I think Axl has that great sensitiviy, and Slash has that hard rocking edge, thats why the combination was so good!
this sounds even more like the appetite GnR than the rest of chinese democracy, minus the intro. the record as a whole: underrated. i wish it'd been mixed differently. not so polished like crystal. but that doesn't kill the record for me. it's ambitious, and you rarely get that from art these days. especially music. i think the record is awesome. you hear a person we all had on posters, dealing with a different life now. battling expectations. it's pretty crazy. great songs.

Same for me. I used to think NuGnR were a complete joke because Silkworms was my first introduction to the new band...and now I think Chinese Democracy is one of the best albums of the decade and I support Axl and the boys 100%

As for "impossible" without all members, Old Guns were able to write with one lead guitarist and theyre better.

I like Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Van Halen...
Chinese Democracy is better than AFD, i know, i know. "You CRAZY MOTHERFUCKER HOW COULD YOU" is coming but Chinese Democracy is the more mature record for more mature audiences. My favorite album from GnR is UYI2, no filler, mature, and tells a story. Then Chinese Democracy, mature, no filler. Then AFD, Not very mature, really great songs, some filler. Then UYI1, lots of filler, few memorable songs. Then Lies, Short, 1 or 2 memorable songs. Finally TSI, cover album, sucked.
There you go, it's just what I thought. You have a different sense of what you like about rock. I respect what you say, and you are going to probably say I'm immature for this, but I like the craziness from those albums. You're Crazy, WTTJ, Reckless Life, Back Off Bitch, that to me is the way rock and roll should be. I don't really care about maturity for these guys, because they aren't trying to get a message out there. Serj Tankian goes well with pianos and strings in his solo album...
Maturity gets boring! Look at System of a Down. They were on of the craziest bands ever, with lyrics that made little sense, and they are amazing! Some of the best songs ever are about girls and drugs (Not advocating). It's craziness and recklessness that makes rock and roll what it is. I didn't really feel CD was a "fun" album.
TSI was an awful album all around just was made to try and save the band from crashing and burning, which it eventually did, but came right back. CD is a great album granted it's noting compared to AFD or UYI but it is a great album and really shows Axl's abilities, and to simply say it's not a good album is asinine. Have you heard any of GnR's recent concert material in Japan and Canada? They sounds great.
Now I know you're all sucking up to Axl. You tell me that their drummer(Can't even play the WTTJ fill) is good, and I will believe that rock and roll truly is dying. They don't sound anywhere as good as the old GNR live, and if it took Rose 15 years to write something a 10th as good as the UYI's, I have definitly given up on GnR. True you didn't I just assumed my apologies. Brain was quite the drum as was The Rev (R.I.P). I mean mature as in well the subjects for the songs are more mature than say Perfect Crime where it's just freakin wild. They do have some 'crazy songs' on CD for example Riads and the Bedouins, or Shackler's, but nothing compared to like Nightrain. I would say the album is an interesting turn compared to UYI. GnR Is still very rock I mean their setlists are still mostly UYI and AFD material.

The only reason people like me say Chinese Democracy is bad is because all you have to compare it to is the old Guns N Roses, which is just way better. Being the "World's Most Dangerous Band" helped get them famous, so if they were writing mature lyrics and songs to begin with I honestly don't think they would have gotten as far. If this were Axl's side project, and not GNR, I would like CD a lot more, because it is not GNR.

Axl was just looking for time to finish off the edges of the songs, getting over his personal problems and findign the right band members all at the same time. He hasn't had much of a break in the 14 years, they've been years ofhard work whilst Slash sat around conplaining about him. Dont get me wrong, Slash + old Gn'R are awesome, but people should stop talking abotu the new Guns negatively, they are just as good and Chinese Democracy is just incredible. (I like this song)

The most songs on Chinese Democracy are really great and have real good stuff, like the solo in Scraped or the Single Chinese Democracy real cool riffs, but this song actually is not synonyme to the stuff on CD. There's a reasen, why it isn't on CD. But in some of the songs in their album the solo is not really good, to much notes don't sound good and in some solos they used to much special effects...But Guns n' Roses is just my favourite group and the most of the music the make is great!

