  • Just bought the same motor.. currently working on a rebuild. Hopefully I'll be able to post a video in the two weeks of it running... HOPEFULLY.

  • I got the same exact boat, with a johnson 1975, but my motor wont start very easily, nice boat u got your duracraft set up like i want mine.

  • was just wondering if u were at full throttle with the motor. i have a 14ft v-bottom as well. there is a video of mine on here too, check it out

  • was just wondering if u were at full throttle with that. i have a 14ft v bottom as well with same motor on mine. have a video of it on here, check it out

  • The boat is still stable but you have to be more careful when you are standing all the way in the front. I think its because the vee bottom is so steeply pitched clear at the front it can get a little wobblely, but you have to really lean over to make the boat get leaning. Over all I'm real happy with it, its a great fishing boat.

  • How stable is the boat if you are standing on the front casting deck? I am looking to do the same thing to my boat but am worried about how tippy it will be.

  • I have a similar year johnson 40hp on the back of my 14 ft aluminum. I'm sure mine has a much better holeshot, but i doubt it has much more top end. Very nice set-up you've got there. Carb cleaner has been my best friend with my motor. My motor had been sitting mostly unused except for one use every year. It was given to me. NOTHING wrong with it! A little carb cleaner and she runs great. It always starts on the first or second pull. Gotta love those older 2-strokes.

  • Yeah, the holeshot of this motor is OK. It's really not super quick out of the hole but the boat is somewhat heavy with flooring and gear. I did take all of the weight out of the boat one time with just myself, motor, and gas tank and man was that wild. It was pretty squirrelly but it jumped on plane in an instant.

  • Yeah i think i'll be looking for a different prop. I'm willing to sacrifice my holeshot for some more top end. I think it has a different prop than the stock one since the motor was used on a boat used for transporting large amounts of stuff. On a 14ft aluminum, i should be getting upper 30's+ with a 40hp, i'm only getting lower 30's with not much in the boat.

  • Yeah I bought this engine on another boat and sold the boat and trailer. I just wanted the engine. I am really pleased on the condition of the motor. It was painted at one time because the color is more robin egg blue than it should be and I found some overspray. But all and all its a great motor. Thanks for watching!

  • Smooth Operator!
