I have to slightly disagree about Pocky and rocky's wacky humor,the goemon games have way more bizzare off the wall humor than the kikikaikai series,especially the later games,where else would you see a game where a blue haired ninja like goemon to piolet giant robots in feudal japan,plus the 4th ganbare goemon game for the super famicom had sports involved.lol

@ChronoArcAile3000 I agree with ya in this. Pocky & Rocky is very japanese-styled, and so was Legend Of Mystical Ninja in it's older days. But later on (starting from Ganbare Goemon 2) the series became to stray away from it's context for humor. (-lvl-)

pretty much.lol The Goemon continued to get weirder and weirder with each sequel after that.lol the older games portrayed goemon as a normal nobel theif than the later games portrayed him as a typical "Save the world from Evil" type of hero.

Um, It's just funny to think about a demon fighting Shinto priestess that dies a Jewish/Christian angel, and I wonder if the developers thought about that when they did these animations. I've been so used to the icon of people that die as angels, especially in vid games, that I didn't think about the possible connotations of it here till recently.

But apart from that, I do believe there are actually a few people in Japan that practice Shinto and Christianity together, in varying degrees anyway.

I think the creators Natsume wanted to up the diabetic cute factor. That's what I love about Chibi characters, they're just so cute, speak in a squeaky voice, turn into magical kittens. What can possibly be cuter than a little kid turning into an angel to offset that her mortal body is full of claw and bite marks, and profusely bleeding. Or worse yet the demons had their way with her. Demons tend to do that to innocent and pure.... Would you rather see THAT ending for her?or the cute angel one?

She could have just disappeared in poof of smoke, or risen as a cute little hitodama, or just started crying. There are many cute ways to "die" that they had to choose from.

You're right though, in the end it's about the cute, but I like to imagine Natsume had a nice round table discussion on the topic before they decided on the angel sprite. Other game characters have also died as angels, but they weren't necessarily tied to a specific religious theme, such as Bang from Clash at Demonhead.
