@MileoMajor White people are conditioned to appeal to authority no matter how backward or atrocious that authority is. I'm white and I don't think I could get a fair trial if I did something, once you're arrested you're "guilty" in 95% of white eyes.
@biblefarce It's the truth only to you. What do you mean "Nothing has been gained?" It's educational for the audience to understand just how atrocious it really is. You're unbelievable. I'm so glad that I don't know you in the real world.
"It's educational for the audience to understand just how atrocious it really is. "
lol That one makes little sense. The audience is being shown how disgusting abuse can be. Tha is it. And again many will leave the theater thinking "Wow i can't believe how violent these blacks are". Paul is right.
@Thedarksecret1 Go look @ the interview Janet Jackson did on The View when she was promoting for colored girls Barbara was talking abt all the abuse from the black men towards black women & THEN she asks Janet "Is it still that way"?! Now do U C what he means by when YT ppl C black ppl in these broken desperate lowest of the low roles they relate that to all black ppl because that is how they already saw us in their minds especially when that is all they see from us on TV anyway
No, people see what they want to see regardless of what you emit. Black people have had positive roles as well. Sidney Portier played in nothing but positive roles his whole career. Bill Cosby launched the Cosby show, Will Smith launched the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, etc. We've always strove to play in dignified roles despite Hollywood's opposition to it. I honestly believe that most of white America likes to see the negative stereotypes because it reinforces what they already harbor.
You need to get over this self-blaming stuff. Colored Girls was a very uplifting movie. However, if all you took from it was the violence and sexual degradation then that's your problem (white, black, or whatever). In that movie one should have picked up on the themes of perseverance, triumph, soul-searching, and the ability to confide in your sisters and support them (and vice versa). The movie THE HELP just came out and it's an instant success. I wonder why. Would you prefer to watch that?
Paul Mooney is a good Comedian with a lot of common sense. A black man but people may not know that his wife is white according to info that was released on this site by a professor who knows him. I thought so but I wasn't sure. I was a little surprised because of his high profile as a black man. Don't know if they are still toegther but no matter. As long as he is happy.
"precious" was not about 1 particular person. The author explained that the character was a mixture of actual people who went through some element of the story portrayed. I do think that we need more positive movies, positive images, and publicity for black achievement.
I diasagree what Paul Mooney said about keeping family secrets a secret. If someone, like Precious, was abused she should speak on it. Keeping something, like that, a secret could have detrimental consequences.
@Thedarksecret1 What Paul pertains to keeping family business family business. It could be spoken on but it should be spoken about amongst family, or to someone that has the sincere interest of the person in mind, so they could help. But not spoken about in a gossip like manner or for profit.
@uthmanamoni I disagree wholeheartedly with that statement. Precious didn't have anyone within her family to confide in. What is she to do...not "snitch." That's crazy! She should tell her story to anyone that is willing to hear. Why should she care about how it makes her family look when considering that it was her family that played the role of perpetrators.
@biblefarce Why not? They shoudn't sit there and present you with the sugar coated version. If it was a movie about slaves you wouldn't want a director filming the movie and making it appear to be romantic (like Gone with the Wind) would you? Fuck that! I want the real.
@Thedarksecret1 Like i said, I see what Paul is saying. blacks already have high child abuse rates. Some things should be kept a secret. There is nothing entertaining about brutality.
@biblefarce You are such a fucking idiot for making this comment! It's people, like you, that destroy our communities with your bullshit code of silence. What a dumb ass!
Paul Mooney is always on point because he uses his genius humor to make people aware that no matter how far you fall into fantasy, you'll have to come back down to reality. and Reality cannot be created, it exist beyond us as people.
The whole point is we as moors which means blackamoor which means any black man, a word no longer used in modern dictionarys.anyway we have been stripped of our language our beliefs our morals made to believe that we are less than human when we are more than human why,at the same time they (white people) want to do be look like everything we are its ovious who should have been in charge.. MANY STYLS AKA OLMEC EL
Oh, I was hoping you were, but with many young people today they are so lost, brainwashed and hyptnotized they don't know what real art is and don't know anything about the greats ...
yep. that's what i said. what's wrong with that? what does that mean? "black is the new white"? anyone who constantly talks about race is obviously a racist.
How did you find the complete interview?! ...And you should see what he said about beyonce ....SOOO TRUE!!! The video is called "Interview w/ Paul Mooney pt3 Praises Kanye, Goes in on Beyonce & Taylor Swift"
If you like him you should REALLY check out Dick Gregory!!! One of my all time favorites. Dick Gregory will be saying some stuff and spitting that knowledge that'll really have you thinking ...that is until YouTube aka *Big Brother* shuts them down and takes down the videos and accounts ....
@MA2873 no hes a pathetic lazy crazy racist, whos crippling black peoples independance and self responsibility with his lies. U like it coz it gives u an excuse for being a failure, u can just blame someone else.
Hes right because when I see the dude who played Freddy Kruger, I know hes an actor... but when I see that dude who played Candyman... Oh man, he gives me chills.
And now Whitney is dead...maybe he's onto something about that contract with the devil.
