to see it on Youtube. Ray spoke to Zoot and Paul Williams the other day and there both doing great. Thanks again.
This vid at 2:35 resembles last image of Bill G. playing kinda electric guitar ! He is a 70ish man either so it's OK. This song what a great song ! didn't hear again by decades so thanks for posting.
takes me back to the 60's...home from work friday, dinner, bath, out the door, the flamingo, the scene, ram jam club, klooks kleek, Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames - Zoot Moneys Big Roll Band, Chris Farlowe and The Thunderbirds, getting blocked on purple hearts, home again late sunday night, back to work monday waiting for the next weekend...GREAT times
Umskiddy. yep well done Im getting old!Im sure I might have seen rod stewart when he was called Rod the Mod lol martha and the Vandellas were performing and they were brilliant. I think I was the only white raver in the audience lol
Flamingo Wardour Street was brilliant got me the sack about 7 times for staying out all night. Also went to a club in Brixton cant remember name.60s were brilliant times with superb bands
tinshedmusic, I've just had a listen to the Jeff St.John version as you requested.I'm sorry but it does not live up to the Zoot Money version.Jeff St. John's effort is weaker, less gutsy and of a poorer production. His voice fails in many areas too.Other than the Americans, nobody can match up to British soul.History has proved this.
Do you remember leaving the Albion in Barnet for the Flamingo on a Friday night (Wendy Dave & Paul)in that great red Ford convertable to hear Zoot Money, Chris Farlowe, John Mayal & Georgie Fame - Those most memories are still with me.
"madman running throught the fields" is an all-time great psyche song from them when they became Dantalion's Chariot..............can anyone post it? (I don't have it) but it's a real nice dreamy song. The Chariot only lasted a year, but made a decent impact with their new sound in '67 and they had some of the best light shows around, from what I hear. It's cool, too how recognizable Andy's guitar work is on this. He had a very unique sound...you can always tell it's him when you hear him. Thanx
great to hear again ...... once my friends and I used to sing this laughing .....
fantastic words/sound combination
tried to get him to sing it at a Grimms gig ..... but he wouldn't - a rights thing I think .......

hello - I'm looking for songs done by Paul Williams whose voice I got to know through Juicy Lucy.
Can you direct me to find some material he did? All I know is that he joined Tempest. But what has he done since?
Is there anything available on the market?
Thanks alot - with greetings from Austria

In that case, please pass on my thanks to Mr Smith for this great track.
It still fills the dance floor!
