I know a girl who was (perhaps still is) a hooker. She's also a drug user and gets into a lot of fights; she's been in prison 13 times. When she told me that she'd gone to church to pray for her brother, who was in a coma, I had to bite my tongue; this girl still believes in God, and if she's right she's going to hell. The moral of the story? Never underestimate the strange power of medieval thought on the modern human mind.
Our mentality will never reach God's. we're silly on these issues, no offence. resist what is evil, embrace the bueaty of life with love, every moment is pricelesss. there is a master plan we are just caught in the middle. what is worthy in Gods eyes? it seems much of what we experience is random. our human attributes will help build or desrtoy us. another group might not realize who, what, where and why. God is allowing us to know we are limited. He is perfect and our creator. please reply.

It doesn't really matter in the "real" world what the bible says .... it's a book! Harry Potter is a book should we take a moral lead from that? after all there is far more proof for the Author of Harry Potter than the "supposed" author of the bible!
The proof of the authority of the Bible is all around-but you already knew that-right. Does Harry Potter predict real life events before they happen, or state scientific fact before discovery. 2 Examples.
1) The Bible says the Earth is round. This was written hundreds of years before this fact was discovered.
2) Optimal blood clotting takes place 8 days after birth-written in Bible hundreds of years before it was discovered.
If the Bible is true-then you have a lot to worry about.
Circle and round are not spherical! if you stand in a desert and turn round the horizon is circular, how could Daniels tree be so tall it could be seen from "all the kingdoms of the earth" if the earth is a ball? that only works if the earthis flat
Do you understand the term coinage and literary advancement? In 1611 (AV date and prior) the term circle also referred to spherical. For proof of this look at Websters Dictionary (1800 edition) Secondly, the passage you refer to (Dan 4) is just an illustration (symbolic) and hence the interpretation given in the same chapter. Yet you do not dispute my reference on the blood. Interesting.
I don't dispute your blood claim because I have no idea if it's true of not, nice try with Dan 4, because it makes no sense you take it to be symbolic, sorry matey you can't cherry pick like that, when people say Adam & Eve, Noah's ark and the six day creation are ridiculous you can just say "Oh! didn't I mention it's all symbolic" so websters says circle and sphere are interchangeable? OK I'll accept that, but all that means is you don't know if the bible says the earth is a disc or a ball
BUT, Daniel 4 is all about a dream, and Nebuchadnezzar is trying to find out what the dream meant. If the dream was literal, an interpretation would not have been necessary. Yet the fact that Daniel gives the interpretation, i.e. your kingdom will be big (Dan 4:18) suggests that the concept is symbolic, mainly because it says so!
I understand Christians use the excuse in various ways, but I am a Bible believing Christian and I believe in a literal account of Adam and Eve and Noahs Ark.
I think your second comment, the Bible doesnt specifically say whether it was a disc or a ball it completely pathetic. No one believed the world was circular at that time, so for the Bible to have said that was amazing for the time.
You are yet to give me any evidence against the Bible(I have completely refuted all your claims) it suggests you are standing upon ill-concieved ideas. If the Bible is right, you need to start thinking about where your going to go in the future.
You can think it pathetic if you want, why not use the word "orb" why would the bible (the inerrent word of god) be so vague? "No one believed the world was circular at that time" wrong, mariners noticed the mast of a ship was visible before ship, and ancient greeks noticed the earths shadow on the moon was always round, so it had to be spherical in a lunar eclipse
Why does the bible say that Pi=3-0? not very accurate for a creator who made a world so infinitely complex on he could do it!, don't try the "cubits differ" excuse, it's a ratio. ratios don't differ
Why is it that I always back up any argument with "evidence" i.e. Biblical reference or book title and yet you fail to give any yourself? Consequently you never commented on whether you accepted my answer in response to your tree comment in Daniel 4 (though the evidence provided was irrefutable.) Instead you do what any frightened sceptic does and run to semantics without evidence.
