I am from the United States, so I cannot comment one way or the other on the "gypsies" or Roma. However, I do have a question. Friends who've been to or are from Europe tell me that these gypsies, groups of people that stick to roaming caravans of large families and get by through means of theft and begging as primary finance, are referred to as a "race". Is that true? To me, they don't sound much like a race of their own, because they're characterized by their occupation, not physical traits.

The original Gypsies were worshippers of the Hindu god 'Ram', and so referred to themselves as 'Ramani', which became corrupted to 'Romani' after living in Persia, which spoke a language similar to the language of the Gypsies of that time. I am from the United States, so I cannot comment one way or the other on the "gypsies" or Roma. However, I do have a question. Friends who've been to or are from Europe tell me that these gypsies, groups of people that stick to roaming caravans of large families and get by through means of theft and begging as primary finance, are referred to as a "race". Is that true? To me, they don't sound much like a race of their own, because they're characterized by their occupation, not physical traits.

@Vulturu They why are they not referred to as such? I've researched the Gypsies, and many claim their racial roots to have come from medieval India. If this is so, they should be referred to as Indian. I don't see how they can claim individual racial identity.

I call it a "false technology" because, for one, it would cause planetary collapse if everyone on the planet were to adopt and live by this European technology.
