Eh, we don't need EB on VC. Having a cartridge is the only true way to play Earthbound. not on ROMs, not as a VC game, just a good old cartridge. Nothing like blowing the dust off of it and shoving into a barely functional SNES. To be honest about Mother 3, I honestly think it was a let down. Earthbound 64 would been cooler bu far, and I think, more Americanized.

Mother 3 had the same storyline as EB64, nearly exactly.

90% of the music made it over from the DD version to GBA, he kept his same ideas :p

and this one was always set on Nowhere Islands, so it wouldn't have been more americanized.

And VC would rock since SNES carts are out of production and it would give new fans a way to legally play EB ;)

That's a real shame. I'm a new fan, and I don't think my appreciation for the series is diluted by my late discovery, and I'd certainly hope others wouldn't discount my opinions on it solely on that basis. It's a bit elitist.

This is a wonderful series that would likely be appreciated by any sensible person who gets a chance to play them. They're just very hard games to obtain, and Earthbound cartridges can be expensive.

Also, Mother 3 is /fantastic/, I don't know what you're on about there.

Mother 3 takes hundreds of years after EarthBound long after Ness died. Lucas looked like Ness at first because Ness looks like Ninten Ness' father from the first Mother game. It was just a trend. A trend they decided to break.

In the original game instead of the dragon bringing Claus and Hinawa back to life and restoring peace to the Nowhere Islands Lucas' heart is clouded with grief when Claus kills himself and the dragon wipes out the entire world while only Porky is left. But Shigesato Itoi's fellow producers convinced him to tone down the ending to a happy ending.

Porky was just an innocent kid who wanted friends before Giygas came.

@pkstarstorm1up that's debatable... Giygas brings out the evil in everyone's hearts. Giygas "brainwashes" nobody. PORKY did that, but Giygas did not. Consider giygas the ultimate temptation of evil to spring from our hearts.

Which is exactly why Ness had to overcome all the evil in his heart (remember magicant!) to challenge Giygas.

That said, this is just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt... none of this can be proven, obviously.

This song has such a depressing tone to it once you've explored the village and find out that all but a select few residence pretty much hate Lucas.

I was so sad when I first heard the second half of this song. Lighter, Fuel, Nana, Alec, Wess, Mapson, Nippolyte, and the Mayor's family are all that's left when you hear this music. From the last bit of Chapter 7 to the end, the game is nothing but sadness.
