  • I'm thinking to buy the reverse headstock edition of this guitar

  • so noted white man

  • He is so right.

  • I agree with him completely! I revere all sorts of music. Classical, heavy metal, thrash metal, folk metal, folk, country, bluegrass, melodic death metal, jazz, punk, rock, and such. I just hate pop, rap, r&b, techno, screamo, and whatever is electronic.

  • jeff's versitility is what makes him so damn great

  • One question guys..I'm new to Annihilator, and I just checked their line-up(s).

It seems, tat this band had manyer men in it,than they had women in their beds..

Anyhow,is this the guy,in the Fly Virgin shirt,in the Alison Hell video?

  • @jerhinus Yep, that's him.

  • one thing i would say, actually nothing to do with the guitar...get rid of that silly beard jeff!

  • although Kerry King is the worst lead guitar player in history but great rhythm

  • @vibonacci I think that Trey Azaghthoth is the same way lol

  • @venpresath Yeah, especially trey, hes a good rhythm player but shit, how can people go "Woow, that solo is so intense"? Its like random guitar picking and whammypulls.

  • Great advise. really think about this.. don't limit your taste because you think you can't tell your jazz buddies you like Kerry King

  • Young Guitars,... lol

  • Liona Boyd - Parranda, this would make a killer melody in a heavy metal song.

  • Basically he is just trying to say that he is better than his friends

  • he's totaly right....great guitar player and great guy

  • its so wierd that he grew up listening to steve , keep forgetting hes still quite young :)

Means he'll be around for long enough for everyone to see his greatness .

  • why is rap legal in your country dude?

  • great advice, i thought it was gonna be shit...

  • He looks better with a goatee

  • he also didn't mention Jazz or Blues... but he's still a nice guy x)

  • @Mighselph he did, listen at 1:04...

  • @metallica5252 you're right! I missed it :)

It's so cool to watch this guy on "Live at Masters of Rock"... He plays everything so easily and yet precise and groovy...

  • @Mighselph ya he's insane

  • he looks like jesus here.... O_o

  • @thatkindofguy234

    He IS Jesus.

  • @Tiberiusize No one knows what Jesus looked like :) Or if he even ever has existed

  • so thats why this guy fucken rules

  • I'd like to hear Jeff jam with Tommy Vetterli from Coroner, that'd be some king shiznit.

  • Excelent advice!, I'm 100% agree with Jeff

  • i've the same thoughts about music and playing guitar, thats why i think Jeff Waters is an excelent musician :D

  • Fucking right, i do the same and i learn a lot

  • Arguing is for fucking oafs, lol.

We didn't come here to see you bitches, argue like women, we went here to comment about Jeff Water's advice.

But to make a quick point, there are truths in lies, and lies in truths. Who cares about being right?

  • i guess that explains why every song and about from his first album to his latest all sound different, each with different sounds. mass majority is thrash but he does plenty of groove, progressive, speed, regular heavy metal, metal mix with jazz and blues and some metal with pop elements, and parts of the riff sounds alittle death metal. man jeff waters does it all, its no wander why he's such a great guitar player, he listens to many and he makes his own style in accordance to all music

  • why the fuck would jeff waters listen to kerry king ?

  • I love how he shows the playing styles of Malmsteen, Vai and Van Halen by his gestures :D:D

  • @Lovemetallica93 Now that you mentioned it, it's hilarious :D

  • @flibo Yeah, it's fuckin hilarious :D I watched this scene like 10 times. Especially "Van Halen", when he taps a bit :D

  • Chuck Norris + Jesus = Jeff Waters

  • Jeff Waters, Jeff Loomis, Jeff Beck... I'll have myself renamed...

  • 1:15 He looks like Jesus! ;)

  • Wicked geetar, awesome head stock!

  • What he said comes form a true musician and music appreciator!

I must check Annihilator's discography! It has got to be as much inspiring as these words!

  • @GrimSlayer86 deffinetely should. i would start with alice in hell album first, great thrasher album then never neverland and after king of the kill. everything else id good too but those 3 albums are killer.

  • @GrimSlayer86 Check Refresh The Demon too, all the album rocks, especially the 1st song. But be careful about their modern stuff, some are really bad (All for you --> what the f****** f*** ??). Anyway, this band is still one of my fav, this guy rocks hell, and live, it's pure energy. Love them.

