  • This is fantastic! My sisters were really into Banarama when I was growing up and I can remember them watching this show in the late 80s. Great stuff.

  • The man was way ahead of his time. For 2011, we still have not caught up to him...yet...

  • in the beautiful days before Lady Gaga's contrived half-witted outfits...

  • "I'd love to be on a macrobiotic diet all the time, but when you've only got roadside cafes..." HAHA! This is brilliant. Surreal and subtely camp!

  • He cracks me up!!

  • Dude what's with these people? They're interviewing Leigh Bowery and they keep showing some videos. What's with their attitudes too... It almost seems like they feel uncomfortable with him being there. Don't waste this man's time, if you truly don't want to interview him.

  • @hattersuffa It was a video show AND chat show ... and the hosts were pop stars & celebs each week. The awkwardness was part of the fun. I think you're over-analysing it a bit. Bananarama were the huge stars then -- not Leigh Bowery (who was virtually unknown until well after his death).

  • @bunnytube Oh. Good idea for a show. I tend to over-analyze things. Thanks for putting things in perspective.

  • @hattersuffa i can only assume you are not british, as you dont "get" the humour. Bananarama were friends of leigh bowery

  • lananenenananooo

  • I love bananarama bur they we crap at interviewing people....Leigh more or less took the piss a bit

  • It's almost like Lee is the host running the show

  • Such an intelligent man...

  • HALLO everyone! Hallo all you yanks.

  • It looks like a haz-mat suit designed by Bobby Trendy.

  • if there only had been a 'Leigh Bowery Show' on MTV back then.

  • wow this was back when MTV was still hip and cool, too bad emptyTV sucks these days.

  • Oh, I'm a BIG Bananarama fan tho, luv Keren...

  • @bunnytube: Is this for real? I've never seen such. To each their own I guess.... Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone, it's just.....just..... so ridiculous....

  • Who's the raging queen in sparkling PJ's? Never heard of him/her/it/????

  • @vidman04 See Leigh Bowery dot net.

  • @vidman04: You've never heard of Leigh Bowery?! Wow! You need to educate yourself.

  • This is boring, these girls are very boring. I like em singing.

  • @juancamex Guess that's why they're not talk show hosts! :-)

  • @bunnytube LOL I guess you're right. I like them though.

  • @juancamex They are much more vivid & open nowadays, as they approach 50! :-)

  • theyre so rude to him its crazy... well the short brown haired one is

  • I agree with Bunny. Sarah and Jacquie's body language says they adore him. Its just the format of the show which is super lite. He doesnt belong on this piece of mere merchandising yet here he is anyway. That speaks volumes about either the show's producers or Bananarama, and Leigh. I would love to know who's programming decision it was to have him on.

  • luv his glamjamas perfect for sleepovers

  • Anyone know what he did in the pool?

  • so much like Barry Humphries (both from Melbourne)

  • I love the fact that they fell so flart on their arses as interviewers, Leigh had to take over

  • I had the great honour of knowing leigh bowery and I hate the way banarama are treating him here he was an exceptional person and no-one will ever replace him, he's certainly holding his tongue cos he has class and they haven't

  • How are they treating him? It's just a silly show ...

  • He's genuinely funny. I mean, he's a a quick witted and clever guy.

I think they're treating him appropriately and respectfully.

  • Jacquie's facial expression from 6:26 to 6:30 is so funny! It's her 'why the fuck did I ever say yes to joining these 2 idiots' group' moment of realisation.

  • hahahaha Absolutely!!! she seems really fed up (and I think that it is especially with Keren).

  • Right ... I don't disagree with any of that. They needed a third member to make it into the record books (as a group instead of a duo) -- Jacquie was chosen by Karen & Sara but Siobhan as well. Indeed, Siobhan & Jacquie are still friends to this day and have an intertwining circle of friends in Soho and in the industry.

  • Well, I said I don't disagree ... I do disagree with the assertion that I need to do some Nana research. I am up for a Nana Trivia throwdown any time, Sir!