Perhaps another word would have been better than circular, but the argument that one word is better than another applies to every book in existance. Plus if your want vague, then perhaps you might want to explain the innocuous comment to pi? If you want a piece of advice it would be this. Actually read the Bible.
Kings 7:23 'And he [Hiram on behalf of King Solomon] made a molten sea, ten cubits from the one brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.' A similar account is given in the parallel passage in 2 Chronicles 4:2
ok, no semantics, why would god never ever (and I mean ever) heal or cure an amputee? salomanders can grow new limbs as do starfish, many lizards grow new tails, we have all the infromation within us to grow a new limb (DNA) your god is credited with curing brain tumours, lung cancer ect. but thease are ilnesses that have two out comes, kill you or get better, but surly an all powerful god would once in a while cure a deserving amputee
As I pointed out lots of people knew the earth was round before the bible said "circle" a soccer ball is either round, spherical or an orb or just ball shaped, you will never hear people say a soccer ball is a circle, how will jesus appear to everyone on earth "from the clouds" at "the same time" if the earth is not flat? Seth had sex with his sister if christians have no trouble with that (because it's in the bible) so would it have been ok for Adam to have sex with his daughter? same logic
This is the last comment I'm posting to you simply because you are a waste of space. Now, you haven't got back to me over the response to your comment on Daniel 4. Secondly, you have completely switched the subject, a tactic of those who have failed to argue appropriately by talking about healing and amputees.
Thirdly, you say people knew what a circle was back then(du'h) but they didn't realise the Earth was circular at that point in time and it was generally considered flat and square (you never gave any evidence on the contrary (ONE BOOK TITLE EVEN!) Now, I am going to respond to all your comments simply to show I have not bowed out without answer.
Firstly, I'm not sure what you're getting at with Kings 7:23-I am a statastician, but my other maths is awful-you need to be clear on this-do not assume others understand if you have an esoteric knowledge base. Secondly, you assume we all have the same base DNA-that is true if you're an evolutionist but I am not. Secondly I don't trust scientific theory at all, having an extensive background in psychology and science.
Finally, where does it say Jesus will appear to everyone in the clouds? It says in 1 Cor 15 and 1 Thess 4 that we will meet him in the clouds but no where does it say the entire world will see him. FACT-check it for yourself-simply because only Christians will see Jesus at the rapture, but only once we are in the clouds.
Secondly, your comment that Seth slept with his sister, so why couldn't adam sleep with his daughter is awful logic as well considering marriage was instituted at the end of Genesis 2 making this an abomination immediately. If your referring to genetics again though, Genesis 6 might shed some light on your other comment. Now, it is time for me to ask questions.
1) GIVE ME ONE CONTRADICTION!
2) GIVE ME THE NAME OF ONE BOOK THAT SHOWS THAT PEOPLE THOUGHT THE WORLD WAS ROUND PRE 15TH CENTURY
"Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them" ..not a dream this time was it?
"And He will lift up a standard for the nations And assemble the banished ones of Israel, And will gather the dispersed of Judah From the four corners of the earth" ....Hmmm doesn't sound very spherical does it? (also does your circle have corners?)
I like the fact that you're going away and reading the Bible. Firstly, your reference is from Matthew 4:8 (however that does not affect the validity.) Now, look at this verse: Luke 4:5
"And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time"-now this is the same story-and yet it clearly says that this took place in a moment of time (i.e. they were NOT stationary) thus this sheds light on the apparent flat earth of Matthew 5:8.
Your second reference is merely a saying which people continue to use today (and you know it is a saying) The four corners refer to a central point (work that one out.) Yet you STILL haven't given me a contradiction or a verse (in context and in the light of related passages) that say the Earth is flat or square! Interesting hey.
Well, the passage I quoted suggests a flat earth (you agree that's why you posted your passage) but your passage can be read to suit both our stand points, so it's hardly a counter point, merely the best interpretation to suit your needs but has no detrimental effect on my interpretation.
