  • i think everyone misunderstands gould. He respected music, his opinions do not influence how he plays.

that is like a kid throwing a tantrum.. he does not.

  • @odiumimbues everyone misunderstands him except you - because you knew him personally your whole life and were his closest friend and soulmate

  • @kirinlager49 yup cause I said that. Well I will be here if you read what i wrote correctly. I can't really add on to that energy stealing comment.

  • @odiumimbues "He respected music" - I can't thank you enough for your valuable and indispensable contributions to this comment board.

  • @kirinlager49 yw.

  • "2st" movement . . seriously ??

  • Amazing

  • Its not "gossip". Gould's dislike for this piece is well documented. I have his recording of it on LP, and he wrote the jacket notes, most of which are dedicated to his explanation of why he believes that this sonata is an uninspired failure. The same comments are reproduced in the book "Conversations With Glenn Gould".

  • 2st doesn't exist

  • The gossip is that Gould did not like this piece, or Beethoven for that matter. If Gould wanted to trivialize this sonata I would think he would go very quickly through it, minimizing the beauy. The shading and slow thoughtfulness suggests Gould had affection for this piece.
