@wowahmbored SPOILERS! In Portrait of Ruin for the DS you can meet the ghost of Eric Lecarde who tells you that his clan can unlock the full power of the Vampire Killer, but if a non Belmont attempts to use it, it will damage their soul and eventually kill them.

Wel it says in the ending that it was a few years later when Eric went into bloodlines. He was awesome in that game^^ lol. Im glad that people see him back again after all these years..

alright let me give u the run down of the low down

basicly Eric teams up with this one dude named John Morris, aka the next wielder of the vampire killer whip, to kill dracula.

The only problem is that John Morris isnt a direct descendant of the belmont clan, so after they kill dracula, the whip ends up taking the life of Jonh Morris.

Much like Nemesis40K said. Since Eric did the ritual to allow John to use the full power of the Vampire Killer, he used it a lot and eventually died after Bloodlines. This was revealed by him in Portrait of Ruin.