They are still as popular as before, just with a little break or a "sleep" for finding new members and creating new songs. It's a bit different to the old songs, but the most of the elements are still the same...listen to the lyrics, axl still sings the same, about personal or political problems. Yeah there are new elements like some metal elements and special effects, but this don't says it's a new or an other band...And in my opinion, they have more power than ever...

First of all I like Chinese Democracy, don't get all butt hurt just becasue I SOMEWHAT (read the first line of my post) disagree! I just think Axl took too long to make the album, plus he has too many members coming and going, sure it takes time to make songs, but we all know Axl is a perfectionist and probably could have released the album 7 or 8 years ago and it would have still been great! They made BOTH Use Your Illusion albums in 4 years!
Acctually, most of the UYI albums were written along with appetite, or even before that. And Axl is a perfectionist, i can say that. Hes also an asshole sometimes. But hes a damn good singer.
And asking Axl Rose to single handedly rebuild a legandary rockband, tour, and put out an album, is going to take ALOT of time. If Brian Johnson, Joe Perry, Bruce Dickenson, John Lennon, James Hatfeld or even Bon Jovi would need a decade to do that, at minimum.

What people basically say is that Axl was a dick for causing slash to leave (even though as you say it was slash's ego, not axl's) , so he should now ditch a whole new band just to bring them back. I'm glad that slash left, because we would never had had such an awesome album as Chinese Democracy had he stayed. Axl has no reason to ruin this band now, not when they're doing so well again, especially as slash is screwing around with pop and rap crap.

@AxlRemix Spaghetti was one of Slash's favourite albulms because it was with a better drummer (Sorum) and he liked the guitar of Gilby. And made it sound a lot tighter.

I hate the new Guns N' Roses so much... not are they not good old rock, they are barely EVEN rock! Come on, what is the purpose of TWO Lead Guitarists? And TWO Keyboard players. Really? This is really unnecessary. Chinese Democracy would NOT have made GNR big like Appetite did.
And I want a response to why they have multiple Leads and Keyboards. I am curious why they "Really need them" if they're "So much better" Then the original 6 line-up (Yes, I will count Dizzy).

Sounds better... have you even heard Appetite For Destruction or Use Your Illusion 1 OR 2!? Even the Spaghetti Inccident man! I don't really consider myself stuck in the past, because I wasn't actually around for the original members to be together, but I guess I am an outcast for liking REAL rock instead of this crappy Industrial Rock full of synths and electronic sound effects.
As for "impossible" without all members, Old Guns were able to write with one lead guitarist and theyre better.

Chinese Democracy was my FIRST Guns N' Roses album I ever bought (Spare my soul rock gods), THEN I got AFD and the UYI's. I had actually liked that album for a while, but then I started liking REAL rock. I'm guessing you just have a different taste of music than me, to say that this is better than the classic GNR. I like Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Van Halen...

Chinese Democracy is better than AFD, i know, i know. "You CRAZY MOTHERFUCKER HOW COULD YOU" is coming but Chinese Democracy is the more mature record for more mature audiences. My favorite album from GnR is UYI2, no filler, mature, and tells a story. Then Chinese Democracy, mature, no filler. Then AFD, Not very mature, really great songs, some filler. Then UYI1, lots of filler, few memorable songs. Then Lies, Short, 1 or 2 memorable songs. Finally TSI, cover album, sucked.

You're Crazy, WTTJ, Reckless Life, Back Off Bitch, that to me is the way rock and roll should be. Maturity gets boring! Look at System of a Down. They were on of the craziest bands ever, with lyrics that made little sense, and they are amazing! Some of the best songs ever are about girls and drugs (Not advocating). It's craziness and recklessness that makes rock and roll what it is. I didn't really feel CD was a "fun" album.

TSI was an awful album all around just was made to try and save the band from crashing and burning, which it eventually did, but came right back. CD is a great album granted it's noting compared to AFD or UYI but it is a great album and really shows Axl's abilities, and to simply say it's not a good album is asinine. Have you heard any of GnR's recent concert material in Japan and Canada? They sounds great.