"Your second reference is merely a saying which people continue to use today" of course it's a much used figure of speech, but it's origin is obviously the bible (can you give me a book that used it before?)
No, but lets look at this verse: Isaiah 40:22 "It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth." Consequentially, we find no evidence (that cannot be countered) for your flat/square earth, but the Bible clearly talks about the Circle of Earth.
My response to the second part is simply this-look at the number four in scripture. Four winds (there are more than four winds.) Four seals (there are more than four seals) and you do not understand my reference to the four points relating to a central point. When you have a central point (even on a sphere) you can plot north, east, south west-correct? This is Biblical and also a fact in reference to geography. The question I asked you, is what is the central point of the world?
Okay...love time is over. I support God because I know he loves me, not because I'm afraid that he will attack me and strangle me or something. The people who only support God because they truly are afraid of them... I feel sorry for them....
Trying to scan the human body to find the unified body/soul function is like trying to find an invisible man in a house, and coming out saying, "I've been searching all day, but couldn't find him."
Soul: Ex. If I asked a person to point out a noun on 1 page of a book, is it possible for him to point to a noun? No, that is an impossible task. There are no nouns on the piece of paper there is just ink shaped in a certain way. And that ink shape indicates an ink shape that refers to a noun that itself is not physical.
Romans 1:25 "For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator" Romans 3:11, "There is none who seeks for God" Thus, God must change the disposition of the human heart to willingly seek Him (irresitable grace). If one does believe in the true God by His grace without hearing the Gospel. He "always" provides a messenger. Ex. Acts 10, the proselyte Cornelius and Peter.
Man is without excuse because man "supress the truth" in unrighteousness. (Rom 1:19b). Pagans have an innate knowledge of God's law, (conscience) If there are Moral Laws there must be a Moral Law-Giver because what makes bad, bad and good, good unless there's an ultimate standard of goodness in which one should measure?
cont. "For since the creation of the world His [invisible] attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been [clearly] seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are [without excuse]".
People who have not heard the Gospel will go to hell. Rom 2:12a "For all who have sinned without the Law will also perish without the Law" Rom 2:14 "For when Gentiles who do not have the Law do instinctively the things of the Law, these no having the Law are a law to themselves, v. 15 in that they show that the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them."
You really made a lot of good points and pretty much stated most of the same thoughts I have had on Christianity and religion in general. Always keep an open mind but don't believe everything you hear.
You are the coolest person I've seen on here by far. You wield two of the most powerful weapons ever to be wielded by man, Reason in the right hand and logic in the other.
Once again im a huge fan never stop the movement! religion is pathic and to say a man who believens in god is more happy than a man who dosent is like saying a man who is drunk is more mappy than a non drunk VIVA LA TRUTH!
Michael Champloo, I know what you mean. I once believed that christians were the only happy people in the world. This appeared to be true, but turned out to be an illusion. In those days, most of the time I just hung out with christians.
hot creamy slippery greasy butter cock??? can it produce butter juice?? 50% butter 50% juice?? mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm hot steamy creamy butter sex with lots of butter sauce mmmmmmmmmmmmm be sure to watch cock...the animated series...season 5....and butter the remake
Being raised Christian, people are taught from a very young age to FEAR God. Therefore that FEAR is sort of grafted into people as they mature. So even if that person has a legitimate question, their programming i.e. brainwashing over rules any critical thought because they FEAR the idea of endless unimaginable pain.
muskheli, if Christians follow the New Testament, then why is there an Old testament in the Bible? Also, Jesus said (Although I don't know where and im paraphraseing) You should follow the laws of moses, and isnt moses in the old testament, I think so.
Christians always contradicted themselves when they say they only believe in the New Testament. creation is in the Old Testament, so why the hell do they fight evolution and homosexuality. These same hypocrites use the 23rd Psalms, and love your neighbor as yourself is in the Book of Leviticus.