  • Jacquie wasn't allowed to speak! She was allowed to sing most of the vocals though ...

  • Who's Ken?

  • OMG they actually let Jacquie speak!!!!! wow!

  • ohhh that short haired one is a right bitch! ughh horrid and theres leigh... being polte at all times! i would love to hear what he actually thinks about her! Love Leigh!

  • he is hilarious! and smart. i'm researching him. thanks so much for posting this!

  • Leigh is just charming most visual artists for some reason or another take the bitchy queen route , and this is proof that bitchy is not better

  • and people think that lady gaga is original....

  • Yeah -- she got it all from Jacquie ..

  • KIDDING! :-)

  • What a contrast- Leigh looking outrageous and funny and watching Banarama presenting which is about as exciting as watching paint dry!

  • Bananarama had their own show? fucking hell they are so boring! (not musically speaking)

  • leigh bowery died of AIDS in 1994.He would not be able to have handled Michael Alig and the murder he commited.

  • what u mean he couldnt handle?

  • MAJOR Fashion ICON folks!!! He was the creator of the entire "Club Kid" phenomenon. Watch the movie "Party Monster" for a crash course on Club Kids.

  • @coonish28 thank u ! yeah for those who don t know ,give them an education. i wish people would just do some research before saying shit...

  • @coonish28 Party Monster is not, nowhere NEAR, as cool as Bowery. That was the diluted version.

  • poor jacquie never seemed to fit in

  • Jax had a bit of fun and moved on. She is doing just fine these days and is very happy.

  • love Leigh! Thanks 4 the info on the Bananarama girls! I also so looooove Shakespeare's sister...what an incredible album with "Stay"....love it love it love it love it!!

  • The girls are no great shakes as presenters, but Leigh was brill, he is sorely missed.

  • a true one off.....surreal and wonderous...

  • god i love leigh

  • I thought one of the 3 girls was Irish! They all sound English. Thanks for posting this.I have never seen them before i've only heard their music.

  • Siobhan Fahey (who left the Nanas to form Shakespear's Sister in 1988) was born in Ireland to Irish parents but moved to England by age two. Her mate Jacquie O'Sullivan [in the video)] took Siobhan's place for a few years before Keren & Sara carried on as a duo (1992).

  • Sarah is so lovely.........sigh

  • I just found this Bowery's work today, and its very awesome. Very creative personality indeed, he'll be missed much.

  • he is a genious!!!!god bless

  • leigh bowery should have had his own show, i love his personality!!

  • Oh Leigh, I miss you so, whenever an especially bright star appears I gess its you giving a glow!!

  • well that was just Gorgeous... err... ehm, what's next?

  • FABULOUS -- thank you for posting this video of Leigh!

  • He looks like a sweetheart, I remember seeing him on TV when I was about 10 in a similar costume and being fascinated by the lack of nose! Wish he was still around, I wonder what he'd be offering nowadays.

  • keren said "well, i have money!'

WHen he said he never had children because of the cost.

  • Leigh was at a club and did his thing next to one of the Rolling Stones who said: "Fuck off freak!" Leigh instantly shot back: "Fuck off fossil!"

  • that's cool

  • That actually is pretty cool...and a nice use of the 'Bowery Barb' that we know is lurking behind that deceptively sweet demeanour he adopted whilst in conversation with Bananarama...

  • fantastic bunny ,keep up the good work.

  • thanks for putting this online. its a real treat.

  • This is truly fagulous! Thank you!

  • Imagine dedicating a Z.Z.Topp song to Leigh...

  • f*ck you very much - he was a star - I danced with him at an illagal warehouse party in Osaka in 1990 - Him in powder, rainbow 70's platforms, a green flannel fig leaf and pierced mouth - me in a Commes des Garcons grey wool suit (I just got off work) - he was bitchy, sweet and brilliant.

  • its the gimp!

  • i saw this guy in a club once on regent street bout 13 years ago. he was a freak then too lol.

    loved it.
