Great video :) Nice and clear explanation. I am thinking of trying a toothbrush rug, they look fun to do. Do you think polar fleece is too tricky to start with?
Oh and is that henna on your nails? Neato if it is!
I've worked with fleece, its pretty easy to use. Only problem I've had with it is that its tensile strength is weak. I'll post about that on my blog one of these days. As I hope to upload a video about shortly, I've been out of circulation the last two months. My right femur gave out for no apparent reason. I've been through a surgery, now in recovery and looking for cause.
The dog is a Papillon, which is French for "Butterfly." I just finished uploading a 4 part series on our three. They are GREAT dogs... intelligent, friendly, never known them to be mean to any living creature, great with kids, etc.
Glad you liked the video- hoping to shoot some new ones soon... have a new camera, live in a new place, and have a friend who is willing to be my camera man- so any suggestions for what you'd like to see in a new video? Could be one I've got redone too.
This looks like a good hobby to start. But how do you know how long to make the strip of first knots? Does it matter? I was thinking of making trivets for my kitchen. I think this will work good for that. I found you while looking for video on crocheting rags. Which I didn't find. But after watching a few of these videos I think this would be better. Thanks for sharing. Good job.
Sorry for the delay in responding... took a break from blogging about the rugs. Within reason, it does not matter... if you make it very long, as in over 2 feet, you will get an oval rug. For a trivet (I make those routinely as "thank yous" for people who give me old clothes) I go about 3 inches, maybe 4.
I have a new camera, and a friend to use it, so I'm looking to shoot new and better videos... I'd love any suggestions you have for new ones or ones to remake. See my blog for post.
Yeh, I miss doing it too- anything I saved from the dumpster and either made into a rug or gave to a charity didn't end up in a landfill for eternity. The profligate waste of this society is utterly scandalous!
Yes- when ya got the skill and style, it really rocks. My wife and I are products of the 80s, she loves having an Iggy Pop / Depeche Mode member lookalike as arm candy.
As for the mess... we used to live there with another person who was like the Goddess Kali, the source of all chaos. Trying to keep it under control was like trying to keep back a hurricane. That's part of the reason we don't live there anymore.
Glad you liked it... as for the nails, I tend towards the goth idiom. My wife and I are children of the 80s, she loves having a husband who looks like he could have been playing with Iggy Pop or in Depeche Mode, its her idea of my being arm candy.
are your nails painted?? wierdo

User making statements which are so superficially absurd as to not merit comment, REALLY lmao!
(No, its not hers... not her style at all, its not even a woman's shirt.)

This video is too dark :( And it would be neat to see the finished product.

this is so cool! Thanks for sharing. I am curious of why you have your nails painted. I have never seen a straight guy do that. All the best!