Alright brother man! I may not agree with everything you said. However your critical thinking and analytical thinking skills are on point. Your beliefs are your precious rights. I wish the Christian community would give up the practice of wishing hell on evryone who has differing beliefs. As a muslim I hear this all too often. Peace from your fellow brother who is also going to hell.
You have one problem, and its simple, you dont understand what it is to be a christian. You are judgeing us by the actions of others and how they apporach christianity. You keep qouting the old testement, and what Jesus did was fulfill it. He suffered for us. AND christians follow the NEW TESTEMENT. TO BE A CHRISTIAN - BE LIKE JESUS. Now if you look indepth into that you will see it is peaceful and righteous.
i dont beileve erthing tha bible says cause god didnt write it himself and give it to me to read.. i dont beileve it all... and mary a virgin? aha No!! lol a lier hehehe
whether it's loony or not a God gives them hope, when they have none left, a GOD who they believe in gives them strength, and if that makes them a better person, if that makes them happy then I'm all for it, You see you may be atheist but you are also empty and confused, which a lot of christians are also but guess what they have an edge on you they believe in a supernatural being that gives them that extra strength to make it when
The bible is basically our police of morality, for all the slayings, confusion, and world chaos that religion has caused, particularly concerning the bible, which is infact the basis for our constitution and laws today, If it wasn't written and we didn't follow it you probably wouldn't be able to say the things that you are saying now. I would say that people need to believe in GOD just as much as GOD needs them,
Since there is no God I guess Martin Luther King was a fool huh, I guess he was a myth too, don't you know because of his relationship with GOD that you have rights that you would not have if he didn't believe in GOD, People turn GOD into whoever they want him to be luckily for us Martin followed the path of the loving merciful GOD .
Christians sanction slavery, so because of God Martin had to fight for his rights. I suppose God cannot make up his mind. He is one way when he is sober and another when he is on crack. Not! This is because humans created God in his or her image.
The bible doesn't add up either.... Infidel guy you make a lot of sense, and I think just like you, but I also think the bible is like a moral guide book instructing us on how to live in this world, though not consistent, and sometimes down right loony,at the very least I think they still tapped into something genius and morally good for us but hey this is man that wrote this and we all know that man is a flawed species.
People believe in God and the bible because they need answers for their existense, they need to make some sense out of life and this world, and evolution doesn't quite add up
"God" hardened the pharoes heart so he wouldn't free the slaves. How do I know that "God" hardened my heart not to believe in him.. not the "devil blinding me"
What does an eternal God have to do with anything created (i.e. not eternal)? I understand how your arguments hold weight when presented toward fundamentalist Christians, but there is a whole world of intelligent theology coming down in disciple succession and texts even more ancient than a Bible or Torah.
And I would agree with some of his points in a Christian context, but although many things are not flat-out explained in intricate depth, they follow in a logical understanding of the theology.
"And if God existed, Christian, He would want me to do this, right? Of course He would, right? Everything happens for a reason." -infidelguy (a response to Heaven and Hell comments)
The implied presumption here is that the reason for "everything" is God's. It is to assume that God created a universe with Himself in mind.
And I don't mean that in a patronizing way Infidelgeezer. I mean it in a 'you kick ass' way. The things that religious fanatics say offend my brain and wander around in my thoughts as weird, ambiguous, unweildy pieces of information. whereas the things you say (and this can be difficult on a subject as, shall we say, 'conceptual' as this) fit in like a perfect jigsaw as they compliment everything brain naturally accepts as truth. You are an inspiration.
I agree wholeheartedly. To have the courage to address what is so interwoven into peoples minds to the point of strong defensive response and argue your points so coherently and with such logical justification is fantastic.
Dig it. However, I knew a woman who blamed the sky fairy when she miscarried. So in this case it goes both ways. Also when loved ones die, plenty of blame for the sky fairy from family members. When that asymmetry of praise/blame shows up is usually with strangers "oh god saved me from that train crash" without mentioning the hundreds of people who god would be equally responsible for killing.
