Well, as cool as Fire Blast i, and since it is the strongest risk-free fire attack (Overheat, Blast Burn, Eruption, and several other super powerful fire moves tend to have some pretty big drawbacks) it's more likely if Ash's Charizard appears, the next super-strong move it gains will be either Blast Burn or perhaps Inferno. Those would match the epic tune very well.

I just thought it was strange that Ash's strongest Kanto starter, who even went to its final stage, didn't know that type's strongest attack (at the time, anyway). Although, I think in the Battle Frontier, it used Overheat.

Yeah I agree, it is odd. Charizard likely learned it in passing by now though. He can use Dragon Breath and Dragon Rage since his days of training in the Charicific Valley. And Overheat was picked up in the first battle fronteir chalenge Ash had with Noland. Ash was pretty estatic since it was the weapon of choice for him against Noland's Articuno. It didn't work like he hoped if I recall but he won the challenge there anyway.

But as I said I think Blast Burn or Inferno would be Charizard's next two likely moves. Mainly Blast Burn. For one to pick up any of the elemental hyper beams, the user not only needs to be fully evolved but it needs a strong bond with it's trainer. I can definately see Ash's Charizard performing Blast Burn someday.