  • At the end his face made me think of Fernando Torres - strange 'cos they don't look alike when you think about it.

  • 1:12 .....the killing stare of JEFF NORRIS!!!!

  • Alice in HELL!!!

  • Chuck Waters :D

  • @CaptainTaelos did anybody else look at this comment and think Chuck Schuldiner before chuck norris?

  • Good advice Jeff, that´s what I think too

  • What a nice guy.

  • sounds a little like chuck too

  • sometimes when i play my own guitar and i go to my friend's house to play, and we just do some riffs on HIS guitar....i SUCK

  • a very good advice! thumbs up here

  • Jeff is a nice dude.

  • There is just one kind of music... just music, and that was a really good advice

  • Man all i have to say that without me learning blues at the beginning i would not be able to play none of rock or metal, especially solos

  • This is a message to all those people who try to be ''Tr000'' to much....

  • @slayerguy51 Yea I was kinda like that... I use to shove off Power metal and call it gay... Till I heard stratovarius play a guitar...

  • @supmayne1 Well i admit that there is alot of power metal that indeed sounds gay but then you still got the likes of Iced Earth,Blind Guardian,Pyramaze,Persuader,Helloween and such

  • Sounds like when he was young all his friends were really good at guitar

  • Jeff has a point! Expanding my musical taste and listening to a lot of guitarists have helped me to improve my style in guitar playing over the years.

  • I'm confused, Jeff said to listen to different genre's and not just metal. However Marty Friedman (Ex-MegadetH) said to focus on the genre of music that you like to listen to and just concentrate on that specific genre. There's an interview with him saying that look it up.

  • @JacksonX94 do as you wish but i think jeff´s way is better because even in metal if you use influence from other geners of music it will be musicaly richer and with more vareity sorry for my english

  • It's so funny, how he is nudeling around, while saying "Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai or Eddie Van Halen" :D:D

  • Canadian accent for the win!

  • advice huh? I dont think I heard any right there.

  • @HorrorAngel666 i think it was , in order to get your own style you have to mix them all and then mix you with them.

if im wrong tellme plz peace :D

  • @ metalyourmom, indeed:) everybody who thinks their "true" is an idiot

  • Wise man indeed.

  • I think I saw his eyes shape-shift at the end there, but its good advice. LoL.

  • That is probably the smartest thing I've heard from a metal artist ever. Most metalheads aren't very open to any other types of music, and that kind of pisses me off. If you listen to multiple types of music, you will start to grow a wide range. I know I am. I listen to everything, and I've noticed that I have a wide range in singing already, and I'm only fifteen. So believe it or not, metalheads, but if you listen to more than just metal, it will help your dream come true.

  • WORD

  • To see Jeff Waters' new Gibson and Epiphone Guitars, go to the GIBSON GUITAR web site!

  • you should listen to the man! Cause Jeff always practices what he preaches!! (wtf?!!)

  • that fade out was pro...

  • anyone notice he didnt mention rap? haha rap sucks

  • thats because he was only mentioning music, and we all know that rap is not music

  • @xDoctorKlockx haha true

  • @xDoctorKlockx not true

alot of old rap is music, it had a good message and a good show

but crap like lil wayne is NOT music

  • @IbanezSlipknot245 ... how many rap guitarists do you know?

  • @brooklynstudio none lol

  • @IbanezSlipknot245 thats why he didnt mention rap...

  • @brooklynstudio just listen to body count, anything can be played.just b/c something is rap doesn't mean u can't jam to it,hell if u can jam to rap then u can play just about any damn thing.

  • @MrSFblack i jam to old school hip hop and soul all the time, it's great. a good portion of the new era rap and some gangster rap is something I usually don't shoot for when jamming out. Won't say I'll never try though

  • Trivium666..

    black people speak.

    black people talk.

speak and talk are interchangable. yes, his sentence is a mess, but either word would work if it was written properly.

  • why is every1 talkin bout black people...........jeff waters is beautiful:P

  • Damn right he is!!!!!!

  • Gotta love the actions he does for each person.

