  • Looks eerie now, but it did the job

  • that sure looks like a early introduction to kids tv,

and sure is a calm one,

  • crikey .. it looks primitive now, doesn't it... but rather charming :)

  • WOW that's weird that clock is exactly like mine to the last detail. and i agree with dannysteacher this is eerie

  • That is eerie. I remember we had a cuckoo clock like that and I was scared of it! Having seen this, I've realised I've still got a thing about cuckoo clocks!!

  • wow what memories

  • That takes us back to a far more innocent time (before I was born even!) when children would sit with their Mother to watch TV. Maybe we should return to those days?

  • Perhaps a little more soothing than the cbbc idents of today!

  • Many thanks for posting this on YouTube .. Such wonderful childhood memories of the fifties and our first tv .. a 12" Bush with a magnifing glass on the front!

  • i remember it well as you say such happy memories we to had a bush tv

  • That is adorable.

  • Hence the Play School clock?

Was this ever shown in the sixties? The last bit rang a very loud bell.

  • I remember watching this as a child in the Dublin of the 1950's. As we were outside the service area of the BBC, reception was very sporadic.

Nonetheless, I recall the sheer magic of being able to see television pictures transmitted across the sea from London...
