well there are a lot of vocab similarities though the grammar between Urdu/Punjabi/Pashto/etc. is quite different; in fact the only language spoken in Pakistan that is closest to Persian would be Baloch.
as for mixing english and Urdu; well not gona deny that. Actually i'm not happy about the trend, but i have little control over it. If things were my way, any trace of britisher culture would be eradicated.

I am pashtoon and i used to think that Ahmad Shah Masoud is no good man. Because i didnt know what kind of person he was but now i think that he was the true hero. If you search in youtube you can see that other leaders have done many crimes but i cant find anything that he has done wrong during the past war in Afghanistan. He was the best for every afghan and against Pakistan. He was capturing taliban and releasing them back without any punishment. All i want to say the he was the true Hero.
