Danny Elfman is THE person out of all films gave this hero an epic identity. I could say that he's likely the one person who truly amplified the Spiderman hero outside of Stan Lee the creator, even if just through music.

Out of the fun campy theme songs of 60s version of Batman and Spiderman, he gave them the EPIC TREATMENT unlike any composer ever could.

One of Danny Elfman's best themes, and probably just one of the reasons the movie was so great. Batman (1989) and Batman 2 (1992) were also movies that did much better because of the music. Think what those movies would've been like without music. However, editing does wonders... even good actors produce too many lines in movies... without someone to cut out all the fluff, the movie would lose its impact. Music is the same. Keep it simple.

It gives me determination to face the pains and difficulties of life; which by their very presence define happiness and glory. Elfman is a master, and that phrase perfectly captures Spiderman's plight in that he will sacrifice everything to do good, and risk losing those he loves.

I'm still stunned and saddened by the reboot (seriously, it's one of the biggest movie series of all time, and everyone was game for a fourth film... what are they thinking?), but I'll always have the trilogy (and this marvelous theme!) to watch and fondly remember as a big part of the reason I got into filmmaking! Finally got around to ordering the trilogy on Blu-Ray... I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival!

Problem of this theme is its very complexity : you can hum star wars them , indiana jones theme , batman theme , godfather theme,etc. They have a gimmick .Those character could be announced with the first notes of their theme . Everyone knows them . it that's what make them mythical . This theme indeed hints at a lot (birth , rise , failure , sadness , heroism )but for this very reason fails to really pin point spiderman. It's an excellent theme but not mythical . Simple is beautiful .

to me this theme perfectly captured the wonder, sadness, the angst, the joy, and the heroism that is all a part of the spider-man story. The theme makes you feel like peter has to make real hard choices and find the power to survive which makes him a hero. Yet, it's all so bitter-sweet. The violins and noises remind me of a spider's web if it could be plucked. Just a really subtle but amazing theme. Elfman hit it on the nail.
