Yes, there is proof that American beef products are BSE infected. There is solid evidence. There are also over 600,000 misdiagnosed cased of BSE related disease in humans. This estimate is for North America and South America combined. The common misdiagnosis is for CJD and Alzheimer's Disease.

Some of you need to understand that this issue isn't really a matter of overracting or media frenzy related nonsense. It's more an ethical and diplomatic matter on an international level. The US's main interest in making this new deal with South Korea is to sell off older meats to accelerate the already slowly dieing meat industry. Let me sum this up real clear. The koreans went all beserk and crap because the beef that was imported with the new deal were 30+ months old. And of course 30+ months old beef is illegal in any "developped" country. As for some of you claiming US citizens consume 30+ months old beef is all but nonsense because it is illegal. Knowing that the bovine you are just about to consume is indeed over 30months old, and there is a 1% chance of contracting the BSE. mugengaia, just a small correction, humans cannot contract BSE, that is the form of this disease in cattle, that is what the B(Bovine) means, humans can contract variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, but you can contract this disease spontaneously, so don't worry about meat, because it is nearly impossible to to get the disease from meat, because it only deals with the nervous system and the way the meat HAS to be processed it is impossible for the meat to become truly contaminated

Well actually this disease can incubate in your system for up to 20yrs before you get sick. And by the way the bone of a T-Bone is part of the vertebra where the concentrations of the prion that causes BSE in cattle is highest. I'm only saying this because we need to be careful about where our food comes from, blind consumerism is how people get sick from this kind of shit. Do research from many sources and see for yourself how scary this really is.

There is a reason why Japan does not want our beef. They keep testing it and they keep finding problems. As of right now we are only testing less than 2% of the cattle we are eating. This meat is going to our families, friends, children, and we need to be very careful. It would only cost the consumer pennies more per pound of beef to teat all of the cattle. And I say that when it comes to BSE, it is worth it.
