Robot rape at its finest! I never thought that lifting, drugging, grappling, drilling, skull fucking and head bashing could all be done to someone at the same time and i also never thought it possible to kill someone three times before they hit the floor.
William Hootkins was such a great actor - he's barely even recognisable here. This is such a fantastic cult movie - it oozes atmosphere and has brilliant characters in it.
I am currently remastering this DVD show to the director so to get a better version out there. This is a laserdisk Rip to DVD and re-Compressed onto a low quality set of .vob files. I dvd the rip (which color balance is way off, isn s'tharp at al, especially for Pal format, it is just pathetic; I have taken it upon myself to clean up this crappy job. Look for a re-release in the next 6 months or so.
Such a culty movie, for christ's sake. Love how cheap it is, there's so much atmosphere in it, and it seems so COMPLET, no sense of "Ah there's a normal street and a 711 just around that corner over there", it feels like you're THERE, no matter how one enjoys that venture. Love the flick, so nostalgic. Those were the days!
Those days are coming back! I never got to see it in a theater but now that it's being re-released theatrically, I won't miss it. That there will finally be a proper DVD released doesn't hurt either.
Not so much CHEAP as realistic. Director Richard Stanley demanded that a real robot be built (not fully functional, of course), but not a small model or primitive CGI.
Listen to Combischrist- Shut up and bleed while u watch this....IT IS AMAZING HOW WELL THE MUSIC GOES WITH IT!!!!