  • good advice. Although what he is saying sounds incredibly obvious, he is right... the vast majority of people listen to only one genre of music. It's sad, and it sucks when you are looking to join a band made of like-minded musicians.

  • He looks like chuck norris!

  • @ticosexy22

and like jesus !! xD 1:12

  • Chuck Norris looks like him

Deep down chuck norris models himself after Waters

  • That was a perfect Chuck Norris look at the end there.

  • @ticosexy22 But he looks BETTER than Chuck)

  • @ticosexy22 dude that was my first thought no wonder why he's so awsome

  • @ticosexy22 yeah,with long hair : D

  • @ticosexy22 CHUCK NORRIS LOOKS LIKE HIM

  • @ticosexy22 Nop, more likely Christian Bale or Don Johnson

  • @ticosexy22 he is chuck norris

  • @ticosexy22 Everyone who kicks ass enough starts to look like that.

  • @ticosexy22 no chuck norris looks like HIM

  • @ticosexy22 wtf, he IS chuck norris.

  • holy shite! 300 400 guitar players! that's a lot of riffage.

  • Jeff touched my penis.

  • You understand we're now jealous? ^^

  • I like this advice. I got that same advice when I was 11 and learning from a guitar teacher. She was in her 70's and she listened from Ritchie Valens to Trivium. It was awesome.

  • It would be awesome if Trivium didnt suck cock

  • @supmayne1

    Your name is "supmayne1."

    >>"supmayne"

You read that? That's proof you're retarded.

  • DAYUM NICE ONE .....

Make fun of my name that makes fun of black people talk...

Shit im sorry I messed with a poser like you

  • @supmayne1

"Make fun of my name that makes fun of black people talk..."

    >>"makes fun of black people talk..."

    >>"black people talk..."

Apparently, you can't speak English. Yup. You're retarded.

  • Lol wow you are a dumbass ... that makes perfect sense

    Black people talk

    The way black people talk

If you can not understand that

Then you sir are a fuckin retard

And thanks for those quotes man

I did forget what I typed

  • @supmayne1

"[B]lack people speak," you fucking idiot.

    Pay attention: "black people speak."

Read it again: "black people speak."

Do you understand the English language?

As for the quotes, when you learn how to speak it correctly(not "talk"), then I'll assume you actually remembered what you typed. But, obviously, you're retarded. So, I won't expect you to remember how to wipe your own ass, let alone what you typed.

  • That still doesnt change the fact that Trivium suck...

When you argue with people remember to stay on topic

  • @supmayne1

"That still doesnt change the fact that Trivium suck..."

    "Trivium suck..."

    "(singular subject) (plural verb)."

    Interesting.

You said "It would be awesome if Trivium didnt suck cock."

I didn't argue that. I said that I could tell you were a retard, so your comment was invalid. I'm STILL proving that you're a retard, so your argument is STILL invalid. I haven't changed topics. Are you SURE you understand English?

  • And it is not like I am going to become a fuckin writer so why would I even care??

My point doesnt change if I forget to capitalize

And what just because my grammer isnt up to par I fail to understand english?

Nice try but your points have been misproven... I do infact understand english or else I wouldnt be able to reply back

  • @supmayne1

The failure of grammar in this last post was so bad that I could almost feel the failure floating around you.

My points haven't been "misproven" because "misproven" isn't a word. "Infact" isn't, either.

    HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

You might understand MY English, but you're still retarded. My point still stands.

    HAHAHAHAAHA "misproven" hahahahahaha

  • @trivium666fan I know what you do. You try to make a big deal out of people's grammar because you can't defend yourself in any other part of the argument. Trivium fucking sucks dick. Go ahead, correct my grammar.

  • @dakotadmh62

Hey, look! It's someone who tries to make some sort of claim about someone else's discussion, without knowing what an argument is. If you KNEW what an argument is, then you would realize that there is no argument here. In fact, "Trivium sucks," or "Trivium fucking sucks," or "Trivium fucking sucks dick," isn't an argument, just a claim. That's about 5% of anything that is a valid argument. Learn something before you think you can make some sort of claim about someone's character.

  • @trivium666fan You have just proven my point. Arguments start by making claims, you see? Trivium is in fact a terrible band who can barely play their instruments, and must steal riffs from metal legends. *Cough* Testament *Cough*.