Now I know you're all sucking up to Axl. You tell me that their drummer(Can't even play the WTTJ fill) is good, and I will believe that rock and roll truly is dying. They don't sound anywhere as good as the old GNR live, and if it took Rose 15 years to write something a 10th as good as the UYI's, I have definitly given up on GnR. Velvet Revolver is alright, but I've heard some of Slash's solo album, and THAT is good material. Sorry I'm asinine for thinking Axl showing off (and failing)sucks.

Lol yup and Sorum and Adler are amazing right? Ferrer is a great drummer granted he's nothing special but gets the job done, and he isn't what I was referring to. Alexdmni is right about CD being a mature album whereas UYI and AFD are more wild. Have you heard Axl's voice on this tour for songs like Nightrain and Mr. Brownstone, it's probably the best since their concert at the Ritz in '88. I do love to get into a good GnR debate which is why I'm commenting, I am not trying to be a dick.

I didn't say they were amazing drummers either, just better. There are many drummers ahead of all three of them in my eyes, including the Rev (RIP), John Dolmayan, Dave Lombardo, even Brain! True you didn't I just assumed my apologies. Brain was quite the drum as was The Rev (R.I.P). I mean mature as in well the subjects for the songs are more mature than say Perfect Crime where it's just freakin wild. They do have some 'crazy songs' on CD for example Riads and the Bedouins, or Shackler's, but nothing compared to like Nightrain. I would say the album is an interesting turn compared to UYI. GnR Is still very rock I mean their setlists are still mostly UYI and AFD material.

Thanks for actually not being a jerk like everyone else. The only reason people like me say Chinese Democracy is bad is because all you have to compare it to is the old Guns N Roses, which is just way better. Being the "World's Most Dangerous Band" helped get them famous, so if they were writing mature lyrics and songs to begin with I honestly don't think they would have gotten as far. If this were Axl's side project, and not GNR, I would like CD a lot more, because it is not GNR.

Axl was just looking for time to finish off the edges of the songs, getting over his personal problems and findign the right band members all at the same time. He hasn't had much of a break in the 14 years, they've been years ofhard work whilst Slash sat around conplaining about him. Dont get me wrong, Slash + old Gn'R are awesome, but people should stop talking abotu the new Guns negatively, they are just as good and Chinese Democracy is just incredible. (I like this song)

Slash didnt really sit around complaining,He formed a band (slash's snakepit) right after he left guns,and been on other people's records and formd velvet revolver and now hes working on the solo album which will be out soon,All(Well most of it) that while no one knew what is going with guns and axl (Mabye its related to what you said,I have no i idea).
The album has some good songs i liked alot,i got nothing to say about axl.

The most songs on Chinese Democracy are really great and have real good stuff, like the solo in Scraped or the Single Chinese Democracy real cool riffs, but this song actually is not synonyme to the stuff on CD. There's a reasen, why it isn't on CD. But in some of the songs in their album the solo is not really good, to much notes don't sound good and in some solos they used to much special effects...But Guns n' Roses is just my favourite group and the most of the music the make is great!

They are still as popular as before, just with a little break or a "sleep" for finding new members and creating new songs. It's a bit different to the old songs, but the most of the elements are still the same...listen to the lyrics, axl still sings the same, about personal or political problems. Yeah there are new elements like some metal elements and special effects, but this don't says it's a new or an other band...And in my opinion, they have more power than ever...

The other problem is that the list of "band mebers" is ridiculous! The amount of people who are in the band now and who performed on the album and stuff is so uneven and crazy!
Also, now that Chinese Democracy finally came out how long will it be until the NEXT album!? Another 10 to 15 years!?

Acctually, most of the UYI albums were written along with appetite, or even before that. And Axl is a perfectionist, i can say that. Hes also an asshole sometimes. But hes a damn good singer.
And asking Axl Rose to single handedly rebuild a legandary rockband, tour, and put out an album, is going to take ALOT of time. If Brian Johnson, Joe Perry, Bruce Dickenson, John Lennon, James Hatfeld or even Bon Jovi would need a decade to do that, at minimum.