Indeed mate. If God is responsible (with 'His' reasons) for the suffering and unspeakable anguish on Earth, then clearly he is an abomination. The introduction of free will still renders the situation unjust, because Ethiopians don't die of starvation through willpower :P God given 'free will' that makes me able to dismiss 'His' existance through logical thought and evidence allows me to dismiss the idea of 'Him' giving me free will in the first place.
Wow! I like what you're trying to do... Here's a slightly different approach. What if NOW is eternity and we each choose to make our lives what we wish of it? What if what we are doing RIGHT NOW actually matters? What if we could make our lives heaven or hell without having to wait for God to magically wisp and waste all the bad away and transport us to lah-lah forevereverland? Is this part of what you're saying? Hang in there, IG! Don't let the mice on their wheels bore you down!
i was dong some stuff in biology today.. about dna.. and well yeah.. if god is so great that he can make stuff that complicated, why does he care about whether or not his 'creations' love him.. and evn if he does, why not the other creations like deer and cats, which are just as complicated structurally?...
In the Nature report, scientists estimated rice contains 37,544 genes but said that figure will no doubt be revised with further research. Humans, by contrast, have only 20,000 to 25,000 genes!
although I think you're carrying your intellect a stretch (by that I mean as if you are ringing the gong of ultimate truth).. you show reasonable/above average logic, and I commend you for that.
I've seen many arguments against God before and i must say that your arguments have been answered. It's not new.... You got a misconception of what hell is.
OH NOES! UNICORNS ARE NOT 4 REELZ??? LoL... I once asked a Xian why "god" could be real, but unicorns, vampires, and werewolves couldn't. She then argued that it was because "god" had a book. I was like, "WTF, so do unicorns, vampires, and werewolves!" heh...
Good stuff, good stuff, as always.... Wait... Babylon 5?... Awesome!
Fou souls, that is the point to make. Why do brain injuries make a person different. Drugs. Mental diseases. If the soul is so undestroyable then physical changes to a "just an organ" should have no effect in such ways as they do.
I hope some Christian would be able to make a rebuttal video explaining the "soul". I know that as an atheist, I would like to know their explanation of it.
Religion teaches in general to just accept the unproven as truth and attack someone who does not believe in the same "Truth", the bueaty about science is when you are proven wrong, you shake the hand of the man that proved you wrong and thank them for finding the "Real" Truth.
Excellent to hear. You must be a good father. I encourage my kids to ask questions. Hell I ask them questions also. Christianity teaches doctorines that encourage psychotic behaviour. Just take a look at Munchausen's Syndrome for 1.

The Bible says "All have sinned" (Romans 3:23)
EVERYONE-can you honestly say you have never lied or thought any wrong thing ever?
The Bible says that because of sin, we are on our way to Hell-there is nothing we can do to save ourselves.
The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven because he shed his blood for us. (John 14:6, 1 Tim 2:5, Colossians 1:14)
Accept Jesus Christ in your heart as Lord and Saviour, thanking Him for dying for your sins.

ok, no semantics, why would god never ever (and I mean ever) heal or cure an amputee? salomanders can grow new limbs as do starfish, many lizards grow new tails, we have all the infromation within us to grow a new limb (DNA) your god is credited with curing brain tumours, lung cancer ect. but thease are ilnesses that have two out comes, kill you or get better, but surly an all powerful god would once in a while cure a deserving amputee
OldTestTube 4 years ago
As I pointed out lots of people knew the earth was round before the bible said "circle" a soccer ball is either round, spherical or an orb or just ball shaped, you will never hear people say a soccer ball is a circle, how will jesus appear to everyone on earth "from the clouds" at "the same time" if the earth is not flat? Seth had sex with his sister if christians have no trouble with that (because it's in the bible) so would it have been ok for Adam to have sex with his daughter? same logic
OldTestTube 4 years ago
This is the last comment I'm posting to you simply because you are a waste of space. Now, you haven't got back to me over the response to your comment on Daniel 4. Secondly, you have completely switched the subject, a tactic of those who have failed to argue appropriately by talking about healing and amputees.
