@123MrBubblez. If you had been thru what I have been thru-and had God in his awesome power And grace work in your life what he did in mine-You would have no doubt about his existence. Having faith in him Is his permissiom to work the supernatural in your life. My testimony would blow your mind! A complete stranger-not At church-knew I was going to get the Holy Ghost the night i did.
@123mrbubblez. Jesus IS real and he did die for us and walked this earth again. Read the book The Case for Christ. Lee strobel set out to prove Jesus wasn't real and instead found out he was-and that he was God made flesh. If you invite his Holy spirit in-you will know he is real. There is joy unspeakable and peace beyond words.
@123MrBubblez While I appreciate your point of view, I have reason to believe God is real. If it turns out He isn't, I won't regret for a moment having lived my life believing He is. If it turns out He is, do you think you will regret that you missed out on eternal life unnecessarily?
I'll agree that much in the history of professed Christianity is horrible, but if there is in enemy called Satan, wouldn't you think he'd do his very best to infiltrate the church, and even take it over if he could, and do all he could to make it seem as if faith in God is a joke at best and a cruel hoax at worst? God's true church is not always seen at its best in the organizations that call themselves the church, but there is ample evidence of God's power in the changed lives of believers.
@guitmartiman what really gets me with people who are religious is the fact that they're always trying to convert people to their religion. The catholic chruch and christian are all about accepting, but only if you believe in their god. If you dont, you go to hell are burn. That's where i draw the line and say bullshit! :)
@123MrBubblez If the popular doctrine of hell is what bothers you, it may interest you to know the Bible doesn't teach that unrepentant sinners will live forever in a place called hell. The most popular verse in the Bible teaches that those who do not believe will "perish" (John 3:16). They "shall be as though they had not been" (Obadiah 16). Yes, they will have to face the judgment after the thousand years (See Revelation 20), and receive the just reward of their sins, but in the end...
@123MrBubblez (continued) they will be cast into the lake of fire and be "burned up" (Malachi 4:1-3). God is not vindictive as some (especially Satan) would have you believe. He takes "no pleasure in the death of the wicked" (Ezekiel 33:11).
If you choose not to believe, then all you're doing is rejecting God's love and willingness to forgive you. If you do that, He has no choice but to allow you to suffer the consequences of your own sin, which is ultimately eternal death or annihilation.
@guitmartiman how can you believe in something with no proof? just because someone wrote something down in a book it becomes real? You honestly believe jesus died and then ressurected 3 days later? That to me is immpossible. When you die, there is no heaven or hell, only darkness. Your done, your dead. End of story. All this bullshit about a heaven is all just talk, no proof. Im a person of science, not religion.
Thanks, Ed. It's kind of amazing to me that this song was sort of an after-thought. I was making a scripture song tape back in the late eighties. I was trying to fill up a sixty minute tape. When I had recorded everything I had planned to include, I realized there was still enough room at the end of the tape for another short song, but I didn't have another one. So I thought, "hmmm, Gen. 3:15 would make a good scripture song. And the rest, as they say....
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I guess it is kind of nerdy, but my primary purpose for writing scripture songs is for memorization, and it's always nice to be able to quote chapter and verse.
Actually no, that's why it translates well to other languages. Instead of rhyming, Hebrew poetry is written generally in couplets of parallel thoughts or opposing thoughts. For instance, "Wine is a mocker, and strong drink is raging. Whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise." Two parallel thoughts "wine is..." and "strong drink is ... and then a conclusion.
yes God is real.when he comes again he WILL chose the blessed to go with hm,and leave the rest to suffer.

I love the songs because they are the words of god. And no man can hear the beauty in them unless the spirit is in him.

I like an 80's metal group called WhiteCross for that same reason. Scripture set to music. I wonder if the psalms rhyme in Hebrew?
