  • i wish they would of went with a 5.7 on the GT500 instead of 5.4L. the gt500 would be a beast.

  • Yea build the motor and twin turbo or nitrous the zo6 and your terminator would get terminated 03machwon. Weight makes a hell of a difference.

  • Those GTOs had to be the ls1 GTOs cuz I have an o2 camaro with the ZO6 motor and only beat the LS2 GTO by 3 cars...

  • Switched to Mustangs years ago. 4.6L is a wonderful engine when you add loads of BOOST. Stock they BLOW but when you add another 15-20 grand and revamp everything they are great to drive loads power good on gas. The Newer mustangs look awesome from the outside when modified but inside the look and feel is crap. also they are portly pigs. i get 24 mpg and 28 mpg on trips with 400 rwhp (this week)

  • The GTO in itself is not a BAD car it was just the right thing needed at the time and the price was not bad either considering the 335HP ram air TA were $34,000 back in 2002 so a $27,000 2006 400HP LS2 6 speed is a great bargain. However they should never have given it the GTO name they should have released it as a Pontiac Holden mark V or something. Remember the 1985 or so chevy NOVA that came with a 3 cylinder engine??? GM makes a lot of stupid mistakes.

  • If it appears that I am a fan of the GTO I am not I personally think it is a heavy 2 door Australian family sedan that someone put a great drive train into and some moron in GM decided to desecrate the GTO heritage by simply applying badges and decals to a Australian built holden instead of designing a new GTO from the ground up.

  • A twin turbo set up and tune would net around 1200 hp to the rear wheels and cost around 13,000 and bring the dollar investment of the GTO around $40,000 still a lot less then even a base model coupe let alone a Z06. Evidently the You Tube peanut gallery does not know jack about cars.

  • yeah a stock corvette will get you in the mid 12's. Not no stock 6.0 GTO. They are heavier then the corvettes and only hit 13's. But yes, i would rather have a vette then any other

  • I dont know where your getting your trans-ams from. My uncle purchased one in '02 with 2K miles for only $23K (6 speed too!). Ran a 13.7 BONE STOCK on street tires

  • Yeah? 13.7 stock on street tires was fast about a decade ago. And yes that is what 335 HP in stock trim will get you but GTO LS2 and corvette LS2 in stock trim with stock tires are in the mid 12's. 13.7 to 12.5 is a big difference.

  • Z06 is wicked fast but when you are looking at $78,000 dollar sticker price that some dealerships will not sell unless you grease the wheels of progress another $2000 or more you are no longer talking about American muscle within the reach of the common mortal. Better to buy a GTO or 3V mustang and bolt on a pair of turbos to the tune of 800 plus HP

    Stock z06 is yuppie play toy a true gear head would have ported heads full bolt ons and tons of mods. warranty be dammed.

  • poor GTO's. They are WAY overrated and over priced.

  • Friend purchased a 400 HP 6 speed GTO 2006 coupe for $27,000 new with 3 miles on odometer.

    Ram air trans-ams in 2002 were going for $34,000 plus and only had around 335 HP.

    Explain to me over rated? GTO with automatic is a sacrilege and no comparison to stick unless modified (tranny that is)