time4truth 4 years ago
Thirdly, you say people knew what a circle was back then(du'h) but they didn't realise the Earth was circular at that point in time and it was generally considered flat and square (you never gave any evidence on the contrary (ONE BOOK TITLE EVEN!) Now, I am going to respond to all your comments simply to show I have not bowed out without answer.
time4truth 4 years ago
Firstly, I'm not sure what you're getting at with Kings 7:23-I am a statastician, but my other maths is awful-you need to be clear on this-do not assume others understand if you have an esoteric knowledge base. Secondly, you assume we all have the same base DNA-that is true if you're an evolutionist but I am not. Secondly I don't trust scientific theory at all, having an extensive background in psychology and science.
time4truth 4 years ago
Finally, where does it say Jesus will appear to everyone in the clouds? It says in 1 Cor 15 and 1 Thess 4 that we will meet him in the clouds but no where does it say the entire world will see him. FACT-check it for yourself-simply because only Christians will see Jesus at the rapture, but only once we are in the clouds.
time4truth 4 years ago
Secondly, your comment that Seth slept with his sister, so why couldn't adam sleep with his daughter is awful logic as well considering marriage was instituted at the end of Genesis 2 making this an abomination immediately. If your referring to genetics again though, Genesis 6 might shed some light on your other comment. Now, it is time for me to ask questions.
1) GIVE ME ONE CONTRADICTION!
2) GIVE ME THE NAME OF ONE BOOK THAT SHOWS THAT PEOPLE THOUGHT THE WORLD WAS ROUND PRE 15TH CENTURY
time4truth 4 years ago
I took your advice and read a bit more!
Matthew 5:8
"Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them" ..not a dream this time was it?
Isaiah 11:12
"And He will lift up a standard for the nations And assemble the banished ones of Israel, And will gather the dispersed of Judah From the four corners of the earth" ....Hmmm doesn't sound very spherical does it? (also does your circle have corners?)
OldTestTube 4 years ago
I like the fact that you're going away and reading the Bible. Firstly, your reference is from Matthew 4:8 (however that does not affect the validity.) Now, look at this verse: Luke 4:5
"And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time"-now this is the same story-and yet it clearly says that this took place in a moment of time (i.e. they were NOT stationary) thus this sheds light on the apparent flat earth of Matthew 5:8.
time4truth 4 years ago
Your second reference is merely a saying which people continue to use today (and you know it is a saying) The four corners refer to a central point (work that one out.) Yet you STILL haven't given me a contradiction or a verse (in context and in the light of related passages) that say the Earth is flat or square! Interesting hey.
time4truth 4 years ago
Well, the passage I quoted suggests a flat earth (you agree that's why you posted your passage) but your passage can be read to suit both our stand points, so it's hardly a counter point, merely the best interpretation to suit your needs but has no detrimental effect on my interpretation.
"Your second reference is merely a saying which people continue to use today" of course it's a much used figure of speech, but it's origin is obviously the bible (can you give me a book that used it before?)
OldTestTube 4 years ago
No, but lets look at this verse: Isaiah 40:22 "It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth." Consequentially, we find no evidence (that cannot be countered) for your flat/square earth, but the Bible clearly talks about the Circle of Earth.
time4truth 4 years ago

Trying to scan the human body to find the unified body/soul function is like trying to find an invisible man in a house, and coming out saying, "I've been searching all day, but couldn't find him."
uncaused 4 years ago

People who have not heard the Gospel will go to hell.
Steadno 4 years ago
You hit the hammer on the nail. Hopefully, future generations will become more logical and not deal with this religious brainwashing BS.

muskheli, if Christians follow the New Testament, then why is there an Old testament in the Bible? Also, Jesus said (Although I don't know where and im paraphraseing) You should follow the laws of moses, and isnt moses in the old testament, I think so.