By the way: You replied pretty quickly. Maybe you should think of getting some fresh air?

  • @trivium666fan You have just proven my point. Arguments start by making claims, you see? Trivium is in fact a group of terrible musicians who can barely play their instruments, and have to steal riffs from metal legends. *Cough* Testament *Cough*.

By the way: You replied to my comment pretty quickly. I suggest that you stop playing 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' (Yes, I looked at your channel.) and get some fresh air. Also, you may want to read a book or two.

  • @dakotadmh62

Actually, I was in class when I responded. Arguments DO start by making a claim, but that's no argument. Any intelligent person would know that. Just so you know, I own over 400 books, from Chuck Palahniuk, to Duncan Pritchard, to Richard Dawkins. Of course, I own classics like Dante's Inferno as well, but I also own plenty of text books, including argument. You made no argument, just claims. Claims aren't even 5% of an argument. I didn't prove any point bc you didn't make 1.

  • @trivium666fan Actually I made my point very clear. Maybe you should go back and read my previous comments. And yes, I was making a claim to open up the argument with you. Maybe you should have read my comments twice?

Also, your channel makes you sound stupid. 'blah blah blah books are stupid'

Stop playing Yu-Gi-Oh!, you nerd, get a girlfriend, move out of your mom's basement, and grow a pair of testicles. Misinformed scum.

  • @dakotadmh62

  • And you're right, my channel does make me sound stupid. Does it matter? No. Why? Because it's not meant for social networking. It's meant to be a generic channel that I created so that I could post comments on videos. But that's completely besides the point.

I'm better informed than you, and ad hominem attacks make you seem like you have a dick lodged in your ass.

  • @trivium666fan Actually my friend, you AREN'T better informed than me. You are blinded by the mainstream bullshit. You are a fan of 'Trivium', and you are obviously musically retarded. Are you going to defend your love for Trivium? I made my claim, lets debate. (Also dick lodged in ass insult; VERY MATURE. You've only succeeded in making yourself look like more of a fool than before.)

  • @dakotadmh62

... Says the guy started commenting on something that had no connection to him whatsoever with "Trivium fucking sucks dick. " I refuse to debate someone who obviously hasn't studied enough logic, in practice or computing, or studied argumentation, or even advocacy, to understand what fallacies are, and how littered their comments are with nothing that can have any sort of proper response to "debate" about. If you'd at least refrained from informal fallacies, I'd give a response.

  • @trivium666fan We all know that you've just wasted your time typing that whole thing. Its bullshit. The truth is that you've nothing good to say about Trivium that won't be picked apart by me. I would simply ravage you in the argument. And actually, I was tempted to respond to you because, you were defeated in an argument but as a last resort tried to insult someones grammar in the hopes that you could win the argument.

  • @dakotadmh62

There was no argument. If you knew anything about argumentation, you'd realize that. But you obviously don't. Read Introduction to Logic by Irving Copi. Or, Critical Thinking by Jason McFaul, specifically chapters 3, 5, 7 and 9. If you want to talk about musical talent, how about the fact that I liked Trivium well before they were "big," and well before I got this account. They are recognized as extremely talented world-wide, and by huge names like Black Sabbath, and King Diamond.

  • @trivium666fan Trivium is not talented. They are just a group of kids who got lucky and wrote a catchy riff. Then the mainstream metal took their name and made them big. NONE of their songs are technical. Easy pentatonic scales, blah blah blah. You most likely don't even play guitar, and I'm absolutely positive that I could outplay you, in sound and in technical difficulty. Your page says you're in high school and your STILL playing with Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. HAHAHA. Wow dude, gain maturity.

  • @dakotadmh62

Actually, if you'd listen to any of their music, you'd see that it's well more than just pentatonic scales, but I figure you only used that argument assuming that I've never studied any music.

Honestly, can't you tell that, since I uploaded videos about YuGiOh, that's no where near an insult to me?

As for what my age is, my education, etc, assume what you will from a page that was made in 2006. But that might just show who's the mature one in the conversation.