Buttzecks 5 years ago
Christians always contradicted themselves when they say they only believe in the New Testament. creation is in the Old Testament, so why the hell do they fight evolution and homosexuality. These same hypocrites use the 23rd Psalms, and love your neighbor as yourself is in the Book of Leviticus.

Alright brother man! I may not agree with everything you said. However your critical thinking and analytical thinking skills are on point. Your beliefs are your precious rights. Peace from your fellow brother who is also going to hell.
rayburne 5 years ago
You have one problem, and its simple, you dont understand what it is to be a christian. You are judgeing us by the actions of others and how they apporach christianity. You keep qouting the old testement, and what Jesus did was fulfill it. He suffered for us. AND christians follow the NEW TESTEMENT. TO BE A CHRISTIAN - BE LIKE JESUS. Now if you look indepth into that you will see it is peaceful and righteous.

whether it's loony or not a God gives them hope, when they have none left, a GOD who they believe in gives them strength, and if that makes them a better person, if that makes them happy then I'm all for it, You see you may be atheist but you are also empty and confused, which a lot of christians are also but guess what they have an edge on you they believe in a supernatural being that gives them that extra strength to make it when
hailwillis 5 years ago
The bible is basically our police of morality, for all the slayings, confusion, and world chaos that religion has caused, particularly concerning the bible, which is infact the basis for our constitution and laws today, If it wasn't written and we didn't follow it you probably wouldn't be able to say the things that you are saying now. I would say that people need to believe in GOD just as much as GOD needs them,
hailwillis 5 years ago
Since there is no God I guess Martin Luther King was a fool huh, I guess he was a myth too, don't you know because of his relationship with GOD that you have rights that you would not have if he didn't believe in GOD, People turn GOD into whoever they want him to be luckily for us Martin followed the path of the loving merciful GOD .
hailwillis 5 years ago
Christians sanction slavery, so because of God Martin had to fight for his rights. I suppose God cannot make up his mind. He is one way when he is sober and another when he is on crack. Not! This is because humans created God in his or her image.
connerjd 4 years ago
The bible doesn't add up either.... Infidel guy you make a lot of sense, and I think just like you, but I also think the bible is like a moral guide book instructing us on how to live in this world, though not consistent, and sometimes down right loony,at the very least I think they still tapped into something genius and morally good for us but hey this is man that wrote this and we all know that man is a flawed species.
hailwillis 5 years ago
People believe in God and the bible because they need answers for their existense, they need to make some sense out of life and this world, and evolution doesn't quite add up

What does an eternal God have to do with anything created (i.e. not eternal)? I understand how your arguments hold weight when presented toward fundamentalist Christians, but there is a whole world of intelligent theology coming down in disciple succession and texts even more ancient than a Bible or Torah.
amjiva 5 years ago
maybe so, but is he talking about said texts?
sinroe 5 years ago

TearTheRoofOff 5 years ago
Dig it. However, I knew a woman who blamed the sky fairy when she miscarried. So in this case it goes both ways. Also when loved ones die, plenty of blame for the sky fairy from family members. When that asymmetry of praise/blame shows up is usually with strangers "oh god saved me from that train crash" without mentioning the hundreds of people who god would be equally responsible for killing.
bassandit 5 years ago
Indeed mate. If God is responsible (with 'His' reasons) for the suffering and unspeakable anguish on Earth, then clearly he is an abomination. The introduction of free will still renders the situation unjust, because Ethiopians don't die of starvation through willpower :P God given 'free will' that makes me able to dismiss 'His' existance through logical thought and evidence allows me to dismiss the idea of 'Him' giving me free will in the first place.
TearTheRoofOff 5 years ago

Religion teaches in general to just accept the unproven as truth and attack someone who does not believe in the same "Truth", the bueaty about science is when you are proven wrong, you shake the hand of the man that proved you wrong and thank them for finding the "Real" Truth.