  • @trivium666fan hahahaha. You're obviously an idiot. They have NO technicality in their songs. Yes, the fact that you're still in high school and play YuGiOh makes you a fucking loser. I'm also positive that if it came down to it, I could destroy you in real life, and on the guitar. You're a keyboard warrior and nothing more.

  • @dakotadmh62

Actually, no. I know for a fact that they have technicality in their songs and anyone who studies music will agree. Your ad hominem attacks show that you're probably, what, a college drop out who thinks they are better than others because everyone who graduates is a "tool?" Did I hit the nail on the head?

Yeah, making $1200 a month off of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards makes me such a loser. Whatever. Like I said, that's no insult to me, so go ahead and keep spewing all the fallacies you want.

  • LOL!!!!

  • Annihilator has no attention in the metal sceen. That's retarded, their music is such high quality, he's a phenominal guitar player. I'm ordering an Alica in Hell shirt.

  • *Alice

  • Wow, this guy is like me. :) Except for the phenomenal guitar skills that is. :(

  • @Jokecomics4002 yeah who says you have to stick to one genre :P

  • There you have it.

If you like a genre of music, you can listen to it if you want to; even if you like metal.

Don't agree-you're disagreeing with one of the best guitarists in the metal world who got where he is by listening to all different kinds of music.

  • My favorite is thrash. (Megadeth has been my fav for years) But I really like all types of metal, some Rock/jazz and even Rap/Hip-Hop!! (But mostly Horrocore Rap)

  • Great advice... From Rock and roll to whatever, that will expand your mind to creativity...

  • umm, i am willing to bet hes a lot better than you, jackass

  • Great, i'll put up a 100. Got paypal?

  • umm i bet you didn't check that "jackass's" video.

Well I'm not saying who is better, but he can shred

  • lol hes probably a lot better than what u think

  • Jeff looks like Jesus.

  • Yeah he is Jesus but in Cool ^^

  • he is really wise

  • coudnt agree more ! i love from jazz to thrash and death and grind and punk

  • yep...he sure is the chuck norris of guitar. kinda looks like him here too with the beard and all:D

  • yeah im a crazy thrash metal fan but i also like classical music too beethoven ROCKS!!! lol

  • 0:48 hes got a different fretting hand position for each player. funny.

  • notice the "eddie van halen..." *tap*

  • Yeah. Thats funny stuff.

  • I prefer thrash and death metal music, bands like slayer, cannibal corpse, morbid angel...but I also like depeche mode, the doors and johnny cash!

  • As much as I love Thrash and Metal, I also listen pop (depending artist and guitarist) to like Alternative, and other stuff. I haven't gotten much into Jazz, probably will/hopfully sometime in the future, same as with other music.

  • In the way of jazz, (fusion) Get Jeff Becks album "Wired". It was done back in 76 so it's old news...but "everyone" should have "Wired" in their collection. Thoroughly the most kick ass work of fusion. Save your lunch money for a week and Get That Cd!!

  • Or get some of Chris Poland's solo albums or the work with his band Ohm. Truely amazing.

  • @CluelessNameless same mate, maybe not as much pop although i love the blues and soul to death and thrash

  • True!

  • bsides metal y like classical music spanish music bossa nova jazz blues indie rock and alternative

  • He is totaly right. The more guitarists you listen, the faster you'll find your own style. Keep digging on Malmsteen and Van Halen or whatever and you'll only get to sound like them.

  • this is great for some "METALHEADS" who think they cannot listen anything without metal at the end

  • My other favorite genre's are Jazz, Blues, Soul, Classical, and Spanish music.

  • Exactly

  • @MetalyourMom

Except the only guitarist he mentioned not involved in hard rock is Al Di Meola.

  • @MetalyourMom ohmygawd thankyou, jeff waters.

  • Hey x666xGamer, I admire your bottle..lol Anyway at least we agree that Vai is god and that is good enough for me. As for abcdefghijklmxyz , go get your boyfriend to fuck some sense into you..lol

  • i just listen to metal and hendrix

  • thats something every "thrash till death" people should learn

  • second that

  • i think what he just sed what very wise, caus he's right.Manny kids and peaple are mainstream and listen to only metal or rock. You've got to open your mind for lots of things and then you devellope your very own and unique style.

annyways, very good vid i've enjoyed it:)

5/5 for doing what he does
